Have a great Easter everyone! Personally I haven't found anything left by the Easter Bunny yet, but I'm sure I'm just not looking hard enough.

I doubt he'll see this, but back in the early headphone days, especially in the Bay Area, Whitney was a regular. I know plenty remember him from those early meets. Great guy and always incredible music suggestions. After peeling off, he reshowed in my world from this Stanford Medicine article - The Puzzle Solver. With today's HC birthday reminder I looked up his web site and see he's posted a few recent videos to his YouTube channel. He has had a very tough time with severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, also called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS). Saying happy birthday Whitney, but also bringing those who were not aware up-to-date. https://www.whitneydafoe.…

  5. I sort of just finished it. Got tired of my old one and got really tired of all the scrolling so started working on a new one. What do you think? Is it better than the previous one? I'm still going to work on it to personalize it a little more as it's a little stiff for me but it's nice to hear some opinions on the usage / interface and the like. Maybe even ideas on things that might be missing.... Thanx in advance www.contrastique.com

I used to love visual brain teaser like puzzles when I was a teen and want to pick up a few however I can't seem to find a good resource that separates the wheat from the chaff. Are any of you into puzzles? Can you recommend some of your favorites?

  8. Started by screaming oranges,

This will sound damn cheesy, but I love this country. Those of you who know my story of why/how I came to the States will understand my sentiments a bit better. My life would have been much different had I not come here. Happy 4th, everyone!

  9. Started by cetoole,

I am flying down to Montgomery, AL tomorrow to drive my grandparents up to Boston (well technically, Reading) MA, and will be staying there for a few days before heading home. The main point of this trip is to get my grandparents to my Uncle and new Aunt's house, and to see my new (about two week old) cousin, but there will definitely be some time to see other things in the area. Only been to Boston once before for a few days, so any suggestions are appreciated.

  10. Started by audiosceptic,

Stealing my thread title from Bob Dylan it seems I have had some recent bad luck purchasing audio stuff over the Internet. I detailed the broken Quad ESL63's I dealt with in the Quad thread. In addition I have had: - Broken new Welborne Labs power supply for my Duet. Sent back and waiting for new one. - Broken new VPI 16.5 record cleaner. I had to open it up and tighten a allen screw to get the platter to turn. - Broken new Seta Nano phono preamp where the left RCA channel cuts out (I use XLR). Vendor is sending me the new model in December because they are aware of a manufacturing defect. - Broken new BA where the volume control was bad. Sent back to Craig and he f…

Some people here seem to think I was a member here before and I am here to tell you that aint so. I signed up for Head-Case along time ago and forgot my password and gave up on it. I then spent a lot of time at head-Fi until I received an E-mail touting the revamped site and decided to come and check it out. I had to have a new password E-mailed to me and here I am. If some of you think otherwise then I just don't know what to tell you. My name is not hard headcase and I am not banned over at head-Fi. So anyway, I was thinking of buying an RSA B-52 and using my Pico as a Dac fot the B-52, how cool would that be? Just think of the expansive soundstage and airy smoot…

I am in need of some hotel assistance with the Chicago area HC crew. My daughter and three of her classmates from Notre Dame plan to spend the Thursday through Saturday of Easter break visiting and sight seeing around Chicago. None of the girls are from the area so they have no clue where to stay that is centrally located to fun activities and reasonably priced. I was thinking somewhere along the Magnificent Mile, Whacker, Loop, Michigan avenue area. Am I searching in the right area or can you suggest something better? None of the girls drink so proximity to bars is a negative, fun restaurants and fun activities are. If you can recommend areas we should focus on when…

  20. The 220v - 110v step down transformers your tax dollars bought me have an audible 50Hz hum coming from the transformer and it’s driving me crazy. I’d like to source an alternative low-wattage (under 200) unit that will be dead silent for my listening room, but I’d like to know for sure it’s silent before I ship it all the way to Moldova and plug it in. Any d-_-b recommendations?

  21. First, I want to say many humble thanks for all of your support in the past. Our non-profit, Communities of Belonging, are so happy to be having our 4th annual Walk for Belonging as a part of the national Second Chance Month. April 26, 2025, Green Lake, Seattle... As with many non-profits, we are always struggling with funds to keep things running. And sad to say that our mission is under direct attack. Grants that have helped us in the past have been cut or eliminated. Our message of "We Believe in a World where Everyone Belongs" is not supported under the current administration. We have an opportunity to open another house, and are actively w…

  23. Its now winter break for me and I have keys to the ceramics studio and am trying to think of some stuff to do. I was reading that RSA amp thread and noticed that ray was using a ceramic headphone stand and thought some people here might like for me to make them one. I wouldn't charge anything but shipping as they would be pretty cheap to make. This would be for established head-casers in the US only. Sorry to leave you canadians and europeans out in the cold but ceramics are heavy and shipping would be probably more than it's worth.
