Nope. They are claiming to have delivered them. But I am skeptical as I was home, and it seems highly unlikely that in the 20 minutes between delivery and my checking that someone, in broad daylight, in front of a busy elementary school, picked up three large boxes containing 50lbs of steel plates* and walked off. The overnight was from Mouser. UPS rescheduled for Monday, but Mouser seems to have stepped in to move it up to Saturday. * I'm taking a welding class!

Just remember that Doug is a hard grader.

Myself as well. The combination of welding and woodworking opens up lots of furniture building options. But now I can get Doug to teach me!

I aim to please... Wink is right though, we have spent a lot of time with these systems, comparing back and forth so small variations as thus amplified. It is one of the reasons why I think meet impressions as such utter BS only used to drive sales. You need some time with each component in a system you know to really gauge how it performs.

I have two ECP amps as well, though one (Black Diamond) has only been used literally once in about 5 months..... Using balanced phones only right now, with a custom DHSA-3F (F for Focal), and the E-Stat with a Mjolnir Carbon. Might sell the Black Diamond, only to surely replace it when the new Torpedo or other ECP S/E amps come out It still kicks butt on almost all other S/E amps I've had or heard!

I wish people would stop making headphones after I decided to stop buying them.

So, I got my dad's UG back. I had asked that the case be cleaned up, but that the polish be conservative. In hindsight, maybe I should have asked for a bit more polishing, but the watch looks honest. I have it on a late 60's NOS Spiedel Teju-skin strap, with a correct UG gold filled buckle. The watch wears extremely comfortably, and has a totally different flavor from anything else I own: I'm very glad to have it, both for those reasons and that it connects me to a period of my dad's life that I know very little about, even if just tangentially. Sorry for the slightly out-of-focus wrist shot.

Yeah I ended up spending double what I planned on. It seemed to fit and sound better than other guitars in the same range. Now if I can just build up some callouses. Ouch!

Yep, don't overthink it. Any Stax system you get will reset your thinking of what good sound is. All these reports about the vast differences between different gear are from people who are very intimate with the sound of the different gear. Very small differences can sound huge when you have trained your ears to critical listening. Add to that your own personal preferences, and you have a real bunfight. The best advice in your journey to the balance of sound vs cost is to take things slowly and take time to smell the sonic flowers....

I wish I could stop buying headphones.

DIY Perun headphone has been around for about 10 years ,a DIY project, and this is the latest incarnation of it.I have followed the development of this phone on the russian forum for years and unfortunately the thread where it was introduced was deleted.This phone has gone through many stages and many prototypes ,even tens of different pads were tested.Every corner of this phone has been investigated to reach best possible performance.In it's latest version wich is the last and final version is comparable to the best stat phones around,many prefer these over Orpheus and SR-009.The driver is about 50% larger than 009 and is very efficient and easy to drive.This DIY project has gone commercial http://perun.prfi.ru/ I have ordered one and will test it soon and compare it to 009 and other Staxes.

Flew in to San Francisco for my sister's pa school white coat ceremony at Berkeley. Flying out tomorrow. She has worked extremely hard and was given the academic award for having the highest gpa in didactics. Extremely proud of her. Wish I had more time. The city looks great fun.

I spent the day on the phone with UPS after they lost 3 packages and declined to deliver a 4th that was overnighted.

So, I did lots of things today, but the thing that really stood out was my going "what the fuck?" One of my speakers was off its base. It happens to be the speaker that is next to where the cats get catnip. Could cats really move a 70+ pound speaker? I know that it isn't that hard to move, given that it's on spikes on a polished granite (I've knocked it off the base a couple times myself), but really? Cats? I'm 99.99% sure that no human touched the speaker today, until I put it back where it belonged. Speaker undamaged, but really. Cats? Cats. CATS!!
