The brisket finished crazy fast after I wrapped so clearly the cook times on the Traeger are going to be quite a bit different than the electric smoker. Not too concerned about it being done early, I'll just have to check the internal temp about an hour before dinner and reheat as needed. Felt super tender to the probe so here's to hoping I got this one right.3 points

I will listen to all shills before settling on my DAC. Lumin Shills, is it your opinion that I would need to add a preamp between the T2 and Powered Monitors?2 points

Not grilling, but cold smoking... 😎 made a zero cost cold smoker with Epson workforce pro ! ... ;} So, my very very old Smoky Joe with a coil burner stolen from an old electric oven wired for 120v {aaa, I just soldered a plug on it} a chunk of drier hose {drier didn't need that much anyway}, built a rack inside box from scrap wood. Cut a hole. Done. Smoked for 20 min on a small charge. 88 degrees in box. Will test it out for real with hickory and smoking rye grains.2 points

I've gotten feedback from some people that the LeedH volume control is better than their preamp volume control, even via the Lumin digital output into a DAC. (I haven't tried that comparison yet.) And it's definitely better than the previous Lumin volume control algorithm.1 point

I first met Albert (RIP!) when he was introducing his original VR4 for the first time in public. I thought they were incredible value for performance, which was true of VR4 Jr that came later. Seems like many pioneers in audio are passing away one by one...😰1 point

Ok, that makes sense. When you increase the output device bias current, you need to tweak the offset adjustment chain (R26 and VR1 - 2K and 1K respectively in the schematic) so you can adjust the offset close to 0V. The easiest thing to do is to decrease R26 but make sure the voltage drop is somewhat even between R26 and VR1 so they are not stressed. I posted earlier in this thread of a similar effort I made on my build: https://www.head-case.org/forums/topic/8327-im-on-a-roll-the-kgsshv/page/187/ The goal is to get the offset and balance close to 0V as possible. They will drift a bit and that's normal.1 point

I believe there is a small error in the BOM for the GR79xx. Q2 is stated as "PNP silicon kst42 or MMBTA92" but the kst42 is NPN I believe it should be a kst92, given in the golden reference through hole, the transistor at that position is a PNP AND the MMBTA92 is a PNP.1 point

What Von Schweikerts do you have? I've owned a pair of VR4 Gen IIs for a number of years now; still happy with them.1 point

I've asked this question before - what's the lowest offset voltage you can adjust to with the higher bias current of the output devices (lower R5, R6 values)? I would first get the offset and balance to reasonable range and see if that affects the distortion issue you are experiencing. If the amp is set up properly you should be able to get both to below 1V easily. If the amp was originally set for lower bias, increasing the bias current may cause the amp to run out of offset adjustment range without making change to the offset adjustment circuit.1 point

The Brooklyn DAC+/Bridge has a very good HP out that you can use single ended or balanced. You do need an adapter for balanced, but that just gives the opportunity to buy more shit. I do want to hook it to the GSX when it returns. You also have the option to use the volume as analog, digital or true bypass. I guess I’m a Mytek shill.1 point

Warhammer 40,000 9th Edition – people seem to take Warhammer literally, which is weird (I can see where it's necessary to flesh out the universe for the video games and books). It's meant to be silly fun. The rules are meaningless to me as I haven't played Warhammer since the first edition, but I do enjoy the videos and absurd Spice Marine memes. Regarding the commenters' complaints about the video (too clean) – I think Games Workshop is trying to bring in a younger group of new players (again), so having too much blood and gore in the intro would make it difficult to bring them in.1 point

Done! Neutrik 4 pin xlr mounted from behind with blind taps. all in all went well considering it was done all with a hand drill. No drill press around 😔 The on/off indicator led was mounted underneath the case, makes for a nice effect. Quite happy with the result! Now the quest for a better streamer starts!1 point
