  1. On the way to Bodega Bay for some fish and chips, and a walk, we stopped in Bodega, to admire the School house from "The Birds" and The Church (St. Teresa of Avila) Ansel Adams took a picture in 1953 So I did (composition from memory), on the last day of 2021
  2. Can't decide which I like better. Found both because @manaox2 is a member of the FB Kubrick Society and he posted the first one.
  3. Happy New Year!!!
  4. Happy New Year HC! #NFLO
  5. Or if your 2021 was similar to 2020...
  6. Anyone that wants to give the Chemex a try, Domestic Domestic has them for 40% off. Decided to give it a try after using a V60 for a while.
  7. Happy New Year, Head Case! It can't be worse than this / last year, right? (2022, "Hold my beer", ?)
  8. Happy New Year all!
  9. We just got done with dinner. I have gained some weight over the holidays: the waistcoat wasn’t so tight when I tried it on before the trip!
  10. New year's Eve fish and chips In Bodega Bay
  11. I was beginning to think she couldn't die. It would have been nice for her to make it to 100 next month (same birthday as my brother and same birth year as my father). RIP Betty.
  12. I like chemex a lot, but it’s it’s own cup of coffee. A straw or chopstick in the spout helps keep the drawdown from stalling, btw, as it keeps the filter from completely sealing to the glass (which doesn’t usually happen, but it can). And that’s a good price!
  13. I read a bit about what you and Reks wrote before pulling the trigger. I will update the thread once I get a chance to try it out.
  14. Belated Happy Birthday!
  15. Not what I thought I was about to see ... For the observant, that's Brent's favorite drummer, Chuck Biscuits. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Biscuits
  16. Rotem Sivan - Antidote It's available on Qobuz and probably other streaming services on better sound quality than free Bandcamp. I found this guitarist on YouTube for he posts some lessons on theory, which end up being more about his perception of music and tone than tips you can use on your playing or training. Either way his music is not conventional yet not being weird or "too free". This album also sounds terrific.
  17. Happy Birthday! 1
  18. happy 2022 everyone. May your dream transistors finally be back in stock (and not deleted by onsemi....).
  19. When you still have difficulties to find 2SA1943/2SC5200 (probably not, as they were so popular), Toshiba sells their successors TTA1943/TTC5200 also. They should be a bit cheaper than 2SA/2SC, and have better performance with modern technology. In below thread I find sentences "TT transistors showed outstanding endurance levels. These transistors were almost indestructible and extremely rugged well in excess of MIL standards". https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/2sc5200-and-ttc5200.233303/
  20. Happy New Year!!! Cheers to a better year.
  21. I'm just having breakfast, so that's a good suggestion!

  24. An Icon in every sense of the word. I was first introduced to her as Sue Ann Nivens, on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. I've loved everything she's done and stood for every since.
  25. We just put the house on the market. Shit is getting real.
  26. Personally, I always thought that this issue is overblown. Below is a chart of normal hearing loss with age, shown as hearing threshold db per freq per age group, for men and women. There are many versions of this same chart floating around, this particular one was recently reproduced in a Lancet article. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanwpc/article/PIIS2666-6065(21)00040-7/fulltext We know that the magic in music happens in the midrange. Sure, there is spatial information in the high frequencies etc, but honestly, we can all change eq settings / equipment / listening levels as our hearing shifts with age. When we are first exposed to music that we fall in love with, in our teens and younger years, it's not because we can hear what's going on at 15khz. Or even 8. We often listen with crappy speakers and headphones in those ages anyway. Is it unfortunate that we can often afford more gear as we get older and our hearing gets crappier? maybe. But all of the riffs, melodies, lines, and even harmonies I love listening to should still remain well audible in my older ages.
  27. From dinner last night, homemade nachos carnitas w/ pico and cheese, served with homemade guac and sour cream.
  28. Sustenance for two hard working cabinet makers.
  29. R.I.P. Betty White...
