Well done jose. I was going to post these images in the builds thread but it’s missing in action. Thanks to Kevin and Birgir for being awesome. Thanks to Michael (mw168) for all the work you’ve put in with the group buys and documenting etc it’s been very helpful. A couple KGSSHV Carbon amps running 400V @ 20ma, GRLV supplies, SUMR transformers.8 points

That looks awesome. On our end yesterday, mistakes were made. This is the kitchen sink torta at a little tacqueria / tortaria that had the hottest table salsa I have ever had. We should have taken Kliban's advice:4 points

Regarding this past weekend and my recent absences from this forum- BS in Neuroscience, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kapa, these past four years have just flown by. This pretty much says it all.2 points

Aren't too many thing worse than a bad torta! There's a Salvadorian place in San Jose that serves great stuff except for their Mexico City style tortas. Lots of fried baloney and that's the good part. Talk about disappointing!1 point

Wonderful little underground concert tonight. Went to see Bent Knee CD release party (they're from Boston, but got signed to Cuneiform, a DC prog label), got introduced to a couple of indie bands I now like. But back to Bent Knee -- oh, my were they fantastic. Proggy. Very proggy. So much proggy. Wow proggy. Harsh transitions, they'll be playing one thing at one moment, then take a hard 90 degree turn and be playing something entirely orthogonal the next. Lots of spacey, lots of pastoral, lots of rock, all shaken and stirred into a glorious cocktail of music. I think I might have to go up to upper Baltimore tomorrow night to see them again. They were that good. And a cover (I am sitting here giggling over how great this music is): And also I need to figure out if the bassist really dug me. (She introduced herself to me.) I definitely dug her. Or perhaps she was just high, check her out, playing this shit seriously. And the lead singer has this weird little vibrato to her voice that I kinda really dig1 point

Thanks guys! John's and Kerry's builds put mine to shame. But putting an amp in a real chassis once in a while does give one a sense of accomplishment Similar experience here. I have a new found respect for my HD650 after listening to it through the SS Dynalo. I built this one for a friend to drive his HD650. After listening to the combination, he told me he is now saving to buy a HD800 to make the best use of the amp.1 point

Yes. I used my mill for this. My version 2 mill is fairly solid and as long as watch the speeds and feeds, I can mill 1/2" plate no problem.1 point

Congrats, Emily. Greg, you must be so proud. I'd be happy to drop by your house so we can toast Emily and her accomplishments! I think that a birth year wine would be appropriate.1 point

I think driving with headphones is illegal but yeah, I could cram an amp in there. There is no official reseller for Tesla here and the guy selling them is the scum of the earth so I' d buy directly from the factory. The view from the porch is pretty boring but there are some nice spots around the house. I'm about 200m from the see so far enough away...1 point

Amazing work Emily! I'm sure you will be able to find a suitable bottle of champagne.1 point

That is just awesome, many congrats! I have to say, when we have been on our college tours, we have seen a large amount of incredible bright young women getting some big degrees like this. Really great to see!1 point

This is how Guinness used to do it up to 60-odd years ago. The only machine task was trimming the length of the staves first. At the time, Guinness employed 200 coopers (who served an apprenticeship of 7 years) maintaining the stock of 250,000 barrels.1 point

Another SS Dynalo lives. 20 VDC rails 255 235 ohm bias resistors. (see EDIT) Running single ended input and balanced output which, using the same Buffalo II/Ivy DAC, does give up something to running fully balanced. EDIT: With 255 ohm bias resistor on 20 VDC rails, the temperature on the output devices reached 95C after 90 minutes running with the chassis cover on. At that temperature the MPSWx6 max dissipation is derated to about 440mW. Even though they may be still running at the edge of their operating range, the amp sounded lean and harsh. Had to lower the bias resistor to 235 ohm which, upon fully warmed up, yields about 14mA current and the BJT case temperature is at a more reasonable 75C.1 point

Made an offer on a house. First viewing four hours after listing and we have been informed by the owners that they have 8 showings scheduled tomorrow and Sunday and will make a decision then. I don't know why I even bother dealing with the real estate market, it's never been kind to me.1 point
