Is the back panel on that case aluminum, or is that the stock steel panel? I'd like to do something similar on my dynahi, but didn't think that FPE did steel panels.

Modushop offers aluminum back panels.

They didn't when I bought my Dissipante, but yes, I was aware that they do offer them now. Hence the question.

There is a bit of a cost premium, but Modushop does offer the Dissipante cases with 10mm thick front and 3mm thick aluminum top/bot/rear panels. Its well worth the little bit of added cost in my book.

Yes, I would agree. Mine has the 10mm front panel, but at the time they were not offering aluminum rear panels. I take it yours is aluminum? Nice job at any rate, and thanks for the reply.

Mine is the all aluminum panel version (3U x 400mm deep). I also prefer the thicker aluminum panels, as they are a little stiffer than the much thinner steel panels.

Thanks. I just looked and the aluminum back panel and a top panel would run 59 euro shipped. Not likely. I wonder how well FPE's anodized panels match up to these?

The problem with anodized FPE panels is the exposed raw edge unless you elect anodizing after finishing which is a huge add IIRC.

I think FPE will be more even for just the panels. If you have a silver case I think the shiny edges look cool. I can see it being undesirable if you have a black case though.

They do offer to smooth the edge for 3 dollars though, the finish isn't too bad. But yeah, doesn't look good on black.

Of course the case is black. All I really need done is painting or silkscreen or something to look like your rear panel. Not in a huge hurry, so I'll keep looking/thinking.

And how closely would this match an otherwise anodized enclosure (or I guess painted in the case of the top and bottom panels).

Starting to sound like just getting the aluminum panels from Modushop might be the way to go.

I wouldn't count on it matching. I have had bad luck with this... I'll post some pics in a few weeks of the project when it's done and I think it's quite noticeable.

The 'M' is hard to read, but I'm pretty sure it says "Mjölnir Audio". It sure would make sense for somebody whose middle name is Thor.
