Ipod Touch / Iphone

Going by the last few years, I'd say new iPod models will be announced/out in early September.

  • Crikey ... I go away for a while and all kinds of shit breaks loose.  Big and too big iPhones - even too big for Mikey's ass and Shelly's hands.  What the actual fuck is this world coming to?   Nice

not sure if this has been discussed already but anyone know tentatively when the 4th gen touch "might" come out? purchased a 3g 32gb one today but it would shut off on its own every 2 minutes so returned it. came home and read that 4g might be coming out soon. so wait or just get a replacement? dont really want to wait until black friday though =/ want to get jh13/16 around that time.

I believe there's a rumor it might be next week although Haj is correct that the normal cycle would be next month.

thanks to both.

i shall just wait a few more weeks...wonder if the new junk will cause the price of the older stuff to drop? never paid attention to the ipod market. /heads over to the wiki page/

wait it out, unless you need it now. the next gen is always sure to be better for the same price, if you decide to go 3rd gen then you save more money then buying now! the last rumor i heard was the iPhones Retina diplay with dual cameras and faster chip inside.

bleh, I think I MIGHT have bricked the 3gs updating it to 4.0. Hopefully it'll update on my parent's mac

I hope they include the touch in that update. Mine has not been the same since iOS 4

Did you manage to fix it, Jin?

The past history suggest that touch would be included. My touch was bad enough with iOS4 that I downgraded it back to 3.1.2.

I finally updated my 3gs to 4.0.2. It drains my battery faster. Dislike.

yes I did. somehow pcs never work when fixing iphones

faster than 3.1.3 or faster than 4.0/4.0.1

Haven't noticed any difference in the battery life with 4.0.2 on my iphone 4.

Was there anything on 4.0.2 that should be causing battery drain?

I went from ios3 to 4, so multi-tasking is prob the reason why my battery is draining faster.

No, the only difference was to fix the .pdf vulnerability and break current jailbreaks. On older (1st gen iPhone and iTouch) it only breaks the jailbreak and doesn't even fix the .pdf issue. Your best bet is to run 4.0.1 with jailbreak and the .pdf fix.

My iPhone 3G has been experiencing problems before I upgraded to the second to newest OS, which didn't really make a big difference either way. Prior I had wiped the phone and did a fresh install, but still it would operate a bit clunky. In a nutshell, most of the time it's very slow to sometimes completely non-responsive to my touch. I am somewhat indecisive about getting the new iPhone due to the antenna issue and rumors that possibly Verizon might get an iPhone, as I am not too keen to sign a two year contract with AT&T again, plus rumors about an iPhone 5 around the corner...

IMO multitasking on ios4 is pretty useless unless you jailbreak to make native backgrounding optional. without that, if you use a bunch of apps, your battery life dies pretty damn fast

I don't use a lot of apps, but the few that I do use are killing my battery!

Earlier today a co-worker was streaming some Netflix films on his iPhone 4 over 3G and it looks really pretty good.

Man, I so wish they would allow international access to that.

I am liking the image quality on Hulu Plus better than Netflix on the iPhone. I used 3G for both as the 4g speeds on my piece of crap Sprint Overdrive is still far slower than the iPhone's 3G.

I might give netflix another try. Last time I couldn't find shit I wanted to watch. Or maybe it's just me.
