In an odd turn of events, Montgomery AL where I just drove my grandparents from ended up getting more snow than we did here in MA.

  • Same as every gay bar I've ever entered.

  • We lost power for about 12 hours which is nothing, all things considered, and we've got the generator/transfer-switch so it was really only out for 4 hours because I didn't feel like setting it all up

  • Side benefit of all the late snow, the ability to snowshoe with the kids.  Got andrew out for a little walk in the woods this afternoon.

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA's Terra satellite captured this true-color image on February 7, 2010, showing part of the region affected by heavy snowfall. Snow blankets the area hundreds of kilometers inland from the Atlantic coastline. Along the latitude of New York City, however, snow cover thins considerably. Credit: NASA

Snow twice in one winter in Atlanta? It must be a sign of the apocalypse.

LOL. It may be it. It has snowed thrice here in Madrid, something that hadn't happened since 1963 :palm: Is the planet really warming?

We've found proof in the glaciers up here that the temperature has fluctuated a lot in the last 1000 years so perhaps this could be normal. Things certainly took a turn for the worse up here after 1350 with temperatures plummeting and we are finally seeing the end of that mini "iceage" now.

It's snowing at the DanJam beach house!

Somebody told me that yesterday was the first day in recorded US weather history that snow was on the ground in all 50 states.

I'm just repeating what I heard. Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea usually have snow this time of the year. There is a small ski resort on Mauna Kea.

Edit: Posted first and read the Yahoo article afterwards. I see it talks about Mauna Kea.

Valdez, Alaska has the most annual snow in the USA, averaging 27 feet each winter. The record was set in 1989-90 with almost 44 feet.

I drove out into town today, the first time I've been out of my street in a week. 8 days to be precise. I don't think a 4 cylinder honda really counts as an SUV, but there's no way I'd have gotten out in a sedan. The streets have a tall cap of rock-hard snow thats been packed down, and I still can't tell if we were plowed at all or not. Cars on both sides of the roads and all sorts of rivets and uneven areas of the snow surface of the road made my car feel like the chassis was going to twist apart. It was worth it though, as I now have milk, cheese, eggs, etc......gonna get ready for more snow on Monday :palm::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant:

If this keeps up much longer I'm not above punching people.

They're forecasting 4-6 inches of snow here in Northern MA. Let's see if it actually snows that much this time around.

2-4" here north of Boston. Hopefully it turns out like the last time they predicted this much.

Well, the storm delivered this time. I just finished shoveling my driveway and there were good 5 inches there. Hopefully, it actually tapers off per forecasts.

It's still coming down (sort of) here in WMass, but all we've got for accumulation is 2 inches or less.

Just finished clearing off the driveway here near Boston, probably around 4" so far and still falling. Roads are a mess.
