  1. Everyone wanted breakfast for dinner so I whipped up another batch of homemade buttermilk biscuits.

  2. Tried out my hand at slow smoked salmon. I liked it but possibly too smokey. Definetly not my wife's thing but my kids wolfed it down.

  3. This is what I hate most about what has become of the hobby. Farming out beta testing to initial adopters has gotten way out of hand, and apparently because the adopters are totally willing. It's one thing to have a focus group, but it's another to have paying customers agree or even not agree to becoming de facto beta testers for products that are barely out of proof-of-concept.

  4. Turns out what are finishing passes in aluminum are not the same in Delrin. Everything surprisingly fits exactly though, except I made the holes on the other side about .1mm too small. I checked with some stax plugs and it fits those nicely too.

  5. I have no problem with this as long as it is explicitly stated that is not a final product and this is effectively testing. Then it's on a fully informed consumer to take that on if they feel the price is fair. I have an issue when companies release a "finished" product when it really isn't and then use early adopters to test before releasing an updated or v2 shortly after. That imo is fraudulent, and way too much of it has been happening.

  7. Thanks all! Since we did not make it to the Peak District walking as a result of the Arctic invasion of our weather, Carole took me to the Hand and Flowers, a 2 Michelin star restaurant. It is so unpretentious - Tom Kerridge, the founder and head chef wanted essentially a pub atmosphere that sold superb food. First one is Lovage soup, croutons and smoked eel, second is celeriac soup. Then the Hand and Flowers signature - fish and chips (triple cooked chips/fries, pea puree and tartare sauce), and finally the thing that looks like Saturn is white chocolate shells filled with rhubarb, candied ginger and raspberry sorbet. I think there was some pieces of chocolate cake in there too. We had a good day!

  8. I come to my home town today. If someone said "you are going to miss this place" a year ago, I'd not believe that. In Istanbul, noone ever make eye contact when you are passing by them. In here I couldn't walk 100 meters without saying "hello". I really love Tavşanlı... Soon I'm going to send genuine Tavşanlı roasted chickenpeas to you! As a gift ofc.

  11. Needless to say, I invested in one of these works of art and well... it didn't disappoint. External build quality is way beyond the Cavalli Mk1 unit I had but inside...yeah.... So if anybody thinks this is good for 300$ they need their head checked. Every expense was spared here, just look at the high quality sockets used. I mean, who hasn't heard of the legendary "Hooya" sockets let alone "ZWEE". I mean quality stuff... Circuit looks to be identical to the LC minus the internal switcher. All the same issue as well plus the super cheap volume control...

  13. They are that, but they are available. DSHA3 and DSHA3F (specifically for Focals, picture below in walnut) are the current models, and Tom and I are very close to releasing the T5 which is effectively a DSHA output stage with tube gain. Indeed, I just received an updated T5 power transformer in the mail today that I soldered in not 10 minutes ago.

  17. i haven't really watched a whole lot of recent stuff (and enjoyed it), but both Youjo senki and Flip flappers were good (if flawed) Youjo senki starts out pretty uninteresting (and ugly) but turns out to be pretty enjoyable. Flip flappers starts out nice, but the ending episodes aren't too good. Being an old robot fan i also liked gundam iron blooded orphans s1 a lot. s2 was merely ok...

  25. Drove out to the coast this morning to see how things looked at high tide. The sea was angry. The waves were pushing 10-15', certainly larger than I've ever seen on the NH coast, and doing some significant damage. The coastal road was only open for about a 1/4 at this particular high spot. The flooding on either side was impressive.

  32. Not today, but very soon my buddy Milo (some of you may remember him from my trip to Lake Michigan recently, and he looks remarkably similar to Al) and I will be building this configurable router table together... Should be a really fun project, and quite useful for our little shop we're assembling. Milo is a handy guy!

  33. Looks really good! Minor point on the XLR wiring. You've got pins 1 chained together and then via a wire to chassis. And yes - pin 1 absolutely has to go to chassis, but by the shortest possible route - a separate thick wire from each pin 1 to a ground solder tag at the nearest XLR screw. With the arrangement you have, any RF intercepted by the balanced cable screens goes into a tuned radiative loop (from the dimensions, several hundred MHz) and spray it inside the chassis. And conversely any radiative interference from those class D power amps gets coupled onto the XLR cable screens.
