Headphones

Hi, I'm new to this forum and would like some advice on getting a pair of budget headphones for a recording studio. I would like to use them for recording vocals mainly and it's important that the headphones are able to prevent a lot of sound leaking into the microphone. Ideally I would like the headphones to have a replaceable lead and be comfortable and pretty decent sounding. My budget is £50 max. I have done a reasonable amount of searching online over the past few days and have narrowed my choices down to Monoprice 8323 - £15 Superlux HD669 - £24 Superlux HD661 - £24 Superlux HD631 DJ - £36 Which of these prevents sound leakage most effectively…

I use the Stax setup at home. Here are the phones list Sony R10 (Hard to find), Sr-4070, ZMF Verite, Focal Stellia Any suggestion so far?

I received my MS2i's on Saturday and got some flats today. I really like these cans. My first Grado's, I had shied away from them not for any specific reason but just because my interests were elsewhere. Boy, was that a mistake. I've listened to Grado's at meets, but at home in my own rig is the only way to go. Listening with the bowls for the last week, I was enjoying them, but they've tended to sound bright on a lot of things. But other things just clicked so well. The California Guitar Trio cd's were astounding with the bowls. So musically engaging it's hard to describe. Now, with the flats these things have become bass and midrange monsters. And I like that too.…

I never really was into the wireless Dolby headphones thing. However I find myself wanting something like that for late-night TV watching. (and apparently on the rare occasion that I do follow a series, my program choices are 'so gay'.) What's worth buying these days?

I came into some money recently and I'm considering the purchase of a pair of RS1's. My currently favorite headphone is the MS2i. I live in a town where I can't audition them with out traveling around an hour and a half which I don't want to do. In your opinion do you think I'll benefit from this upgrade?

I sold my HD650s a little while ago and now I kind of regret it. I'm thinking of picking up another pair of 650s or 6XXs, but there are rumors that the newer ones that are assembled in Romania are somewhat different than the made-in-Ireland sets. i want to know if the 20 step up is worth it i cant get a clear sense with just stats. please help me out, buying my first pair of headphones, i tried my dads old SR-60s (idk if its the same as the "i") (i if it applies) i listen to mostly jam and live music (audience recordings, or soundboard) but i like techno (bass) and good mids do these work out, or better low cost choice?

So even though i wanted to get RS-1's, I didn't really want to get rid of my HF-1's. I came across some Darth Beyers today, and couldn't resist. They'll be my priciest cans to date... Sometimes, hobbies can be dangerous. To get the goahead for the purchase, I had to promise to not complain about the amount my fiancee spends when we go clothes shopping this week. Just bought these on HF. Wondering if anyone has any experience with these. They are the darker wood (obviously) and have no serial #. Also, these look to be pretty glossy..think they were refinished or something?

I just received a set of HD650s. "Wow" is all I can say. That being said, I don't think I've read anything positive about the cables on these things, so the idea that the sound could get even better has me salivating. What do you guys consider the best balanced replacement cable for these?

hi, i'm kind of an amateur at this, though i have been lurking for quite some time. i'm looking for closed cans that i can use in public places. up until now i've used iem's, but they get uncomfortable and my ears get all stuffed up wearing them for long periods of time. so i'm thinking closed are the way to go with me. another thing i'm looking for is a warm, non-fatiguing sound! i have ety er-6i, and koss ksc-75, and while i appreciate the detail and neutrality they give, they are both somewhat fatiguing. so i'm looking for phones that i can wear for a long period of time without getting fatigued...and i'm thinking a warm sound would be good for that. yester…

It appears the new FOTM has been selected over there; I know slwiser likes them and a few reviews say they are close to the Edition 9s. I know HC hates Ultrasones, but is the Edition 9 just plain terrible, or is it acceptable at the HFI-780 price tag?

A pair of HE60 was given to me by a Thai friend. The phones must have been in storage for a long time as the vinyl on the ear pads come flaky off. So, I have to disassemble and clean the interior. Taking this opportunity, I take a few pictures. The diaphragm to stator distance is around 0.5 mm. There is nothing special on the stator surface. Wachara C.

As a group of veteran audiophiles who have repeatedly espoused the sentiment that "end-game is the point of the game", I'm curious what that actually looks like. What air vibrators consistently end up strapped to your noggin? Or have you all abandoned headphones in favor of speakers and whiskey?

So I'm pretty close to graduation and I haven't really bought myself anything nice since February. I was initially going to get a very nice watch, but the last few weeks I've really been considering the L3000. It doesn't help that I didn't like them at the last Boston meet, but I'd like to give them another shot. Basically I'd like a more bassy, fun alternative to my two main headphones. I see the K1000s deficiency with rock music now that I have the HP-2. The HP-2 doesn't exaggerate bass, so it's great for those pristine recordings, but not so great for the poorly done stuff (where basslines/dynamics are buried). Dear Headphone audiophiles, I want to buy the best headphones for listening to metal music. I recently purchased sE electronics The EGG speakers with amplifier and have concluded that they have way too much bass. I was disappointed when I placed a AKG K240 headphone in my Focusrite Forte usb soundcard and heard tons of details in my favorite records that I had not previously heard. I love hearing all the tiny details the artists intended us to hear. From what I have researched, any speakers/headphones that are fantastic for classical music will likely be great for metal as well (clear highs, good mids, little bass). So in trying something new, HeadAmp is now offering the Spirit Torino headphones from Italy. These are my 3 favorite models...I'll have to do a lot more listening to see which is definitely the favorite, but all of these shine in their own way. The Radiante is a closed back and may be the most interesting of the bunch. Anyone going to be at the DC meet next weekend? I might also look at doing a loaner program for these. Very few people have heard them yet
