Regarding this past weekend and my recent absences from this forum- BS in Neuroscience, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kapa, these past four years have just flown by. This pretty much says it all.16 points

I love that we're comfortable enough to call ourselves hipsters and douches. At least we enjoy the spoils of the word war....2 points

This is how Guinness used to do it up to 60-odd years ago. The only machine task was trimming the length of the staves first. At the time, Guinness employed 200 coopers (who served an apprenticeship of 7 years) maintaining the stock of 250,000 barrels.2 points

Made an offer on a house. First viewing four hours after listing and we have been informed by the owners that they have 8 showings scheduled tomorrow and Sunday and will make a decision then. I don't know why I even bother dealing with the real estate market, it's never been kind to me.2 points

Speaking of Douches and their douchery, I could barely control myself while at dinner in South Bend last weekend as a young gold cufflink encrusted douch-in-training asked the super hot server to let him taste the $20 rose to make sure it was acceptable. He sniffed it, swirled it, then deemed it unquaffable and sent it back. I could barely hold my pate' down as I listened to him lecture his family and friends on his view of the current oil futures arbitrage opportunities he was evaluating. Ah life can be so mysterious at times.2 points

Congrats, Emily. Greg, you must be so proud. I'd be happy to drop by your house so we can toast Emily and her accomplishments! I think that a birth year wine would be appropriate.1 point

Another SS Dynalo lives. 20 VDC rails 255 235 ohm bias resistors. (see EDIT) Running single ended input and balanced output which, using the same Buffalo II/Ivy DAC, does give up something to running fully balanced. EDIT: With 255 ohm bias resistor on 20 VDC rails, the temperature on the output devices reached 95C after 90 minutes running with the chassis cover on. At that temperature the MPSWx6 max dissipation is derated to about 440mW. Even though they may be still running at the edge of their operating range, the amp sounded lean and harsh. Had to lower the bias resistor to 235 ohm which, upon fully warmed up, yields about 14mA current and the BJT case temperature is at a more reasonable 75C.1 point

Yep, that’s right. Tried to be smart. Set the cut depth to shallow at first. Ordered the machine to clean up a small area…. and at the same time it cut the trace near that pad. Learning by doing...1 point

Hawaii, north of vegas, something like that. had enough of illinois budget woes, as in not plowing the streets in the winter more than every other day. The trick is making a 24 bit dac that actually meets the specs that some people out there quote. The rest is pretty easy. And the data i/o is heading to the recycler today. found a fool to take the metler as an antique show piece.1 point
