In my wanderings across the world wide web I came across Spintricity: High-end Audio Adventurers - Volume 1 Number 4 - Where the Music Is Interesting how they describe their aim here: Spintricity - Got Music? "So what are we going to do about it? First, we have no reviews. Or to be more precise, we have no reviewers Instead we encourage manufacturers and dealers, perhaps in conjunction with a writer or photographer, to submit articles about their equipment. Articles will be screened to maintain a high level of information content and a low level of marketing speak [we sell advertising space for those]." Four Issues out so far Their navigation …

I notinced the weirdest thing tonight, I'd just been listening to something directly from the Gamma 1 DAC and the music ended and I was typing a message when I got a hum in one ear. It was coming in and out as the cat was passing over the wire. I called the cat back over and was able to get the phones to hum as I stroked or went near the cat! It's very odd, anyone else ever had this happen? PC > Gamma Dac > Yammy HP-1 > cat (himalayan) don't know if hum is species specific or not.

Here's an interesting story from HDGuru. Apparently many companies are not honoring their own pricing policies in an attempt to increase profits in the recession. Has anybody here run into this?

TRUE STORY (HAPPENED LAST WEEK'S FRIDAY AT WORK). : "Alright guys, see ya around, and enjoy your lunch!" I picked up after myself, heading out the door with my carry-on lunch bag. My colleagues waved good-byes. As I opened the door, I saw her figure a few feet in front of me: Christina was walking down the hall. Christina is an unmistakable young little beauty. She is one of those women you simply just look at and do not want to touch in fear that when you do, she will forever vanish in a puff of smoke, leaving you wondering why the gods played such cruel jokes on us mortals. But this was no vision: there she was, walking down the corridor towards her cubicle.…

Considering our hobby, I have to presume I'm not the only one that's sucked in by simple genius. This is a dumping ground for unique inventions that are underappreciated for what they are; they've become commonplace, obsolete or quite simply, frivolous! A few of my faves: The ZIPPO Lighter Simple in its mechanics, tank-like in construction, plus it makes fire. Fire good. I've been a Zippo fanatic since I was a kid. Incidentally, a more controlled flame (like a Bic) is probably the better choice for lighting firecrackers. The Rolling Machine Ok, seriously, this one is so damned simple I almost can't believe it ended up getting invented. …

Chuck Norris Allows Birthday to Arrive Posted Mar 10th 2009 10:45AM by TMZ Staff Today is Chuck Norris' birthday. He turns infinity. Fun fact: Chuck Norris was born three months premature, because he had asses to kick. p.s. -- he's 69 (in human years). Another fun fact that might be little known is that on his birthday, Chuck Norris randomly selects one lucky child to be thrown into the sun. I have my fingers crossed about the lucky winner this year. Better finish that tequila shot you've been nursing Slacker.

That there is a rule in the other forum that linking to or mentioning of head-case is not allowed. I actually just mentioned head-case as we were talking about what (mbd) Ruckus posted here recently. Though the mod was polite enough to tell me that he edited/deleted some of my posts Anyway, I know most of you guys already know about that rule, but I was really surprised that such a rule exists and is being implemented very strictly. I actually searched the other site for posts using the term head-case and, most of the results were links to the smilies used in this forum, I guess those are allowed

Article suggesting that it is the artifacts we are familiar with, that we like.. I remember wondering what audiophiles were up to, buying extremely expensive home audio systems to play old vinyl records. They put turntables in sand-filled enclosures with elaborate cabling schemes. I wondered what they heard in that music that I didn't. Someone explained to me that audiophiles liked the sound artifacts of vinyl records -- the crackles of that format. It was familiar and comfortable to them, and maybe those affects became a fetish. Is it now becoming the same with iPod lovers? The Sizzling Sound of Music - O'Reilly Radar
