  1. They were two really great guys, outcast by their families, as so many gays were. My Mom became their surrogate Mom, and we were an alternative family unit. They were beautiful, caring young men. They were 23 and 24 years of age when they were taken. I often wonder who they might be today, if they had lived. Sometimes I feel that I've not done enough with my life to honor them. But I'm still here, slowly plugging away, and I know that they'd tell me that's enough. One thing I know for sure, they'd have loved you guys!

  2. I can vividly remember expecting to get sick at any moment, then the incredible guilt when I didn't. My Mom begged me not to visit my friends in the hospital, because we had no idea how you caught it. I know she had it rough too. Then Reagan refused to help at all. I still honestly believe that administration was hoping we'd all just die. As flawed as they might have been, my heroes are still Elton and Liz. They seemed to be the only ones who cared enough to do anything. It was terrible, but it did bring us together in a way that never could have happened otherwise. I never want to forget that. My two best friends were a couple. I had rented a room from them for at one point. They died within a few months of each other. I miss them all the time. RIP Kelly and Dana.

  6. I was doing some temp work in a small hospital back in the early days and we had one patient on the floor who had AIDS. He was lucky that there were friends there 24/7 to keep him company. His family loved him but were too afraid to visit so they would call him once a day. The other nurses were very professional but you could tell that they were also afraid. The patient was more afraid than anyone though. I can't remember ever seeing someone who was falling into such a deep depression. I used to have to collect myself every time I left his room.

  9. Hugs, Steve. Living in fear is tough, but dying alone like a leper is worse. It speaks spades of you that you cared of your friends, and that you keep the memory of those days alive.

  14. *knives*. 'knifes' is a conjugation of the verb, as in, "Jacob knifes Dusty out of frustration with his pedantry..."

  15. Well, goats still exist, as do knifes.

  16. Let me know what you negotiate, so I can undercut Chris with my 970 GTX, because saving money and seeing Chris suffer is a win-win, right Brent?

  17. Preorders go live at 11AM EST tomorrow morning on geforce.com. As one of the fools who sits at the head of the Head-Case hand-me-down chain I am contractually obligated to purchase one.

  20. It is sad, but I know I'm a better person for going through it. And even though many (Jerry fucking Falwell) tried to use the events to spread their hate, in the long run it backfired. Love and compassion won out, and many more stand behind us than ever have before. I thank you guys for all the hugs! And I'm fine, just taking a walk through the past. We have vets here that have been through much worse, and I can only imagine what they live through.

  25. Episode 2 brought back so many memories of that terrible period of time. It was scary as all hell! 11 of my friends died of AIDS. It really did seem to be the end of the world.

  30. If anybody knows how to spell "knives," it's Jacob. Surely it's a coincidence than the "F" key and the "V" key are so close together on a QWERTY keyboard. Jacob also knifes Dusty out of frustration over his typo-pointing-outed-ness.

  39. I bought a pair of the flows this week after a first listen, got them home to do war with the 009s, does suck directly compared, but not by much. A different tonal balance, very pleasing overall - I think they’ll be a great addition to the system.

  43. So my son Andrew has been accepted to his 4 top schools, with great merit from 2, OK from 1, and we were waiting to hear from 1 (Clarkson, his top choice). Clarkson Financial letter came today, and at first it was disappointing, showing a decent but 3rd lowest amount in 2017, same in 2018, and then nothing beyond. THEN, we read more closely: FALL of 2017 and SPRING of 2018..... It turned out to be the highest of all the schools so far for a year, renewable for the 3 additional years as long as he maintains grades. WOOOOOO-FUCKING-HOOO are we psyched!!! The Hermit Boy even agreed to go out to a celebratory dinner with us So fucking proud.....he did this.....had some help to coordinate, but he did it.....

  44. So the Denafrips arrived an hour or so ago and here are some pics. First off, it can certainly hold its ground against the MSB Platinum DAC3 with the new Carbon CC and SR-007Mk1BL. Way too early for an concrete findings but resolution in the Denafrips might be a bit better, the sound just a tad more forward and maybe a tad thinner...not sure to be honest but the DAC is still dead cold. Over all the build quality is excellent, solid steel box with an aluminum front panel. All quality pieces used through out and even the mains select switch is a nice C&K unit, not the horrible open cheapo shit that's in the Holo.
