Headphones

Hey all, So, a friend of mine needs some headphones that he will be plugging in to the 1/8" jack on his TV for quiet listening at night. Requirements: Must cost around $40 CDN. Closed 1/8" jack preferable circumaural preferable not complete shit That is about it. If anyone has any recommendations, let me know. Thanks, Jay

I have a question would the Beyer headband fit over the sennheiser HD650 band like for grados? Im assuming the senn's head padding would be removed for it to fit.

I just got a pair of Yamaha YH-1000 given to me by my father. I understand they are special. I currently have a pair of Sennheiser HD 600s, FWIW. One channel is very week and distorted-but plays-and the foam needs replaced on both ear pads. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about fixing either problem? I can solder and am an adventurous DIYer. Thanks for your help.

After using low-end earphones so far, I finally decided to upgrade by buying Harman Kardon's NC. Being new to high-end headphones (or whatever they are) I have a quick question for you audiophiles.... It seems that sound quality in left and right (irrespective of the song & who is listening i.e. me or my wife) is slightly different. Overall sound quality when listening from both sides is just fine. But, I am wondering, if this imbalance is normal (what do I know about headphones?) OR is it a technical defect? Hoping for some genuine help!

Guys, looking to sell my MS1 and use the money to buy new phone. Which is better ? AD2k or W5k ? And would the 30-40% diff between AD2k and W5k justifiable ? I know I can always count on the opinion of the people in this forum......Appreciate any advise.....

Well I finally have a little spare cash, so I have at long last ordered a set of K-701?s. I had one of the first sets on loan from AKG last fall (To take to the NY meet), and I fell in love with them. I think that they are the bestest headphones made. Soon I?ll think about re-cabling them. I wonder what wire I should use? Now all I have to do is wait until they get here.

Whether you own an HP-2, L3000, R10, a K1000, or some other spendy OOP can, I'd like to know your thoughts. Do you ever think that someday a can will be produced that will do everything your can does, but better, and at a decent price, causing the market value of your can to plummet? Or do you think your particular can will always command a premium in the marketplace?

So right now im looking at the KRK KNS 6400's they seem ok but i was wondering if anyone had any opinions or other recommendations?

Hi everyone I need an earbud or portable headphone for walks and riding public transportation listening metal and rock, ocassional movie soundtrack music from Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and iRiver T10. This is just something I've been tinkering with in my head, not something I'm actually going to do at this point. But I decided to start this thread to see if the idea has any value, and also just to bounce it off all of your heads to look at it from every angle. Has anyone ever heard a reterminated balanced hp-1000 out of a true balanced rig? Even if not, any idea of the potential sonic benefits this could bring? Would it be worth messing with the JGUHBWLSJDYEWLCAQ cable? So far, the HP-2 is the only can I've heard that I like well enough to build a whole system around. Except maybe the HD650.

Would these sound half decent as a system? I listened to K 701's a long time ago and kind of thought they sounded like ass*. Would having killer power on these babies do anything for them, or do they still sound like ass after "burn-in" and Nuculer Power. * ass as in they could not rock out. They were very dull sounding, even after about 1,000 hours of burn-in when running out of my amp. The sins of the K 701, in my opinion, are sins of omission. Ok, I hate making decisions, and I hate having broken headphones. There is a bit of a rattle in the right side of my maple Darth Beyers. I'm thinking it is either a driver, a hair, or (doubtful, but maybe) a slight defect in the wooden cup assembly. I have a few options, as the seller has reimbursed me a very reasonable amount to go towards rectifying my problem. Option 1: Buy 1 dt770-250 ohm driver to replace the one, fix it myself (with help) or send it to a DIY guy to do it for me Option 2: Same as above, but send it to larry. Fuck, I tripped over my headphone cable of my ATH-A100Ti, and bent/broke the plug. I also broke my soundcard in my computer, but care a lot less about that, since I usually use an external one -- I don't think I'll get that fixed. So I'm thinking: rewire it! So what's the best 1/4" plug out there right now? Does Cardas make one? Or should I just get any old one? Should I also recable my headphones while I'm at it? Or should I sent it back to audiocubes or eifl for fixing? Can that even be done? Actually, just tested it out on a different connection, it appears it still works, must be the soundcard that got disconnected on one channel.
