I've been thinking about getting one for my back porch, which would probably stay there all year long. Would be anchored in to cement columns so no need for something with a built in stand. The porch isn't screened in, so it would attract bugs and dust, and would probably collect water as well. Thus I'm leaning towards simple rope hammock. No particular price point, just wondered if anyone has a hammock that they like to lounge in and would recommend. Some rather interesting products out there, ranging all over the place in terms of price: http://gearpatrol.com/2013/07/19/big-swingers-five-best-hammocks-2/ http://www.realsimple.com/home-organizing/decora…

Enter your address into the walk score site, and it "shows you a map of what's nearby and calculates a Walk Score for any property. Buying a house in a walkable neighborhood is good for your health and good for the environment." My house got a whopping 8.

I'm considering converting my garage to a music/home theater. I am considering doing it with my brother in law. He is a pretty handy and with a good set of plans, should be able to do this with my limited assistance. I've been searching for plans online but I haven't been able to find actual plans and/or materials needed. I realize this will vary depending on size, etc. This brings me to my question. Is there anyone here that would be able to do a design for me? I would be willing to pay for the assistance. The garage is 20' x 18'. I am figuring the room would be 15' x 12' (could be a bit bigger or smaller). I want to leave some room for storage. Electrical w…

Anyone got a good recommendation on this front? My parents tasked me with doing this for my potential roomates. I'm not looking for something super indepth.. I figure just like criminal record if any and credit check that kind of thing.

Last week there was a small-plane crash in East Palo Alto (SF Bay Area), killing three Tesla Motors employees and knocking out power to a chunk of Silicon Valley for much of the day. (Amazingly nobody on the ground was killed despite the plane striking a home child day-care facility.) East Palo Alto contains some dodgy areas, and is outfitted with the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system. It turns out the crash triggered ShotSpotter, which is designed to log and triangulate on loud, sharp noises, and to log the sounds preceding and following them. NTSB expects these data to be useful in reconstructing the events around the crash. Palo Alto Online : ShotSpotter …

So I signed up for the 2013 Tour de Cure in Orlando on March 17, 2013 and joined my local shop's team - Winter Park Cycles. Most of you guys know I love cycling and I'm a sucker for these rides/bike fests. More importantly, the Tour de Cure is a ride that benefits the American Diabetes Association. This cause is near and dear to my heart as my cousin and close friend, Angelo is a Type 1 Diabetic and I am riding for him. We grew up together and we are very close even though he's back home in the Philippines and I'm here in the USA. Anyway, I am posting here to shamelessly ask for donations. No amount is too small and every dollar matters Please click on this link…

Our dryer is slowly dying. Anyone get a gas dryer that they really like or know models to avoid? I don't need any fancy smartphone technology shit, just one that works, doesn't break for a long time (or ever, yeah right), and get really really hot*. Unfortunately, they don't seem to publish dryer temperatures. I also don't want something with a steam feature. I would prefer to have a dryer with a detachable rack for drying sweaters, shoes, etc but that is not a necessity. Right now I am just looking at the top rated dryer at Best Buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?_dyncharset=UTF-8&_dynSessConf=3604863170801698822&id=…

Being in the software industry and with most of our customers being developers we don't run into that many stupid customers but man today I think we found a nominee for retard of the year. We recieved an email from a customer that was having problems placing an order on our website, the first thing I do is check the credit card processing log to see if the card was rejected. Low and behold it was but the funny part is that he tried to place the order 14 times with the following in the "card holder name" field: platinum Pplatinum Mastercard Master card platinum

I'm planning on getting a motor bike in the spring. I haven't driven anything larger then a 250cc dirt bike. By now, its blatantly obvious that motorcycles are extremely dangerous and I should start planning now for my impending crash. The plan right now is to get a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD cruiser in the spring after taking the MSF course and buying safety gear; CE certified padded over pants, leather jacket, riding boots, gloves and no doubt a nice full face helmet. I really am impressed by this bike. Fairly lightweight, good handling, comfort, can handle my size and weight even on the freeway, decent fuel economy, style, price is right; I think its about the perfect…

Its not like I discover this by now, hell no, but listen...Sometimes you begin to think about the situations and the things become more complicated than clear. Just today I was having a drink with several people because one of our female collegaue were leaving the firm. Before that, she invited, personally, all that folks, include me, so its not like I am really that important or anything, however not everyone were welcome after all, especially that we are not worked at the same department. To make this story short I will say this. When I talked to her, lately, you having about one thing, but if I were looking in her eyes, I just saw something different...And that diff…
