  1. Planted 10 different tomato plants, 5 pepper plants, and a cucumber, a melon, and a zucchini. Should have some good stuff starting in a month or so.

  4. Suzuki-san confirmed this was for dac or phono board when I talked to him at the show. You should have asked me that before, I would have brought it up! Also he confirmed the dedicated low voltage supply for the addon board. Jude got other things confirmed when he visited Stax office on Friday (such as power supply regulation), I hope to see some news posted in the HF thread at some point. I liked what I heard on brief listen when compared to stock 727 amp, it felt more significant than differences between other stax amps. Of course, this is to be taken with a pinch of salt given the short audition / show conditions etc... Oh, and it does look very nice in person, sand blast finish on the aluminum panels, reminiscent of the SR009. It's bigger than other stax amps but nothing compared to my BHSE, I can see people wanting this. Arnaud

  5. I have a hard time giving the review much credit when different amps were used for different headphones during the review. This "trust me they sound the same because I believe so and told you so" thing is beyond me.

  6. I've already put in an order for one so a full dissection is coming as soon as I can have one shipped to Kevin. The 600LE used ECC99's... only the T2 has the 6922's in the input section.

  7. Actually, won't Colin need two big tables for his raffle winnings?

  8. That was meant as a joke about Colin's food consumption. I guess it didn't come across that way.

  9. I was pretty happy with it but it's a whole new world with the new wheels and suspension. This last run was almost 4 seconds faster than my first two and I nailed and dragged a bunch of cones on run 3 (I got lost) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

  10. Picked one up mostly due to an interesting feature set. I've had good experience with RME gear being technically impeccable, but falling a bit short in listening tests. The ADI-2 Pro was intended to be an office rig, but I lug it to and fro work, it's that good. Ended up buying one of the limited Anniversary Editions, cuz it's black and has moar pretty. It runs my HD800 balanced with 6x OPA1688 chips pre channel. Sounds as good or better as I've heard any HD800 perform. It also does 5 band PEQ which makes HD800's actually listenable. For my Equator Q12 I use the back XLR's and intend to hook up a MiniDSP via optical to integrate two custom 15" subs. Anyho - check this thing out, if you're looking for an interesting source unit. Cheerio. P.S. Nudie (almost Gilmore sized)

  11. yes that is what I found also just a light coating or its a problem so you might tin it and wick some off the outside can and should be redone with a small tip iron. the kester flux I have dries up too early and gets sticky so that doesn't help haven't found any really good flux for this yet paste might work better here but don't have any recommend checking for shorts before power, I lost one that wasn't checked with practice and the right tools this can be done many times with out damage to the board preheating is a good Idea, even to 150F helps toaster oven-candle warmer-heating pad-light-something

  12. I can vouch for these chassis, I've got two and am finishing the first built. Well worth every penny, would cost many times this in a finished product.

  13. Seven musicians who each played [at least] seven instruments. Really quite an impressive project. Plenty of people seemed to have gone to both nights to hear the full 50 song memoir. I think it might have been too much for me personally but we were sorry to miss A Cat Named Dionysus (1968).

  14. Katz said the Utopia was the one with the channel imbalance, which he even "corrected" for, and apparently none of the listeners heard an imbalance on the LCD-4 despite it being up to 3dB different in the most sensitive audio region so after seeing the measurements I don't trust his/their hearing at all. That said, I wonder which version of Utopia I heard at Canjam as it was definitely bright in the upper mid to lower treble and a bit bass light.

  15. Any suggestions for accommodations for the (sadly underrepresented) travel team?

  16. Despite the Katz sample and the new sample being nearly the same, I suspect most purchasers will be of the view that they have the "Tyll version", especially when it comes time to sell.

  17. So Stax claimed that the HV supplies are regulated? I will have to call bullshit on that as the HV supplies have two 220uf/400V caps in them (clearly seen in the Japanese video) so no headroom to regulate a +/-350V supply. Now there is a single heatsink in there so they might be regulating something for the tube front end, who knows but the main rails are not regulated. Could be the DC heater supply for the front end... As for the rest of it, to me it looks like a 727 with a new tube based front end and all the NPN HV resistors swapped out for parallel run SMD devices, probably 2SC6127. Aluminum backed PCB and then three or so used instead of the single TO220 devices. As for the size, looks a bit deeper than than the T1W but same width.

  18. Waiting for Magnetic Fields. Claire picked this show somewhat randomly and it turns out it is the second 25 songs for each year of the lead singer's life (1990 to 2015). Should be fun.

  19. Very interesting indeed. I had just thought Bob Katz heard things differently and I didn't agree with him. I must have a warmer Utopia...

  22. Tyll has measured the headphones Bob Katz used for his shootout, plus another new sample of the Utopia: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/katzs-corner-episode-16-smoking-gun Bob's LCD-4 appears to be more balanced in the treble range than the pair Tyll reviewed. The new Utopias are way brighter than the pair Tyll reviewed....

  24. Yeah, retro computing is a "thing". Lot of internet forums support it. Oh, I already have an original PET. this one: C64s haven't really appreciated much in value yet. (they will though, with time) Atari 800s are trending upwards. Both are very popular still. (with the retro geeks) One of the best oldies to hold onto are the first Apple II computers. (not the IIe variant) They are selling on ebay for ~$2000+.

  28. Nice cinematography in this one, it deserves to be seen on a big Screen. Would a road trip to meet your legal counsel (with a stop off at the dunes "just pause the video and look at his gps" ) count as a deductible business expense?
