  1. With permission, then, here's the story. When my mom passed away in 2011, Steve made a beautiful box to hold her ashes and it was very special to me and my family. Claire's mom's memorial and internment is next month and I had been meaning to ask him for another favor but it slipped my mind until just days ago. Being such an amazing guy, Steve immediately said yes and started work the next day. He's already finished a turned lacewood urn and will ship it tomorrow. Claire and her sister are thrilled that their nature loving, conservationist mother will not be put in the ground in a plastic box, and of course I am eternally grateful to Steve for his beautiful work and friendship.

  4. It was last night, but I had a Century Burger at Belcampo: a 100-day dry aged steak burger with a half-inch slab of raclette cheese, whole-grain mustard aioli, caramelized onions, arugula, and a spritz of 100-proof whisky on a sesame-seed brioche bun. And beef tallow fries on the side. Pretty damn good, though $28 is steep for a burger.

  5. They re-ran this last night, and I watched it. Wow! I really did learn a lot that I didn't know. And if you're a liberal, democrat, pinko fag like me, and the thought of Trump as president makes you break into a cold sweat, this will only serve to reinforce your fears. He's a much bigger asshole than even I thought possible. His lack of any humanity is absolutely chilling. Don't get me wrong, I'm not of the opinion that Hillary is any kind of saint, but the choice between the two is a no brainer in my mind. Sorry Trump fans, just my opinion.

  7. I'm not going to post a pic, but I finally tracked down a PCS 7067/8 Beatles White Album. NM vinyl, but the sleeve and labels looks like they were dipped in water and tossed in a cave (maybe they were?). It took a significant cleaning (1 part 91% isopro, 1 part distilled water, .5 parts white vinegar, two caps of jet dry, in a half liter spray bottle, followed by microfiber cloths), but it sounds amazing.

  11. Hey, thanks everyone. I appreciate it. My birthday was a fun day, mildly so anyway. Nothing too exciting but I got to hang out with some friends in Miami for part of the day, and then some other friends in Tampa later in the evening after driving back across Alligator Alley. Flew back to Cayman today to get ready for teaching this Fall quarter. Life is good. I've got no complaints!

  16. I need some advice with the construction of a power cord. I am ready to case my Carbon finally and it will be a two-chassis layout; one chassis for the power supply (GR HV, LV and transformers) and one chassis for the amp. The power supply connection will be through a 7-wire cable (ground, +580 VDC, +400 VDC, -400 VDC, +15VDC, -15VDC and one wire will be unused for now). I plan for the cable to be about 3 feet long to provide flexibility in placement. My questions are: 1. Is 3 feet too long? If so, what's the appropriate length without causing problems or degradation in power supply quality? 2. Should the 7 wires be braided, twisted or just leave them parallel to each other? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice!

  23. About as far away from that as can be. Not really for me to expand on. I don't have as much opportunity to do woodworking as I once did, and the client knows that, so I imagine he wouldn't post about it for my benefit. But I wanted to hint that this time it's OK, because it's a really special honor for me.

  27. Great years. You both had great great years. And it's because you're really, really great people. I don't know, this is what people say, thousands of people are telling me. Believe me, I've got my people looking into it. It'll be amazing. Believe me. And your next 25 years? They'll be great again.

  29. The Choice: 2016 on Frontline. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/the-choice-2016/ Fascinating and balanced 2-hour bio on the two candidates. Frontline certainly doesn't pull their punches on either. I learned a lot about both Hillary and Donald that I didn't know before. Very highly recommended!

  32. Had some old college friends come in I haven't seen in years, and met up with another one who just moved to town a few months ago. I was the culinary tour guide. At Taconooga, we shared some fries cactus. I had chicken and steak Taconooga tacos, with cheese and corn. Friends had chorizo, lengua, and a handful of others. Then the non-taco eating friend had the largest chicken tamale I've come across. Turns out this place offered something my friend wanted to try. We were going to order this top one to sample (corn truffle one) but then the server said they can do half that and half of the bottom (squash.) Not my scene, but I did enjoy the corn truffle one more. There was some gelato from Milk & Honey not pictured, before we went to get drinks elsewhere. Well, someone got so drunk (2nd time in her life to get drunk) we had to wait a while for her to recover, so she and I split some ox tail with a side of fried plantains at a Cuban rum bar called Embargo '62. The drinking thread will be updated, but there was a 151 soaked crouton that was in a beverage we shared... It was technically consumed. But served its purpose well in the moments leading up to its demise. Great bloody day. **BRENT** Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
