AI generated mugshot made hours before.  It's a good example of what AI gets wrong.

Now two three(!) stars from Home Alone 2 have had their mugshot released.  Also this is grossly unfair to Mac.

There's been a lot of examples like this floating about.

This is unfair to 80s one hit wonders.  Also, I quite like that song.

I understand a lot of what you're saying, and agree with some of it. What I'll never understand is electing a man that we know will immediately set out to obliterate our democracy, and assign himself dictator? Even if he would abdicate power after 4 years (which he'd never do in a million years), he was a shitty President who did nothing but further line the pockets of himself and his cronies. Drain the swamp? The swamp engulfed everything. His stance on Covid was absolutely abysmal, and borderline criminal. This fucktard tried and tried and kept on trying to steal our right to a fair election and he belongs in prison!

That's my fucking rant!

Not to worry. I'm not a fan. But a lot of current policies aren't working.

30-50% higher prices are tough to handle, especially when retired.

I guess me and the cat will be splitting the cat food.

Apropos of nothing in the above discussion, Luis tries croissants in Paris while the city riots.  I have to imagine the smell of burning garbage tainted the enjoyment of that particular croissant.

You had me at your first sentence.  I have big issues with the two-party system when both of them are as extreme and broken as they are.  I mean, how bad is it when we STILL have to worry about Trump getting into the white house?

IMHO the "problem" is not the number of parties. The problem is that their delegates in the chambers and government work for their own agendas and lobbies, for their personal benefit, not for the people that put them there and is paying their wages and gifted lives. They're incapable of working together for a general common good, finding compromises and agreements to make things to work and to improve. They just don't care and what's worse, they play the game of making people enemies of each other by pulling emotional strings based on lies, stupidity, beliefs and whatever can be used to not let us think.

I have some very good discussions with my son about various political theories: Capitalism, Socialism, Communism, and variants....

Ultimately I argue all would fail, because people will be in power, and they will be corrupted in some way.  Theory is one thing, application into reality another.  What Antonio says encapsulates much of that belief.

It would almost be better to be in the Matrix....

But we are faced with the lesser of evils at this point, so I will do what I can to keep that lesser evil....

Good point (especially applicable to Spain... unfortunately) 😞

Has anyone read this? It is by a certain Maquiavelo written back in the 16th century....

Reminds me of the Larkin poem

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

I have my share of baggage from my parents' divorce, and my dad "kind of" being there but not 100%.  At one point, I had some good sit-downs with him, and I determined that he had his own limitations.

One VERY wise thing he said to me, though: "None of us are perfect, we all make mistakes.  You just won't make the same mistakes I made...."

Well said IMO.

Had a somewhat similar situation. My Dad was physically abusive, to my Brothers, myself and also to my Mother. Hearing and seeing my Mother getting beaten was much worse for me than my own beatings.

Their divorce after 20 years of marriage was a good thing, but still difficult. I'm an open book about my life, and talking about those times is therapeutic for me. However, it can be difficult. When you tell other people about the physical abuse, they can only see a monster. If it were that simple, just leaving would be a simple solution. But it's never that simple. My Father could also be a very fun, loving person. I'm in no way making excuses for the overboard abuse, but nothing is Black and White. I think my Dad did the best he could with the tools he had. His childhood was bad as well, in different ways, but pretty bad.

I think the best we can do is try to mimic the good traits and learn to avoid the bad ones. I've had self esteem issues most of my life, because of my Father. I over compensate for sure, but the older I get, I think the better handle I have on that.

I learned a lot of good things from my Father, and we had many, many good times. I choose to focus more on those.

In the end, we can only try to improve ourselves, as we're all flawed.

I know that my Father was proud of the man I became. And I also know that he was very happy that I did not inherit his violent streak.

At the end he was hardest on himself. I do need to say though that the main reason that I did not have children was for fear of copying his abusive ways. I used to wait for that guy to show up in me. Today I know that he just doesn't exist in me. Whether it's true or not, I've convinced myself that my homosexuality had a lot to do with my empathy for others.

Right now is not a good time for Mitch to leave. ATM he's providing some of the only sanity in the GOP. His void would most likely be filled by a much more MAGA inspired replacement.

I believe this is exactly the reason President Biden is running block for him.
