As many of you saw, Jeff had signed up for a TdC in Virginia, as it's a cause near and dear to him. It just so happens we're having a ride in Chattanooga on May 18th, and with Jeff and other friends in mind, I was one of the first people to sign up for this one. I am in need of some hotel assistance with the Chicago area HC crew. My daughter and three of her classmates from Notre Dame plan to spend the Thursday through Saturday of Easter break visiting and sight seeing around Chicago. None of the girls are from the area so they have no clue where to stay that is centrally located to fun activities and reasonably priced. I was thinking somewhere along the Magnificent Mile, Whacker, Loop, Michigan avenue area. Am I searching in the right area or can you suggest something better? Has anybody seen the double-page ad in Rolling Stone that is an article on the history of vinyl? Does anybody have any idea what it means? It's a pretty decent article. It has jump lines at the beginning and end to make it look like it continues later in the magazine, but it doesn't. There's a little ad-within-the-ad for some TV show, which has nothing, AFAIK, to do with vinyl, or even music at all. Very odd

A month ago I visited with a new doctor. Went in for a sore arm but he saw fit to comment on my weight, ordered blood work and wanted to prescribe medication to control my blood pressure and reduce my cholesterol. Had my usual fight to find out and discuss my other options. WE finally agreed that I would reduce my weight and come back in July for a complete physical and discuss further at that time. At 300# I have a bit of tail I can stand to lose. Sadly, I've not had much trouble losing weight, but I've found it damn near impossible to keep it off. I went home and went into research mode. I am considering getting rid of all cable/sattelite TV service (currently DirecTV) and going with the combination of Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, and online sports subscriptions. I have neighbors doing this and they've liked it, while saving a ton of money. For what I pay for DTV, and how little we watch TV, it's hardly worth it. As it is, we currently watch mostly Netflix and Amazon anyway. For sports, I'm watching mostly on iPad, because my kids are on the TV, and I've found this to be fine, sometimes preferable, since I don't have to scroll through 600+ channels to find the game I want. Plus I can watch it on my lap while I passively watch whatever the …
