I have an old ipad 1 and phones (Google Nexus and Samsung S3) that I never use. What should I do with them? Is there a place I can donate them or should I just recycle them?

My grad school group is looking to host web based calendar system on our server to reserve instruments. Do any of you, perhaps Todd, know of a good one? Here are some features we'd like: -ability to email all users simultaneously -email users by clicking on their scheduled time -prevent an instrument from being doublebooked -email administrator to request training for an instrument -web based administration interface

I'm considering to get one of those services to upload myself some files, and eventually sharing them. Some of you are Megaupload users, others use Rapidshare, Sendspace... At this moment Megaupload is offering a lifetime service with no restrictions for under $200 which I think is a fantastic deal, but if no one else is using that service, it can become quite pointless for some of the purposes. is out. I have it installed on this Mac laptop and my main Linux desktop. It seems faster, appears to use less memory and is more spritely all around. Plugins seem to work better on the Linux version. I haven't tried the proxy server feature. I'm happy to see that they've added a spell checker that works in vBulletin forms, like FireFox has had forever. Just wondering if anyone has used Optimum Online for an ISP, I am moving to Hoboken in a week and this and Verizon Fios are the options available to me. All else the same, I would probably go with Fios, but there is a promotion that puts the OOL at about half the fios cost for the first year, so just wondering if anyone has tried it with good experiences. No p2p, so I shouldnt have the issues with upload capping I read about.

Quick (doubtless dumb) question. Why don't my per-application access settings seem to "stick"? Let's say I want iTunes to accept incoming connections -- I go into system preferences/firewall and add it to the approved list. Because I'm not routinely running as an administrator, it will ask me to authenticate before making the change. Fine. But then, every time I restart iTunes it will still prompt me to approve an incoming connection and require me to authenticate yet again. This is tiresome. What am I missing?

I've posted some of my initial impressions on another thread, but figured I'd start another thread since there are few Mac users on the forum. Few things - The installation went smoothly without a hitch, even though I took a risk and chose the Upgrade option. No reboot or DVD mounting issues here. Safari runs much better than the beta (duh). No random crashes in middle of surfing and I think it's marginally faster than beta, but I could be imagining that. Stacks are stupid. With spotlight used to access files, I rarely have to launch finder nowadays. This way, I can have all my stuff on the desktop cluttered as can be, but will always be invisible till I need to find stuff. The rest of the time- Clean & Pretty & unclickable desktop!

My 2012 i7 Mac Mini is still my main computer as it does pretty much all that I need (16G RAM, 500G SSD + 1T HDD). It is currently on High Sierra due to 32 bit support. Several apps that I use are 32 bit and can't be easily/cheaply upgraded to 64 bit: Eagle ($$$), Office 2011 and 2016 (I still prefer older office versions), etc. My wife uses Turbo Tax and this year the pricks require Mojave as the minimum version. I know that Mojave supposedly supports 32 bit apps, but does it really? Someone suggested that I might want to install it on a separate drive to test before doing so on the main SSD. Any recs for an external drive (SSD?) of probably 2T to use for this …

We just installed our cable internets at our apartment today and I picked up a wireless router. Now my roomate's laptop isn't able to do WPA Soooo, we're using WEP 128 bit right now. Now we're in a pretty nice building and when I use my wireless browser program to look for SSIDs I see about 15-20. Most are locked, one or two aren't. Which obviously means there are tons of wifi users in this building. How paranoid should I be about people cracking our WEP? Hey folks- So with CPA exam and busy season behind me, I'm finally starting to re-evaluate on what is important: having a kick ass PC to play games on. My current PC is actually pretty great. Surprised to find my i5-3570 CPU I purchased in 2012 is still completely acceptable for gaming. I did upgrade my graphics card to a GTX 980, which is awesome. So, I've been using MontyPics for years now... Crummy interface for uploading and organizing, but I'd been uploading and using those photos in forums for so long that changing hosting wasn't an option. Well, unknown to me until this morning, they had a complete meltdown over the weekend, had little redundancy and they lost about 99% of my photos going back about 6 years. My music library is accessed via my iMac and iTunes. AFAIK, iTunes does not support high resolution audio files. Is there any way I can get hi rez files to pump out of the optical out of my iMac?

I attended this CME course and they gave us the lectures in iPod video format as well (.m4v), but I don't have an iPod or a Mac, so I'm having a hard time finding a way to play them on Windows. Hi, i'm not computer literate, i mean i could use the thing, but i'm not a fan of all the little details that go into these things. for the last 3 years i've relied on Norton Internet Security (rebuying it every august or whenever a new one comes out). well, now it tells me that my computer is under attack. i do a "live update" and install the things. then it tells me that a trojan horse is has gotten in, and somehow it can't fix it (after having me go through a series of steps). one , i want to get rid of the trojan horse two, i want to get rid of norton.

I can't seem to stop the porn pop ups. it seems as if the computer found out i love tits and ass, and decided to pleasure me with tits and ass on it's own... the problem is it won't stop... I'm looking for something in the 900p to 1080p range that I can carry with me in a hard clam shell or something. Anyone know of anything? I know iTunes can playback pre-emphasis CDs on the fly applying the required filtering to de-emphasize them, but it won't play FLAC files, nor will apply the de-emphasis filter on ALAC files made from pre-emphasized FLAC files. So it's either de-emphasizing the FLAC files using SoX or some other filtering tool and playing back the new corrected files on your preferred software, or using some software that can de-emphasize FLAC files on the fly. Does this even exist? I'd like to know about any music playback software for OSX that can play pre-emphasized lossless files applying the required filtering on the fly. Thanks.
