My water heater is about 15 years old, so I've been thinking about getting a new one sometime soon before it blows up on me. With the Federal discount of 30% up to $1500 for all things green set to expire at the end of 2010, I'm deciding if I should go for a tankless or hybrid water heater before the end of the year. My current model is a gas 15 gallon one. It works mostly fine, but at the end of a long shower, it can run out. The hybrids look great, but really expensive, and there aren't too many gas models. I'd rather not have to retrofit an electric, since I have an old house, unless it's easier/cheaper than I think. My wife is a bit of a tree hugger, so she's…

5.9 magnitude quake rocks East Coast. I didn't feel a damn thing here in B'town, but others as far as Boston are reporting noticing it. There are a lot of H-Cers near the epicenter. Everyone's headphones still on their stands?

Hope you have a great one. As I'm sure many will agree, it's no exaggeration to say that it's an honor to be your friend.

Remember when the first car that drove by would stop to help, if you were broke down? On my way home from work yesterday, I saw an elderly woman standing by her car on the side of the road. I almost drove right past, but something said stop. Upon asking, it seemed she had a flat tire. She didn't exactly seem thrilled that I had stopped, not at first anyway. But once I offered to change the tire for her, she seemed to warm. Turns out her spare was also flat. So I suggested we take both to a near by tire shop. Once there the fix was easy, inexpensive and quick. On the way back she admitted to me that at first she wondered if I was up to no good, and had been wary of my …

*** Mod's delete or move if this isn't the best place *** Shameless plug for Orchard Audio, and me. I really like their streamers and amps, great sound for relatively small $. As some know, I use multiples of their Pecan Pi (or + version) streamer/DAC. Leo @ Orchard is starting an affiliate program, you can get a bit off ($25) an order and I get a referral bonus. Referral Link: https://orchardaudio.com/tddsmst?nocache=1 Or, just use tddsmst as a discount code on checkout (may not work for sale items, not sure). They sell some boards so you can DIY, as well as finished products. Enjoy! Or ignore....

Hello, First off let me say I'm new around here. I've been reading on Head-fi.org for a while and even registered a week ago, but I've never been able to post on those forums, my posts and PMs dissapear into the ether. So I'm just out of luck there I thought I'd come here and give these forums a try and see if I can actually post here Long time speaker lover, recent addition to the headphone club. The recent addition of a baby to the family has inspired me to change listening habits (no more thumping music when I get home from work, boo!), so going to headphones makes alot of sense. I like it, the hobby feels like new again for me. Currently I have: …

I know there are more than a few of you on here. My grandfather was a woodworker by hobby, and also worked in boatyards (old lakeside marinas selling/servicing Shepherd, Chris-Craft, Century type boats) from the late 40s, though early 60s. I acquired a small stash of lumber from him in the mid 70s, consisting mostly of 5/4 rough oak and mahogany, with a few other odd bits. Sadly, he had cut several longer planks down to about 4' to fit the trunk of his car. Some of the boards were odd material, and all were fairly dusty and dirty. Most are reasonably flat, but a few are somewhat warped, or have big knots and/or checking, so have gone largely unused this whole tim…

So, I thought my Christmas shopping was done, but turns out my brother already owns the first thing I bought for him. I now want to get him a basic, all-inclusive, beginner brewing kit, and I've been looking around, mostly at Amazon, but I obviously have no clue what's decent or not. I'm fine with anything in $200 range or under. Any ideas?

When you think of Santa Claus (not me specifically, but just in general), how tall do you perceive him to be? Just curious, and just for fun.

Not sure if anyone would have any interest, outside of maybe Steve and his apprentice, but the new neighbors brought over a blueberry pie and full photo documentation of the build of the house. What was sold as and listed for taxes as a 1972 home with renovations, would appear to be a near complete tear down and new build. Note the sweet green fridge in many of the pictures and the worker riding the chimney like a bull before it collapsed through the floor into the basement. They tell us the chimney was going to be the only thing kept, until that. House Build
