Thanks, Bryan! It's true, this is the first Cleveland championship in my LIFETIME! And I'm 51 years old! My Dad bought season tickets for the Cavs' first, expansion year season. I have a picture of me as a kid in a promotional pic sitting with Austin Carr. I'm guessing no one here knows who that is. I haven't posted much here, because I know how intense and completely personally I take things and how unreasonable I am when it comes to Cleveland sports. It's an illness we all have from years of heartbreak. It's been well documented the many and horrible ways we have been denied a championship. I was on my second date ever with Anne, now my wife, when we watched the Indians lose game 7 of the '97 World Series when Jose Mesa blew the save and couldn't hold a 2-1 lead in the 9th. The Shot, The Shot 2, The Drive, The Drive 2, The Interception, The Fumble ... Any Cleveland sports fan knows all this stuff by heart. Eh, I can go on and on, but only a Clevelander would know what I'm talking about. Anyway, great comeback! Great series, great game 7. The typical game for us to lose in heartbreaking fashion. Incredible we finally won one! [emoji3] Kudos to GS for a classy press conference after the game. And a great year - hopefully a great rivalry for years to come. Draymond in particular, I just hate him, but one of those guys you hate when he's on the other team, but wish you had a guy like that on your own team. Underrated, as all you hear about is the Splash Brothers, but he's the one I feared more than anyone.4 points

Woke up to breakfast and a Father's Day gift. Then hanging out before visiting dad's grave with mom. Steak dinner, followed up by playing catch with the kids until it was too dark to see. 3 hours hanging out with Zoƫ (Xavier wanted to spend the night at my mom's because she has a super comfy chair he wants to sleep in,) and now time for a nap before two days of training at work I have to go in early for. Fairly solid day. **BRENT**4 points

Sorry for the golden state folks, but a MASSIVE congrat to Dr John (jvlgato) on getting to see a team he's a fan of win for the first time in his entire life! (And that's any sport) I've had it good in Chicago. Gotta feel great for Cleveland.4 points

I actually listened to these headphones on Friday. They are very quick and detailed, but smooth, with a somewhat forward presentation. I preferred them greatly to the withdrawn, distant sound of the HD800S I compared them with directly. There seemed to be a slight dip in the lower mids that made male vocals feel a little buried, and the bass punch was not to the level of the best planars. Soundstage size felt a bit limited for a TOTL headphone. They are fairly heavy, but clamping force is light, and the pads are well done, so I didn't notice any comfort issues. Overall, the detail they produce puts them in a very high class, and it's all personal preference from there. They wouldn't supplant the HE1000 as my personal favorite headphone, but they may be just what others are looking for.3 points

No pics but we stopped at President Obama's favorite smokehouse here in Asheville, Twelve Bones. Brisket, smoked turkey, sweet vinegar slaw, jalapeno cheese grits and corn pudding all were awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

Congrats to John and all Cleveland sports fans! It was a long dry spell. Glad for you that it's over. I remember Austin Carr. Played for Notre Dame and pretty much personally ended a long UCLA winning streak.2 points

a complete wood set of male and female connectors. Going to sound SO much better... The people over there would eat it up. Say $1500 for a pair of connectors. Then upgrade to pure silver pins (doing the same to the tulip females is going to be a bear)2 points

Just checked the thread on HF and I think Dan might indeed be retarded as he got zapped by a Stax plug? First of all, not on anything we or Stax have built. Any idiot knows we put protective measures in place so the risk of a short is non existent. I just love fear mongering like this which has no basis in reality as he's trying to sell the HF idiots onto his stupid idea. So he's going to include adapters anyway to use with the Stax standard and this is somehow makes it easier to source the plug? Yet he is working with some company on a custom plug but they can't make a Stax plug? I mean how stupid is this shit? Also, Stax don't own the plug even if they have used it for 57 years. It is a common design which was widely used back in the day but has only really survived on microphones. Any claims of payments to Stax for the use of "their" plug are just... well fucking stupid. Lastly, he thinks that people will want to use this in a portable setting? Making a portable amp is not easy and well past the know how of most amplifier manufacturers. Any idiot can make something like the King Sound M-03 as it is just opamps feeding transformers. Sounds like shit too... The reality is that most people want to use their portable phones at home. I've certainly received numerous requests to make a home amp for the Shure KSE1500.2 points

I don't buy the injury thing. Curry just choked on a level I've never seen. That said, congrats to Cleveland. I usually can't stand Lebron, but he fought for it. The whole team has earned my respect.2 points

At Wicked Weed's Funkatorium. Had chorizo, peppadew, chevre and toasted cumin. Add to that roasted pork with smoked paprika and romesco. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

To me, it seems like the main intent is to create a new ecosystem of phones and amps that don't mix with Stax stuff (and accessorily work around inefficiency issue of current ether E design). I am too close to Stax to be neutral but I don't see MrSpeakers running circles around good old Stax with this. The L700, I feel, is stunning for the price and sounds great out of budget amps. It's thus not an issue of cost and I don't see a new plug changing this. Now, if we're talking about heavily sponsored brands on head-fi that would be given massive exposure for new amps / phones and this special club new plug, I can imagine though that there will be a crowd for this. Not the old farts like us that is... Actually, reading the posts of stillhurt and the likes, it's like they really really welcome something that's not compatible with stax. Meh, head-fi these days... arnaud1 point

I'm using a Dell Precision M3800, now discontinued, but the successor model looks to be about 1lb lighter (Precision 15 5000 Series). If you're going to end up needing even more graphics power, then you get into the heavy true desktop replacements.1 point

at this point, merely still existing adversely affects R10s.1 point

I remember Austin Carr (Mr. Cavalier) quite well. My dad was a big Notre Dame fan, so we watched all of the games. He played with a guy named Gary Novak, who was from LaSalle, IL (just a 5 minute drive, across the Illinois River from Oglesby, IL where I grew up). These are small towns, so for someone to be a 3 year starter for ND, it was a big deal. Novak (now a doctor) was a really smart player. Kind of a role guy, shooting forward, great defender and rebounder. He might have averaged 10 points, but it was really all about Carr. He was just an amazing, prolific scorer. Lots of 50+ points games. He was the best of the best in Notre Dame history.1 point

On topic: Congrats to Cleveland. Off topic: You'll be happy to know that I didn't catch any fish yesterday morning so it still worked.1 point

Sorry @TMoney, I had a biscuit today for Father's Day. I didn't choose it, it was chosen for me. I try to only use my powers towards Chris, but doesn't always work out. **BRENT**1 point

I was rooting for the Warriors but I have to hand it to LBJ and Irving. The Carvs were super clutch down the stretch while the Warriors were living and dying by the 3 toward the very end! Hate to admit but I'm starting to be LBJ fan. His defense was superb through out the series.1 point

It would be even better if impregnated with resin to stabilize it. It could have some really impressive specs1 point

There is an ability to do community projects in Fusion 360, which I think is really cool. For anyone wanting to mill foam, there are some precautions. I had an issue with my initial tests when milling to close to the edge. It grabbed a piece of foam and pulled it onto the bit. Not good. I used the duct tape on the one side to give it some stability near that edge. Like everything in milling, make sure your work piece is secured well. Also, for clean final cuts you need to use conventional milling vs. climb milling. This is opposite for aluminum.1 point

actually a very hard hardwood like ebony, or blackwood, maybe rosewood, that kind of thing would work just fine and have low capacitance and high breakdown voltages. (goes off to find suitable piece of wood to stick into the mill using existing program)1 point

This new plug idea makes no sense to me. He's blabbing about the need to come up with cheaper amps affordable to all, yet better performance than Stax offerings. But, how can a new plug design make this any cheaper. Also, AFAIK, it's not like Stax is ripping off their customers with current pricing so am not sure what can realistically be expected from non-Stax commercial offerings. The Ether E prototype shown in Tokyo a couple months back was utterly inefficient (LLmk2 at max volume to get decent loudness from a bricasti M1, BHSE at 3-4PM!). My guess here is that Dan will find someone to make non-direct drive amp with high voltage gain transformers (and/or high bias) to drive his Ether E, hence he does not want to use a Stax plug to avoid people frying their Omega phones when trying to A/B out of same amp... arnaud1 point
