Tidal Masters sounds good to my iron ears so far. Might be placebo, might be just being high but as long as it pleases me, don't really care about the fine details.7 points

This was yesterday, but I had an excellent second date. She ("New Emily") lived in Europe for several years, until quite recently, and lost her driving privileges in Ohio. I tutored her on the Ohio maneuverability portion, which is basically just parallel parking. Went well! She failed that part three times in the last two months, so I can't possibly have hindered things.5 points

I had a ball cap and raincoat hood on and just didn't realize how close it was. Not going to mess around with it anymore.4 points

Interesting. Ex-Sony and Philips people so not mugs. Looks to be well thought out and well built and the price seems reasonable ($5K for DAC/Amp and Phones). Sort of the anti-HIFIMAN?3 points

Tidal has the MQA software decoder built in so it is able to "unfold" the file. The next version of Audirvana will have it also.2 points

The only thing whippersnapper about you, is the fact that you still need training wheels on your bicycle!2 points

the various curated lp of the month clubs I was part of were interesting, but I stopped them because I couldn't keep up. Even 1 new record a month is often too much. But now I have a LOT of stuff to listen to now that I'm mostly living on my own in a strange town2 points

the MQA David Bowie stuff sounds great and yeah Mike B Grateful Dead live at Nassau Coliseum sounds stellar. I hope they don't jack the price for the masters mqa streaming.2 points

I won't go if they do -- there just isn't enough of a catalog to justify it yet.1 point

They are a bit smaller but I need to series connect to bring down number of values used so space saving is pretty much zero. My goal is to have them assembled for me a thus cut the cost of the amps.1 point

Amazon.com Local record shops are great for you old fucks, but for we whippersnappers looking for nostalgia, it's hundreds and hundreds of dollars (just ask @postjack,) or reissues. Going through bins is basically pointless for me, as the stuff we wanted was limited on vinyl, if at all, and mostly on CD/cassette. At least we can get some Colin Approved music at your door by the time you get home on Tuesday. **BRENT**1 point

Like I said, I'm lucky. http://www.theanalogroom.net/ That's where I buy most of my new stuff. I have to watch my pennies so it's great to be able to ask the guys who hang out there what the "must haves" are. Most of the time, there's something playing on one of their systems that makes it onto the list.1 point

I totally agree that flipping through record bins and checking out what other fans are buying is very satisfying. I always wished that someone like Amoeba had an attached coffee house. I'm blessed with a wealth of local sources so most of the time I "buy local". And even though I've been known to say that I refuse to buy albums from someone who has less than 3 visible body piercings, I have bought from Acoustic Sounds and Music Direct. I also buy from Bleep and Third Man Records every once in a while. For the most part, all these guys are great at packing and shipping their records so IMHO, that's a non factor.1 point

A - I was giving Ryan a hard time in a friendly way (hence the suggestion to go to the store 2 blocks from one of his favorite restaurants). B - call it what you will, but for me, vinyl is about experiencing music in a way that has been lost with digital and streaming. Slowing down listening is certainly one part of it, but so is being able to dig through record bins, talking to people at record stores, holding a large physical object with real cover art, etc.1 point
-
for me vinyl's not about nostalgia, but about slowing down. I don't want to slow down my shopping experience, I want to slow down my listening experience.1 point

Luckily on this ride we did some real mountain biking with logs and drop offs etc. and I realized I dislike MTBing on a fatbike just as much as I did on a full suspension 29er so saved $4k today as the Fatboy is just fine for a winter commute bike, no need for anything more. Finished up my data center closet shelf. Most of the work is hidden behind my UPS, but basically coax, Ethernet and power in a 2-gang wall plate.1 point

@pars thanks for the info, was puzzeld about the 3th rectifier and didn't take much time thinking of it, a bit of wiggling and it's out now. Something new learned about the grlv, used it the first time. That's a part i love about head-case, helpful people and always something new to learn. @ang728 look nice your amp, building this in a small case is like a 3d puzzel, part of the fun for me.1 point

Looks good. It appears that you populated all 3 bridge rectifiers in the Power Supply? You should remove the center one. It is there for people who want to use a center-tapped transformer. Since you are using a dual secondary transformer, only the 2 outer bridges are used (BR1 and BR2 in the schematic). With a center-tapped transformer (say 20-0-20), only the center bridge (BR3 in schematic) is used.1 point

@skullguise @guzziguy I'm okey Sirs. Thanks for the concern. I knew that shit was going to happen somewhere, and stayed at home yesterday. Again government and the religious group's leaders gave fatwa against celebrating new year. So this happens... RIP all. I heard the silences of ambulances all night. So many young people died.1 point
