Yup, Pretty freakin' awesome up here in Oregon! Just a tiny sliver left here in Eugene and it got pretty dark. Took an hour off from my unpacking duties as everyone in the state stopped and gathered their attention to the heavens. We were one!7 points

I've heard and loved most of the classic Grados . I've owned every pink driver model (RS1, SR325, SR100/200/300) and find they represent my favorite John Grado sound, but I always ended up selling them on. Then I found these weird things: These have the smaller red/pink drivers found on John's earliest headphones, and HP1000 gimbals. The cups are very shallow, about the same depth as early SR60s, and as a result they don't fit in the gimbals properly. You have to insert them "backwards" to get the angle right when they're on your head, but it doesn't negatively effect the comfort. They sound phenomenal. Similar to the earliest RS1, but they're designed to be worn with flats. The inscription on the buttons matches that of the prototype RS1s given to dealers, but I've never seen the cup style used anywhere else. All in all, I'm smitten. Thanks everyone. Sorry I haven't been around much. Between Penelope never stopping moving and the arrival of Piper in June, it's been a crazy few months. I hope everyone is doing well!!! Oh, and Steve... That was actually my cake last year from the surprise party Lauren threw for me!4 points

^ I would happily lose to that guy. I played music at a local festival on Friday, and stayed all weekend for the partying and free food. My kids had a pretty good time despite it being really hot, and I discovered a local hurdy gurdy player who might want to put together some kind of music project with me. I'm currently really exhausted. I hope nobody comes into the office wanting to fight today, but I suspect that's not a reasonable hope.3 points

Finished my Dynahi this week, a big thanks to Kevin Gilmore making this project possible. Was a more or less ;-) troublefree build, thanks to this forum i get the needed information, thanks to all. I tried to build the Dynahi in a relative small case so the challenge was to shield the trafos, i used grain-oriented-steel bands around the trafos and top covers also made from grain-oriented-steel, added 70.- usd to the BOM but was well invested, no inducted noise at all :-). The amp is bias to 0.625 v so that the case can handle the heat. Sounds superb as the dynalo. I have a second headphone out on the back, i will use it together with the ifi iesl pro to drive my stax headphones (as my sony vfet via the iesl to drive the electrostats). https://www.head-fi.org/gallery/album/kevin-gilmore-dynahi.1154508/3 points

We love you and we miss you! Life for you on this rock was entirely too short. You are always in our thoughts Matt, and we truly hope that you are somewhere better!1 point

I was stuck in the can at maximum coverage, so only caught it on the wane, but I still caught it, and it was cool! I'm so glad my co-worker urged me to go outside and experience it for myself, it's entirely different than seeing a picture of it, even partial.1 point

We only got about 65% up here in the Northeast corner. Still was fun to watch dusk start, hear crickets start chirping, and then reverse course shortly thereafter.1 point

The last conversation I remember having with Matt was at MOA II. Matt was trying to tell me a gay joke but he kept giggling and had to start over more than once. That's a good memory! And just typing that made me tear up. I'm such a fag!1 point

Absolutely beautiful, Doug, though for $3,950 a pair I'd likely just go with floorstanders.1 point

Then my advice is that you look at Liebherr. Ours, a two door fridge and cooler has been working without a glitch for 18 years. It could use a new rubber seal on the top door, but it's doing fine. On that one, besides the good capacity, I like the multi-temperature feature. Think of champagne, white, rosé, red, beer...1 point

A noob will be sharing a horror story after that arc through by thermal compound and the story where it all began. So, my Carbon encountered a problem. Left channel isn't working correctly and so O+ and O- were measured st 552V across. Trying to turn offset didn't do anything and shortly afterward the R24 got burned brown and done. I replaced the R24 together with 10m90S and Dn2540. Fired up again, and "POP", well something popped...couldn't tell if it was an arc through or something Pop (later on with further investigation, it was an arc through at 10m90s by the usage of thermal compound which was Silver polyesters, even though it was listed as nonconductive, best is ceramic compound ). I do see the smoke and traces of it around the same area of 10m90S. Took off this 10m90S and measured again...it works, but I tossed it anyways. Replaced it again, and turned on....well...."BAM" a louder pop at R16 and R15 (20 seconds), upon closer inspection, it turned out it was R16 on the same wing of 10m90S. Took a little more to try and measure stuff on board. I suspected C2M1000 was probably gone, so replaced it and it really died. Then measured carefully and ....something else appeared to be dead. Moved on toward PZTA42 on that wing and Tada....the sucker has equal 0.63V drop across equally....well, something must have killed the PZTA42 ? Not sure, replaced them and now everything measures just fine...Now, what would kill the PZTA42 all of a sudden ? I went on and also found PZTA06 to be unresponsive ?....what could have killed PZTA06 ? Not too sure...could be linked to STN9360 ? And further PZTA56 ? I have checked and it seems fine....lsk389 is also healthy. So really, what was the reason ? Anyone have any idea ? Maybe the Balance was turned to Out of whack ? Anyone has any clues ? When trimmer was off, Balanced was measuring 1700-300 and offset was 0-99.0 completely one side. Further investigation also found C2m1k fried, replaced both. B+ had some arc through, and when I took it off....horror. Now, I understand why my second power on did pop R16 and R15....this Phoenix connector upon times of screwing in and out...somehow decided to arc from B+ into the trace to O- which in turned fried many others well, on the positive side, the PSU is healthy and kicking with +458 and -458 HV, LV is 14.97 and -14.96 It seems the best practice on these Phoenix is to have some layering between the clearances. As looking back into "insanity problems" this is similar. Luckily I did not damage any PSU stuff. Will fix this with a wire for trace and a good clearance for both connectors.1 point

We buried my father in law today. Very sad day. He was just shy of 90 years old. They found a small spot in his lung about two months ago. After radiation treatment, he deteriorated very quickly. Lots of good memories to keep with us.0 points
