  1. Signed up for Trade Coffee a while back because I’m lazy and like trying new things. So far all the coffee I’ve received has been really good and ultra fresh. Latest batch that I received a couple days ago.

Yes! Come on over... Turns out the Plasma Drive module doesn't fit all the way to the right in the Mantis case I got, so I had to move it to the center. It looks ridiculous when you're driving a signal through it with the voltage turned up:
  3. Posting these for Brent's entertainment.
  4. DACs seem to be going the way of the computer chip circa 2000. It's hard to keep up. They're improving at a very quick pace. I'm waiting for the dust to settle a bit.
  5. Took an hour long walk at Shelby Farms park. Yesterday it was the Wolf river trail in Germantown. Tennessee has a lot more nature areas to wander around in Than North Texas.
  6. Battery Park Beach, 1977. Totally surreal.
  7. Only the tasty die young?
  8. Finished coat rack, with wall fixings hidden underneath the outside hangers
  9. Yes. Legend of Lumbar starts reminiscing a lot of "My favourite things", which is somewhat enhanced by the chord progression. Interesting group, thanks Dusty.
  10. Ah, that is why it kept playing...
  11. Tune? I thought I posted the whole playlist. Alas. I definitely agree that the Lydian Collective were front and center, and Capital Orchestra is more of an accompaniment, but I believe that was the intention. If you liked the music, their first album (rather, their whole catalog -- the first album plus a couple singles) is more of the same: https://lydiancollective.bandcamp.com/album/adventure Me, have moved on to fox capture plan. Just discovered them, will probably listen to their entire catalog what's available on streaming (Spotify/Tidal/YouTube)
  12. Thanks Dusty. I like the tune, reminds me of a lot of 80s jazz that I would listen to (yellowjackes, spyro gyra, etc.). Overall the balance for the amplified to the acoustic instruments was off to me. I could see the strings grinding away but could only hear a whisper of them.

It proves it. Gingers only get love from other Gingers.
  14. This could be interesting. Shimmy Coffee Sieve https://fellowproducts.com/products/shimmy-coffee-sieve
  15. The Option-O Remi has some issues that piss me off, in human/machine interface design and just “what the fuck were you thinking?” design, but two things that don’t piss me off are grind quality and grounds retention. Those are, respectively, “impeccable” and “none to the error margin of my scales.*” Plus it’s a good bicep workout. I put 32.51 grams of beans in and got 32.5/49/51 grams of too fine (my fault) grounds out. Made a good cup after I adjusted my pour (I wasn’t gonna waste 32.51 grams of these beans**). *and I have good scales. **I was willing to waste the error-margin worth.
  16. Lydian Collective live with the Capital Orchestra: I don't know what to call this, "composed jazz"? It's instrumental, so 10 years ago I would have lumped it under my "new instrumentalism" moniker, which they would very much fit under.

  18. Thanks for the listen Rob. Voyager Quartet - Message of Love. Smaller heart tugs.
  19. Speaking of which (9.8 freedom lbs) Diet Coke can for scale.
  20. Another Carbon in the works, I received my panels and drilled heatsinks back today. I haven’t put it together yet... I sure hope everything fits. Adobe Illustrator preliminary file:

Our friend is on his way back to Italy now that the Olympics are over. His foil fencer took gold so for all of you non-Olympic athletes take note
  24. Your meat pictures reminds me of the lambchetta that we had the other night. Localish lamb loin wrapped in lamb belly like a porchetta. Very tasty and a great way to mix the lean loin with fatty and succulent belly without being overwhelming. I'm going to ask a good butcher back home if they can prepare one...

Uhh, with your height isn't 100 meters just three steps?
  26. In the last three hours I've found out Eastern Electric is out of business, Resonessence Labs is out of business, Lavry hasn't brought a new dac to market since the DA11, and Macs stopped including toslink outs. When does the madness end?
  27. I agree with Pars - that's the real emerging market. I don't see audiophile-oriented headphone products being embraced by average people. Most people I know and work with look at me strange when I told them I use a headphone amp when I listen to my headphone. Most of the time, the next sentence is "what the hell is a headphone amp?".
  28. Most of the people I work with in a tech company think whatever Bluetooth shit you buy at Best Buy is the end-all be-all of the best sound you can get. They don’t even really comprehend that it could be better, and frankly don’t care. 128k MP3s are just fine with them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The first runner in our silver medal GB 4x100m sprint team, Ujah, has tested positive for two banned performance enhancement substances. The whole team loses their silver medals, and forfeits any other benefits such as appearance money. That will be a lifetime ban for the fucker - and that is absolutely right. The question I want to be asked, is what did GB sport, and the British Olympic Association fail to do? Surely they test athletes on a regular basis as part of the selection process? I am so fucking angry. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/58205602

RIP to Tab "Hunter" In a double whammy after losing my mother-in-law Friday night, yesterday we had to put down our kitty. Tab was "my" boy, he loved to be cradled when I picked him up, and he would extend his paws out in a bit of a hug, and kneed my neck. But he loved pets and scratches from Karen as well, who always had better nails for it than me. We're very sad, but he was diagnosed last August with lung cancer, and given as little as 2 weeks back then. 9-10 months later, he was still with us. So we're also very glad to have had that extra time.
