Suggestions

I noticed the "recent posts" part at the bottom of the page got a lot smaller today after the upgrades. I reset my theme back to Ig-Oh (or default) which is what I normally use and the recent posts bar is much smaller than it used to be. I can't find a setting to make it so it shows more posts. Just wondering if there was a way to fix this since I frequently read posts by clicking on them in that part. I believe it showed at least 10 posts before this. Thanks

Is there any way we can keep the Search, User , Permission and Article boxes to the right with the Recent, Stats and Shoutbox? On my laptop, and especially on my smartphone, having the actual topics narrowed so much by having features on both sides has made browsing more difficult. It's much easier, for me at least, if the forum topics and actual threads stay left-justified so I don't have to scroll over for everything. Thoughts? Anyone else having an issue with the new layout?

Anyone else having issues with the site being slow and/or unresponsive? I started noticing it last week - didn't think anything of it at the time but it has been persistently slow and unresponsive since then. I'd click to go to a forum and it just hangs there or go to a blank screen and hangs there. Sometime, it eventually gets to the forum I clicked on, other times, I need to refresh/close tab/etc. before it works. I haven't noticed inordinate slow down or unresponsiveness on other sites and, FWIW, my internet speed hasn't gone down (at least according to speediest.net).

Is there any way to setup the forum profiles to show user's equipment? I like the ability to check out other user's gear inventory when reading their reviews and opinions, if it were possible it would be nice to incorporate that into the forum.

Hey everyone, I've been planning to add a number of features like a portal integration and also an integrated photo gallery for awhile now. One of the reasons why I've been hesitant to do this is that I know many of the members like the current ability to use any of the installed themes and switch between them on their own. To add the portal and gallery features the ability to choose your own theme would have to go away. Everyone would be forced to use the same theme. Are these features something that you would be interested in? Or would you rather have the option to choose which theme you use? Unfortunately there really isn't any middle ground, so its either new featu…

I wouldn't mind a name change myself to Eric5676. Is this something that can be done without reinventing the wheel? Is it something that could be added to people's profiles so they could do it themselves or is all that more trouble than it's worth? Just an idea. No biggie.

Yesterday, I finally decided to get Tapatalk working on my phone. To do that, I needed a new password as I hadn't had to use mine for so long that I had forgotten it. I logged out, used "forget my password" and logged back in (on my PC). I also logged in on my phone using Tapatalk. Now If I'm idle for a short period of time on the PC, where I do most of my HC browsing, it logs me off. This is a royal PITA. Can anybody tell me what I did that I get logged off and how to revert back to "remember me" state on the PC? I do have the "Remember Me" box checked when I log in and it doesn't seem to help. Thanks.

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I'm still puzzled by the Search function since the forum upgrade. For example, I search "the descent" in "Search Single Content Type". I get the search results by post, except there's no post preview like in the old interface (I really miss this option). Then, no matter which post I click on, it always brings me to the last page of the thread. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I'm not sure if anybody else would want this but I for one really would like to too see it. It's so disheartening to see something you want in the first post only to find out it was sold 11 posts down. If this forum software will allow it, please make it happen. so I can go from TO

Notice that there is "Lock/Unlock" button at the bottom of threads you start? (for the non-mods out there). Also, removeal of a thread is possible too. Is this a good idea? Never seen this option for general members in a forum before. -Ed

Added a small feature today, now if you click on a username in a post there's a new option in the drop-down menu that lets you PM the user quoting the post in question. Screenshot attached

I can't send PMs to multiple people since the line that says "other participants" is missing when I try to compose mail. This is in Firefox 3.6.16. Anyone else have this issue?

Ok so we can now add custom fields in user profiles. I'm thinking we'll do a few standard ones for people to put their gear in but I'm open to suggestion on some other fields we could add. I added one already "Headphones & Speakers" you can see @ profile -> forum profile information

Got an interesting issue here. When I navigate to the head-case.org front page my browser (chorme) always thinks that I am logged out. I can't get to my PM's from the front page without logging back in. What is strange is that even I show up as logged out on the front page, once I drill down to a specific thread or sub-forum I show up as logged in. I've tried clearing cookies and it doesn't seem to solve the issue. I also meant to put this in the existing "Keep getting logged out of HC" thread but I can't post a reply there. Do I need elevated privileges to respond to threads in the "Suggestions" sub-forum? Thanks!

It looks like a recent change is to have sliders for large items such as pictures. Not only is it unnecessary, it usually is in the way. If there is a group of pictures, one has to scroll down (using the browser vertical slider) to the horizontal slider, reposition the page using the horizontal slider and then scroll back up to the picture. All browsers support horizontal scrolling and do it better and easier than display software. Can we remove the sliders in VB and let the browsers handle it?

I searched the forums and did not find any posts highlighting this issue. When I am logged in and attempt to view a users profile I am redirected to an error page displaying "[#10245] You are not permitted to view member profiles." Also when I hover over a username I am presented with a "View Profile" hint. When I logout of Head-Case I can view the users profile without error. In addition when I hover over the users name I see a popup containing a summary of the users data. It certainly appears to be just the opposite behavior you would prefer for us mere "newbie" members.

is there a preference for turning off email notification of new pm's? if so, i guess i'm dumb and i can't find it. if not, can y'all add it? mjb

I was trying to search for posts containing "m^3" and all I got was posts with the letter m and the number 3. I tried it with quotes but didnt help Suggestions?

Where did the unread posts function go?

I have gotten several of these in the last 24 hours. Has anybody else been getting them? Todd, do you have something to tell me?

Am I the only one getting kicked out regularly? It used to keep me logged in for weeks at a time. Only if cookies were reset or the like, I'd have to log back. Also, the layout changed to the default (as if it had crashed). If I change, it will default again. This became noticeable since the last week or 1.5 week or so... And more often than not, the "show unread posts" resets to show no new posts. Confusing. It So what I am saying is I am very displeased and want all my money back, dammit! ;_P
