  1. I assembled some 170Wx1 ICE amplifiers, that will power a pair of passive tapped horns for subwoofer duty Channel 2 (XLR input, 8 ohm load) Channel 2 (RCA Input, 8 ohm load) Channel 1 (XLR Input, 8 ohm load) Channel 1 (RCA Input, 8 ohm load)
  2. Just send me the 1.5TB of music. I'll downsample it all and send you back 128kbps files. No charge.
  3. Plays to the strength of the Cicadas, plus it is a great album for us old guys.
  4. I have Roon on the workstation now, the music is on the NAS. Works fine. Turns out you have to pick the right Mytek to get either DSD or MQA to play from Roon. Listening to Young Americans in 24/192 MQA at the moment on the bass monster Spirit Torinos.
  5. Sometimes you just need a burst of concentrated happiness with all the shitty news out there. Thankfully Bob & his Wailers always deliver. Bob Marley & The Wailers - Live At The Rainbow, 4th June 1977
  6. Here's some measurements of my Linear Tube Audio - MicroZOTL mk2, with Linear Power Supply. I'm powering a pair of Lowther TP1 speakers. 100mW output is the loudest I listen at, usually much lower. 200mW would be @pabbi1 levels. Tube Complement 1: - Brown base Sylvania 5692 - Valvo (Philips) 6201 gold pin Tube Complement 2: - Red base RCA 5692 - Sylvania 12AT7 It looks like my tubes may be better matched than the rest of the circuit 1mW output at 8 ohms 10mW output at 8 ohms 100mW output at 8 ohms
  7. Thanks everyone! I had a nice day with family. I’ve promised myself a night out once this COVID thing settles down.

  9. Well, it is in the sense that the necessity of something is inversely proportional to its likelihood of happening around here.

  11. Happy Birthday, Kerry!
  12. Just be careful if you're looking to use Roon Rock as the OS, it's apparently not "certified" on some of the newer NUC's. While it may be just testing is needed, some conspiracy-oriented folks think it may not install/run at all, and Roon is limiting it because they are selling their Nucleus servers and don't want to undercut them. I have it on a core i5 NUC 7th gen and it's running just lovely. KB article: https://kb.roonlabs.com/Roon_Optimized_Core_Kit
  13. the Mytek Brooklyn plus I had did 24/192 and dsd without issue via usb also their MQA implementation is wacky, if you have it enabled it fucks with the sound of non-mqa tracks so you need to enable it to play mqa then disable it to play normal shit. I did get used to the rotary dial and push button menu to change settings after a couple of days. Great sounding device and I thought the phono pre was very good for an included extra and you'd have to spend $1k to better it.
  14. Apparently We'll meet Again was recorded with accompaniment from a Hammond Novachord, a 163 tube polyphonic synthesizer. Only manufactured from 1939 to 1942 (because the supply of tubes dried up as the War progressed) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novachord (A positively petite instrument as compared with the 210 ton, 67kW power consumption Telharmonium at the turn of the century https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telharmonium )
  15. Have a great day - happy birthday!

  19. Happy birthday, Kerry! (party favour noise)
  20. Since when is necessary a measuring stick around here? I'll shoot you a message with the dimensions that I need and we can go from there.
  21. Happy Birthday! Here's to hoping that the only flames today are the birthday candles and not the circuit boards.
  22. Kerry Birthday, Happy!

  28. At least with Roon you send it over the network, so some of the USB issues are bypassed. And, now there's THIS, which I am thinking very much of getting.... (EDIT) just got, from Justin!
  29. Happy Birthday Kerry!
  30. Delivered this cutting board to my sister who is a lifelong quilter. *snip*
  31. You inspired me to get off my ass and work on my first real mod for the Traeger, a magnetic cutting board to mount to the top of the pellet hopper. I used the Shapeoko to machine a pocket into the back side of the cutting board as well as to make the recesses for the magnets. Then used the laser engraver to etch Traeger's logo into the top. I'll probably make a fancier version at some point but this will do for now.
  32. This version is both inferior and superior to the versions playing in my head, not sure why (other than the obvious—it doesn’t go on for an hour).
  33. I just wanted to work "IPANDA" into a sentence.
  34. ^^^ I've never needed such a thing. The fairy has aways treated each instance of infringement has homage, not insult.
  35. The only case that I know the brisket fairy has is a Louis Vuitton.
  36. Getting ready to reheat for dinner but early snacking is promising.
  37. Science begins at midnight tonight. 8-1/2 lbs, before trimming, a little over 6 after. It's mostly the flat with a little point left for making some burnt ends. Plan is to have it ready to pull off around noon so plenty of rest before dinner and no stress.
  38. For an inexpensive alternative, you could get an old SRM-T1, then for around $100, replace all the old electrolytic capacitors and put in my CCS mod. For another $100 substitute a TKD pot for the Alps, although you lose the balance function. Won't sound as good as the KG alternatives, but will sound better than any standard Stax amp IMHO.
  39. RIP Actor Ian Holm https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-13960349
