November 18, 200916 yr comment_297537 Isn't the non-Lite one now owned by tkam? What I now want to see is the one that's gonna have all them 307's. Shouldn't we be calling tkam's The Menace Heavy (or The Heavy Menace)? Report

November 18, 200916 yr Author comment_297546 The Official Naming Convention of Menaces (Menacie?) The original will always be simply "The Menace". (approx 50lbs) The most recent incarnation is "The MenaceTC Lite". (approx 30lbs) The forthcoming stupidly expensive 307A-based nonsense is tentatively called "Colossus". Since the topology is so different I decided a while back to give it an entirely different name. I'm not sold on the current one, but until something better comes around it is what it is. Someone could, if so inclined, build a MenaceTC that would bear a strong similarity to the original and would be even heavier but that amp would look significantly different than the 307A amp. I also won't be able to share the schematic I'm using for the 307A amp further separating it from the original Menace concept. As for what it takes to be called Colossus, well here's the current pile o' parts. Report

November 18, 200916 yr comment_297583 Just for fun, see if you can fit an 0C3 glowtube on your latest creation. It doesn't need to do anything for the circuit other than give off a nice purple glow to let you know the high voltage supply is working. Report
November 18, 200916 yr comment_297591 ^ I was trying to remember that name the other day -- thanks! EDIT: Also: Leviathan. That is one bad-ass pile of parts! Sorry to continue the name game, but given the comment highlighted above, I have to suggest Pic didn't show up. Which is ironic, as "" was the name I thought you were suggesting, which wasn't too far off, ackshully. (To others -- it was "the Phantom Menace" movie poster.) November 19, 200916 yr comment_297679 Goliath should be in the name shortlist. Juggernaut and Colossus are also awesome. Vulcan and Cratos have the suitable mythological overtones too. I look forward to seeing the completion of this electrical tower of babel. Report
November 19, 200916 yr comment_297682 I find it amusing that most of the names mentioned are also names used for Marvel Universe characters, and the exceptions, Leviathan and Cratos, have been used in video games. Report
November 19, 200916 yr comment_297688 Yes, 2 of them I figured as much, considering the box and that I would imagine you would have more than one channel of output:p Report

November 19, 200916 yr comment_297945 id like to put in a vote for thanatos. or xanatos. both are names for the same god but xanatos just sounds cooler. thanatos seems nicer given what it stands for. Report
November 19, 200916 yr Author comment_297981 i'd go for an ironic name, like "Little Miss Prissy Pants." or it could be anodized pink and named "Yay Ponies!" It wasn't really my intention to invite name suggestions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JchKa8Ox3Hs Perhaps I will call it Clyde Frog. Report
November 19, 200916 yr comment_298043 Just calling it Clyde would be pretty mint. Or the Tubey Mammoth. Report
