  3. I'm taking Zoe and her friend to the Panic! At The Disco/Weezer concert (while I am attending the Weezer/PATD concert). I want to get some earplugs for everyone. I can handle the Ety ones, but not sure if they could. Are there any good "musician" or "concert" ear plugs you guys recommend? Are the ER-20s still worth getting, or would I want something better? (Zoe and her friend won't use them much, but I could use them at band rehearsal/other concerts, so I could go with something a little more long term.) Oh, and referably something I can get locally or through Amazon, so I can have them here before Thursday's show. Thanks. **BRENT**

  7. I posted this thread over at head-fi, and not one other person has posted their bike. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=177139. WTF are you telling me that Head-Fiers truly are a bunch of geeks that have no interest in riding motorcycles and going fast? Look at the last photo. Can anyone else show proof that they have gone faster on two wheels or even four wheels? FYI speedometers are wildly inaccurate; usually they are 15% to 30% optimistic at high speeds. I?ve owned motorcycles that I rode and the speedometers indicated that I was going 140 mph. When in reality the bikes top speed under perfect conditions was around 120 mph (118 according to te…

This one will go down in the record books definitely. It is most certainly the most intense tropical cyclone in terms of wind speed EVER recorded due to its estimated 200 MPH SUSTAINED winds. It made landfall in the central portion of the Philippines as it was intensifying to this horrific intensity. That makes this a shoe in for the most intense landfalling tropical cyclone in recorded history. The storm surge because of this and due to topography will be unreal. There have been a few cyclones in the Pacific resembling Haiyan before, but I do no think anything has made landfall ever like this. The news will be horrific, unfortunately. Happy 21st birthday to my daughter Zoë! I know I've known a lot of you since she was around 2-3 years old, and somehow she made it through to adulthood. Here she is at her birthday dinner with her future MIL, having her first legal drink! (And one of the very few she's ever had.) I'm really proud of her, and she had a good day. Her past two birthdays have been bad (tested positive for COVID in 2021 during her fall break an hour before she was leaving for the airport to fly home, and her now fiancee (Michael, above) had just driven home to CO, so she wound up in AZ all alone on her first birthday away from home. Today? Today started a new …

Alex Chilton died yesterday at age 59 from an apparent heart attack. That's fucked up. I've been meaning to post this sad news ever since my wife called to tell me she heard it on the radio while she was driving to work. Great and influential musician. Also been meaning to play some Big Star and shit but I have been too busy to do anything fun today. Will have to toast him later, but for now here are the lyrics to The Replacements' Alex Chilton: If he was from Venus, would he feed us with a spoon? If he was from Mars, wouldn't that be cool? Standing right on campus, would he stamp us in a file? Hangin' down in Memphis all the while. Children by the million s…

On Friday I had the fun experience of the "traditional" approach to making a (replacement) dental crown (multiple impressions, making + fitting of temporary crown etc) . And this was just the first visit. I still have the second visit to look forward to for the removal of the temporary crown and the fitting of the permanent crown. On discussing this with our FD at work, she mentioned that her dentist had used a CNC milling machine to make a crown, and fitted in in the same visit. No temporary crown required. She seems happy, and the cost was not dissimilar to the traditional approach. I found some blurb on the web here Dental Crown and Bridges from Harbour Landing D…

Good Morning Head Case! Figured I'd tap into the collective experience of all you fine people to see if anyone has any thoughts on this. Melody and I are considering selling our 2 bedroom/1 bathroom 1200 sq. ft. house and purchasing a 2 bedroom/2.5 bathroom 2500 sq. ft. townhouse. Here are the facts: -My parents are currently living in this townhouse, and are looking to move, so I'd be buying it from them. I have no idea how much they'd sell it for, we haven't gotten that far, but I know we'd be able to get it for well under market, which is really why we are even considering it. Added bonus is buying from my Dad will be easy. -It's in a great part of …

Well, the wife came to me this morning and tells me she wants to start an online business. Needless to say I know next to nothing about getting started, whats' involved and most importantly how much money this is gonna cost me to put together for her. Wonder if anyone here has experience with such a thing and can give me any advice?

It looks like the internet infrastructure is starting to buckle under the strain of increased usage. YouTube is setting standard definition as the default resolution next month and Sony is slowing down PlayStation downloads in Europe. I'm not going to feel too smug about amassing a library of CDs and Blu-rays, just a little. What are you guys doing to adjust to staying at home? I plan on getting a lot more reading and writing done. Unfortunately, the gyms have been shut down so I'll have to stick to running, bicycling, etc. to get my exercise.

I just got spam email from CEntrance. They referred to HF to help sell their product. The only place I can think of where they could have gotten my email addy is HF. Has anybody else received this spam? I guess it's time to delete my account on HF.
