  1. Wilco at Interochen's Kresge Auditorium. Opening act is Courtney Marie Andrews, and @blessingx is the sole member to post her music in the listening thread. Most of the crowd is wandering the grounds and enjoying the evening sun than watching Courtney.

  2. Thanks everyone! A day off from work with my girls. Squeezed in a quick mountain bike ride. Tough to beat.

  4. Courtney was really good for the 30 minutes she had. She also came out to sing California Stars with Tweedy. Admittedly, I was a little jealous that the Pitchfork Fest crowd got a duet with Japanese Breakfast, but this was good too.

  5. Awesome. I love a good cry. I'm eating Jalapenos with Habanero sauce right now. Gonna peel some onions later. 🤣 Maybe watch Old Yeller.

  14. I’ve gotten the dose and grind right with an 18/22 IMS basket and I’m now pulling free-range organic cruelty-free artisanal flecks and stripes. That was a good shot. Counter Culture Apollo, which is one of my three ā€œhouse espressoā€ beans.

  15. There is good news from his website - he reckons to be back up and running later this year. He is in his mid 70s by the way. Clearly can't keep a good man down!

  16. Ah, my Covid breakup (with humanity) album. Hope both bands were really good and you all had a great time. Most of the crowd blew it. "Like a young Linda Ronstadt at her country-folk finest, Courtney Marie Andrews writes songs that seem lived-in and familiar in the best way. "Guilty" is a time machine straight back to early 1970s Laurel Canyon: beautiful piano, easy drums, and vocals so warm and evocative you feel the heart and the hunger even if you don't know the words. (There are echoes of that other canyon queen, Joni Mitchell, as well, especially in the hiccupping chorus of the gently bubbling "If I Told.") But the words are pretty powerful. Written and recorded at the end of a nine-year relationship—meaning it lasted nearly one-third of her life—Old Flowers finds the singer-songwriter poking at the tender bruise of heartbreak. "This album is about loving and caring for the person you know you can't be with."

  18. PM me with your info including serial #, let me know who you talked to. I think we can do better, I can get info about your headphone directly from the lead tech for CRBN.

  19. I love that too..... When I helped Andrew move in for his Senior year (my Karen stayed at home), I was good saying goodbye. But on the way home, Cat Stevens' "Father & Son" came on my playlist and I almost had to pull over my tears were so heavy.... But if the kids are doing well, it makes me happy - we are doing good things for them, and they are thriving!

  20. There's no way the L700 is better than the 007, at least in my experience. The L700 sounds more artificial and "off" at least in terms of midrange tone, whereas the 007 sounds more natural and is better in nearly every technical aspect. The issue with the 007 is that it's one of the least user-friendly headphones out there, hard to amp, very fit dependent, self-adjusting headband system that's awkward and keeps pulling the headphones out of position, modding required for the Mk2 models, etc etc. The 007 has the potential to sound really bad in the wrong system whereas the L700 generally sounds similar from system to system. But the 007 will scale and leave the L700 well behind. In regards to the 007 being too dark or too laid-back - just EQ 2-6khz up a little bit and problem solved. You need an amp with plenty of headroom though. There are reasons to fix the L700 Mk1. My broken yoke on one side is one. It's a good thing the new ones are metal. Also, the earcups have little tabs on them that prevent the top of the earcup from swiveling outwards far enough, putting too much pressure on the top of the earpad, and not enough on the bottom. It's an asinine design, and I'm guessing the extra bend in the yokes in the Mk2 is there for that reason. It would have been smarter still to delete the tabs entirely. Granted, the L700 is still rather good. Very punchy and dynamic, with a very 3D and holographic stage. The latter is probably the best aspect of it, that and the general forwardness of the presentation. But the 007 it ain't. RE: ES1a - interesting, and I'll put it on my radar. Maybe if impressions keep being positive (and I want to see some more comparative measurements) I might pick one up later down the line. Lots of other things to get to first.

  22. One of the places I used to buy timber, run by a really nice guy, has burned to the ground. Apart from the workshop, which contained industrial grade Felder machines https://www.felder-group.com/en-gb/products/planer-thicknessers-planers-thicknessers-c1948 , his fine timber store went too; he used to supply musical instrument makers. The extract system burst into flames while he was working in there. He beat a hasty retreat and watched as it burnt to the ground. You can just about make out the carcase of the Felders and radial arm saw. Fortunately he was insured, and Just Giving raised £14k. https://mactimbers.com/
