I need to build a new set of steps from the attached garage to the house. I always like the ones a friend of mine has, and went out and bought the materials for them. These are what I would call box steps, but I haven't had any luck on finding plans for something like this online. I was planning on doing these with 2x8 framing on 12" centers and 3/4" plywood. Bottom section would be 5' x 31" and top 36" x 18".I attached a pic of the ones at my friend's house. I'm not sure how the overhang is done on these. Is it just the plywood, or something else? Any suggestions welcome.

Many of you are not as ancient as I, and may only know this as it is tagged onto movie titles, but one of the greatest comedic influences of the last 40 years is soon to be available again: I read these while in High School, and they helped make me the sick degenerate (but funny) bastard that I am. If you want to see the fetid little pool that things like Animal House, Saturday Night Live and countless others spawned in, check it out. Or not. I will be.

I think people here at Head-Case should know that Twisted Pear Audio is raising funds to support Doctors Without Borders relief efforts in Haiti after the earthquake. There is a prize, to be precise a complete Buffalo II kit! http://www.twistedpearaudio.com/news.aspx Best regards, Jose Luis

Since using Windows 7 ... about two years now, I've been mostly happy (I've been on the same original install since Jan of 2011, when I built my current 2700K music/gaming machine and things are clicking along fine thus far). But one process I've always wanted to streamline was the switching among various audio devices (since Windows 7, and I think that trash heap that was Vista, introduced a more granular approach to audio channel management, which, in the long run is a good thing but it also brings with it some tedium). Typically, one must right click the default Windows 7 speaker icon in the task bar, then select "playback devices" and then select whatever pl…

Bowie would have been 71 today and in two days it'll be the annie of his death. Just noticed that Rick Wakeman played keys on Hunky Dory (Changes, Life on Mars etc). Still seems impossible that he won't surprise us with revelation again!

That there is a rule in the other forum that linking to or mentioning of head-case is not allowed. I actually just mentioned head-case as we were talking about what (mbd) Ruckus posted here recently. Though the mod was polite enough to tell me that he edited/deleted some of my posts Anyway, I know most of you guys already know about that rule, but I was really surprised that such a rule exists and is being implemented very strictly. I actually searched the other site for posts using the term head-case and, most of the results were links to the smilies used in this forum, I guess those are allowed

Instead of keeping the Flip Ultra after finding out it doesnt take external memory or take pics, I decided to get a cheap point and shoot instead. I'm looking for one under $150 but hopefully closer to $100. I've been looking on Budget Camera Group Test (Q4 2008) Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review and it seems that the Panasonic Lumix LZ8 is a good one. If anyone else has any other recommendations, I'm open to anything.

Let me know what you thing: http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=135050 For those that can't sign in: << "white glove" delivery, coast to coast... After reading through the horror stories in this section, thought I'd pass along a little tip I've learned from dealing with UPS for 30+ years. Would you pay an extra $26.95 above the base shipping fee to ensure your precious doesn't travel in the back of the big brown truck? To ensure that when the truck reached the package depot that the dock apes never got near your precious, but that the driver personally handed it to a center manager, who would then place it under lock & key until he persona…

Hey Everyone, I just wanted to thank this community. Head-case has been an incredible wealth of knowledge for me, having guided my foray into high fidelity audio. I joined Head-case in 2008, soon after discovering that head-fi was overwhelming and nearly impossible to garner useful information from. I then spent the next couple of years lurking and reading, eventually leading to several (blind, but somewhat informed) purchases. I've been enjoying music through the same set-up for the past 4 years or so. I haven't been here in a while, but I decided that it was about time to offer my gratitude to the community that built my headphone system - quite literally, as my hea…

I just noticed this. As I am a keyboard shortcut kinda guy, I always take full advantage of the "alt + S" to submit a post. In FF2, however, this is now the shortcut for the History menu. Is it just me that this is going to affect? Let us rise up, and make FF2 fix the woeful problem, so I don't have to use my bloody mouse... or use another 2 key combination such as "Tab/Space or Tab/Enter"... tis just not the same. **BRENT**

Five of the most awesome car stunts - ever! Vid #5 - If you have the patience to sit through it, drifting through the streets of San Francisco Ken Block flies his Ford Focus through the air sideways through a curve, lands it and continues on like he never left the ground. I accidentally ran into this while surfing websites for threaded rods to build my flexy: The H.P. Friedrichs (AC7ZL) Homepage Look at the photo galleries linked at the bottom of that site, some very interesting-looking material there (not necessarily hi-fi, but nonetheless intriguing!). I might look into this sometime in the near-future.
