Headphone Amplification

I am the recent owner of a DIY tube integrated built by a friend. It uses 2 6SN7s for input, and a single 6BX7 (or 6BL7) for output. I should note that this is the second iteration of this amp from the same builder. Wanting to know the differences between the SRM-252 Mk2, the SRM-252A and the SRM-001. Do all three uses the same amplifier circuit? I Know that the SRM-001 uses a switching supply that I assume that the table top models do not but are the circuits the same?

I've got two bad 6sn7s. What do you personally do with your tubes once they go badly microphonic? Do you just throw them away? Is it worth it to try to open the tube up so maybe I can check out the insides, as an educational experiment?

Ok, am wanting the SR-L700 model and am TOTALLY confused as to which damn amp to get, we have the SRM 006ts, 353x and 727 mk 2 . Are tbere any other brands that can be better suited up to this price ceiling?

I misplaced my charger, and I don't remember what I can change and what I can't. The DAC/Amp says 12V DC and shows the polarity. That means 12V, right? I can't use a 15V charger on it? I can use higher amperage, but the voltage has to be correct, right? 'cause the charger I thought I had for it says 15V, but the connector is correct and the polarity is correct. But it could well be for something else, like an external hard drive.

Recently i acquired a SRM1/MK2 (B series) Stax amp and a pair of sr404 which is bought for a sigma/404 conversion It comes with an imbalance issue. I first thought it is the headphone , but after several switches of equipment(amps,headphones etc） im certain that its the AMP. By observation there is no burnt resistors,measured some of them ,the VR seems to be functional........I tuned the offset and balance But the + to - voltage of the lower-volume channel doesn't change when i rotate the balance pot which is abnormal, it stays on 8v dc While all other balance and offset pots is fine. Have anyone once had the same issue ？Any thoughts?I need help…

I got my mayflower O2+ ODAC last week. My primary headhpones are the 600 ohm version of the dt880s and I also tested my old ath-m50's. The audio quality is really poor. Sounds dirty and there's distortion where there shouldnt be. When I plug into my onboard audio the audio is crystal clear using the same audio file(FLAC and 320kbps music). Basically my onboard sounds better in every situation. I've made sure the audio quality is set to 24/96khz. I've tested it with my source volume at 50-80%. I've even done all these steps ive listed above on my friends computer with the exact same results. His onboard sounded better, and his mobo is 3 years older than mine. I dont have a…

i have recently bought a DT 990/600 and now im looking for amp. but will amp be enough to get a great sound for 40% music 40% gaming 20% movies i heard some people suggest getting both DAC and AMP. i'm going to use them on my gaming laptop but i do not have a good sound card(realtek HD). I'm doing a side gig reviewing headphones. Companies send me stuff and I give my opinion on things. I recently got a certain Moondrop Para planar which I thought sounded pretty okay. Then I saw the spec sheet and my hair stood up a bit- 101dB/V at 8 ohms. Or, when converted to actual efficiency figures... 80dB/mW. My question to the amp gurus here - will this load kill amps? It's a rare case of low efficiency combined with high sensitivity so people will be lulled into thinking that it's an easy load to drive. Like - hurr-durr, pot's only at 9'o clock and it's already hella loud! When in reality you're pushing serious mA and mW. And I'm not talking abo…

Anyone here have any info about this tube? I read somewhere that this is a higher quality 6AS7G but upon inpection, I see that it has 5998 plates. This is where I'm confused: Is this tube supposed to sound like a 6AS7G or a 5998? BTW, I got my Chatham 2399s when I got my Extreme used and I like it....spacious and detailed but the 7236 trumps it in speed and punch.

I've recently purchased the C&C BH from ebay and it doubles the perfomance of the JDSLabs C421 for almost half the price. It's a top amp. Battery last 80 hours from a single charge! I can't wait to put my hands on the $300 C&C XO2 for an A/B. As we proceed I'll let you know more details about this little gen, that beats amps that cost twice as much. I have a 007tA that lost the -350V. Looks like the 150ohm filter resistor between the two HV caps is open. There also seem to be something loading the bias voltage. The voltage before the 4.7M resistor in series with the output socket measure 300V after the resistor but 400V before the resistor with nothing connected. Searching thru the forum seems like there is a 007t schematic available somewhere but all the links in previous posts are no longer valid. It would be most helpful if a schematic is available. Would like to find out what causes the 150ohm resistor to open before replacing it. thanks.

Hi, I need some advice. I have a Metric Halo ULN-2 which I use for recording and as a DAC-unit with my Mac, through S/PDIF from my M-Box 2, which works fine. I am currently considering buying some high quality headphones to do as much work as possible with a headset, since I can't make much sound where I live. I was thinking about buying a pair of HD 650, but have read serveral places that some people doesn't think it works too well with the ULN-2 headphone amp because of too high impedance. Hi All, I have had my MAD HD Super for a while now, and I am very happy with it. I am not very versed in circuit design for audio, but I am curious by nature.
