Good luck Suzy. Dr. Jodi says it’s pretty common and she should do well.5 points

Just finished watching the women's finals with the Italian fencers Arianna Errigo, Valentina De Costanzo and the Russian Inna Deriglazova. I can't wait for the numerous responses from my fellow HCers. Waiting for Race Imboden to fence tomorrow. Lance has met with Race at both the Anaheim Grand Prix and the US Nationals. A really nice and personable guy. We wish him well.3 points

They are making me a pretty tempting offer on the 2017 Tiger 1200. Triumph is throwing in the full hard case set, a $1400 value and low interest and no payments until April if I take one of the 2017s instead of waiting for the 2018. Thinking this one might end up in my garage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

so pars posted this. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/group-buys/315474-pure-tube-es9038pro-9028-9018-akm.html#post5259820 all sorts of wrong. lets start with the fact that current output D/A converters really like driving a zero impedance. 27 ohms is not a zero impedance. So with +/-1.2ma you get +/-32mv and then you use the tube to amplify the crap out of it. Nope, definitely not the way to do this. All sorts of noise etc... a while back there was bakoon and audio-gd pointing fingers at each other as to who designed satri and when. so here is the satri version 4 circuit satriic.PDF and here is how audio-gd turns it into both the I/v converter and acss current output and voltage output (one at a time, not both) audiogdiv2.PDF performs better than anything else I have seen ideas in progress as work on the ultimate dsd/r2r dac2 points

Yeah, I like this Dr. and I'm sure she's going to be just fine. I'm just so happy that it's not something that can't be fixed! Thanks for all the well wishes guys! And Naaman, tell Jodi thanks, it makes me feel better hearing that from another Dr.!2 points

For the first time in ...for-fucking-ever, I'm actually taking some photos, editing them and posting them online. Wrangling Flickr for the first time in years is an amusing and frustrating experience. I've hated the "new" UI for years now, and I find accomplishing fairly basic tasks with it to be a right royal PITA. Several of the large groups where I was a member have disappeared completely (RIP the hugely active Macintosh group). I barely remember how to embed images via Flickr at this point. IMG_1505 Edit 2 Infrared photo I took 5 years ago almost to the day, with my IR-modified 5D and my 35mm F/2. The 35 has a broke AF motor, but that has never stopped me from using it. I spent ages converting this image to black & white with a high contrast blue filter and then duotoning it in Photoshop. IMG_1852 Ancient historical of a ferry boat ...in the spring of 2016. As I have been doing a bunch recently, I converted this image to black & white and duotoned it in Photoshop. IMG_1848 Edit 2 One of my old favorite tricks, taking the law of thirds to its illogical end. Lots of ocean texture. Mangled heavily in Photoshop to make it look like a historical remnant. IMG_1853 Edit 2 Faux Large Format Shot: The Shenandoah, as photographed from a ferry. Converted to black & white and duotoned in Photoshop. Cropped to 4:5, which is still my favorite aspect ratio. IMG_1917 Edit 1 The most recent shot of the bunch, I took this last May during my previous visit to MV. I only got around to editing it this week. Converted to black & white using a yellow filter and then duotoned in Photoshop.2 points

I’m sorry Suzie is miserable and I hope this gets taken care of without issue. Don’t feel bad, Steve, it took several visits to several doctors across months if not years to pick up on Luvbug’s renal failure.1 point

Poor Suzy! Well, even though Dad can't speak dog, it sounds like Suzy knows how to get his attention. Seriously though, it sounds like something that happened so gradually neither one of you could have realized how serious it had gotten. I'm sure it'll be like a new lease on life once she recovers from surgery. Best thoughts coming her way!1 point

I thought my dog Suzy was just a bit out of sorts since the move to California. She peed in Al's house not long after arriving, then again in Stretch's house, once in my house and last night again in Al's house. This is way out of character for her! I thought it might be her way of telling me that I'm away from home too long now, as the workday is longer. Or I thought she was just discombobulated from all the recent changes. I noticed that she's been taking longer to pee, and possibly straining at the last. So today I looked up UTI symptoms for dogs and it all looked as though that may be the issue. I was able to get a vet. appt. last minute and took her in. She definitely has a UTI, but the cause was a shock. It seems she has giant stones in her tiny bladder that are taking up about half of her bladder. Way too big to pass naturally, so she is scheduled for surgery Tuesday. ATM she's on antibiotics for the UTI and pain meds for discomfort. Now I'm really feeling lousy for not diagnosing this earlier. Fingers crossed for a great surgery outcome!1 point

Jimi Hendrix - Early Instrumentals or a reasonably facsimile thereof. I had this EP on cassette during my high school years and played the bejeezus out of it. pyenapple's comment on Discogs sums it up rather well: That last bit is how I re-created the EP. Converted FLACs of the songs in question and turned them into an EP in iTunes.1 point

Gave up on Family Guy many moons ago but it still has one recurring gag that always makes me smile ... PS: You now have that in your head the rest of the weekend. You're welcome.1 point

I think he would certainly argue this! The first album I ever heard of theirs was after peak Lynne -- Time in 1981 -- but was also probably the first "concept" album I was ever somewhat aware of (at 11) as a coherent narrative/thing. Fully blew my tiny sci-fi loving mind. Wait, full disclosure, I also saw "Xanadu" in 1980 and it gave me feelings about Olivia Newton-John that I didn't know what to do with.1 point

^^Pics of the jacket??? I spent the afternoon testing out various types of motorcycles. Need to settle on exactly what type of bike I want to start with so tried out a bunch of different brands and types of bike. Mostly focused on the Adventure bikes as I thought they are the most practical. The main issue I had with them is they are really tall but seem to handle fine. Tried the Ducati which seemed to have all the right tech and was sportier than the Triumph Tiger which is at the top of my list so far. Then the 2017 Tiger 1200. The new model will not be in stock until March and is a big improvement on these, in tech, engine, etc. Like the looks of these a lot but it is even higher than the Ducati. Not as sporty feeling as the Ducati either but more comfortable. Then I tried something in a different class, the KTM 1290 Super Duke. Really fun to ride but not as useful for road trips, etc. Ran out of time so did not get to try any of the cruiser type bikes, but that should happen this weekend. I did however take part in my favorite part of starting a new hobby, buying shit.1 point

It's possible someone may have some GRLV boards left to spare. If you can't find a pair I was thinking of starting another group buy for them1 point

Finished my Dynahi this week, a big thanks to Kevin Gilmore making this project possible. Was a more or less ;-) troublefree build, thanks to this forum i get the needed information, thanks to all. I tried to build the Dynahi in a relative small case so the challenge was to shield the trafos, i used grain-oriented-steel bands around the trafos and top covers also made from grain-oriented-steel, added 70.- usd to the BOM but was well invested, no inducted noise at all :-). The amp is bias to 0.625 v so that the case can handle the heat. Sounds superb as the dynalo. I have a second headphone out on the back, i will use it together with the ifi iesl pro to drive my stax headphones (as my sony vfet via the iesl to drive the electrostats). https://www.head-fi.org/gallery/album/kevin-gilmore-dynahi.1154508/1 point
