  1. You can make it better if you can find a Headroom DPS power supply to power the Lite MKII instead of the brick. I spent about a week with the GSX mini and it was fantastic sounding with wide-range of different headphones.

  2. The notorious test of cartridge/arm, the pressing marked A11 is the real killer. My Zu/DL103, SMEIV (with damper) and Garrard 401 tracked it like a champ. And frightened the bejeezus out of me at the first cannon shot! This is what the grooves look like:

  5. FWIW, there's some good press on the (latest revision) of the SMSL SU-8 DAC. ESS 9038PRO chipset, remote control with preamp out. I have one that hasn't left the box yet. If it's for you Bryan (IE, the proverbial "friend") I can lend it to you for a bit.... Normal cost is I think $250.....sometimes on Massdrop for $200 or so.

  6. Odd, my Google translation came back- "I love headphones. Come drink my beer and listen to my beautiful beautiful music" Ken, you must not have the latest Google update.

  7. Yes, Justin did confirm it and I did try it and hear good improvements. The Astrodyne PSU is also another one that you could try over the supplied brick PSU for noticeable improvement. https://www.musicdirect.com/equipment/headroom-astrodyne-power-supply

  8. I rotated the Jfets. I don´t notice any change. Good opportunity to check Bias, voltage, tighten connectors ... everything is correct. The only thing I have noticed is that the plates have lost a bit of bright green due to the heat.

  13. I have never laughed harder than I have at some of those skits on the Carol Burnett show. As hard, maybe; harder, no. The world is a less jovial place.

  16. The Police – Ghost in the Machine Wikipedia: " The cover art for Ghost in the Machine features a seven-segment display-inspired graphic that depicts the heads of the three band members, each with a distinctive hair style (from left to right, Andy Summers, Sting with spiky hair, and Stewart Copeland with a fringe); the band was unable to decide on a photograph to use for the cover. Wire bonds can be seen on the original issue vinyl album cover, suggesting perhaps that the display is a photographic collage. The album's cover is ranked at No. 45 in VH1's 50 Greatest Album Covers. The graphic was designed by Mick Haggerty." Me: Stares at album cover for a while – "Ok, that's kind of clever. And also brilliantly cheap. Why can't I have ideas like this?" and "What an incredible album. The haters can suck it."

  17. I thought I'd share this here. Yesterday, I flew down to meet some of the most prolific Electrostatic collectors in Bangalore, India. This was their first time seeing or listening to the RR1 Conquest - A lot of the people there were STAX owners of course, many owning 009s, 007s etc as well as some very sophisticated Amplification was present there as well. I also brought along the XP1, which stands for "Experimental Prototype 1". The XP1 was our original test mule that was created to be subjected to the worse possible conditions and also served as our stress mule, having over >3000 hours of service. It was on our dummy head running various impulses for 4 months, 24 hours, all day every day. It still lives but I had to open and clean the drivers once as there is intentional lack of dust protection on it. The XP1 is named after the McLaren F1 XP1, which I regard as one of the greatest examples of man and machine harmony. The XP1 is a special chassis that I intend to keep for my personal collection. Here are some impressions from the folks at the meet (I have taken a direct screenshot from the TIAF group) - I'm glad they liked it but I will say this - I don't like hype. It's the worst thing in the world. These guys are quite experienced and have been in the game longer than me but I still say, take it with a grain of salt. I might be the only Manufacturer in Headphone history to say that but, that's how I like doing business. I don't like hype, that's why I will be travelling around the world to show the Headphone this year. Hopefully, people get to hear it for themselves! Also, this was my first time listening to RR1 on the KGSSHV Carbon and oh boy! I have two "normal" KGSSHVs on order from Spritzer as my primary Amplification for international shows, I think I will need to get the Carbon too for my home setup. That thing is pure lunacy.

  18. Got to try the GS-X Mini and the Gilmore Lite MKII with my Laylas at Axpona. Very impressed with both with the little CIEMs, not sure I have any headphones to use with the big one anymore, but when Justin decides to make me a Lite in the blue color above, I will definitely add it to the desktop. ?

  20. I had a memory foam mattress for several years. Comfortable for both my bride and I, one a side sleeper and the other a stomach sleeper. Warm in the winter, hot in the summer, but oh so comfortable. However, when I replaced it I found a local manufacturer with an incredible reputation who does very little advertising. Makes coil spring mattresses. Had ours for a year and both my bride and I like it .... a lot! A lot of bang for the buck. Lots of websites of questionable support (manufacturers), reputation (paid by manufacturers) or just awful advice. Found https://www.themattressunderground.com to be reliable depending on how much effort you want to put into purchasing a new mattress.
