  5. Drank my Viognier and watched three coyotes saunter through my property. I need to post coyote etiquette hours for them to follow so I can enjoy my wine in peace. Cute and creepy all at the same time.

  8. I want to take a moment to encourage another woodworker to post more pics of his projects here. I'm privy to pics of many of Doug's projects. Doug's work is probably the most impressive to me of all of the woodworkers I know personally. And he's only been doing it for a few short years. His perfectionism is what drives him on, and it certainly shows through in his work. I think that can be a blessing (not you Ric), and a curse at the same time. Projects can turn into year long endeavors. And lots of joinery is scrapped as not up to par. I certainly don't have the patience to meet the criteria Doug not only aspires to, but usually achieves. I'm not sure I've expressed to him that he's one of my favorite woodworkers, as well as one of my favorite people. I just wish he would share more of his work with all of you. It's truly impressive!

  14. Yeah, my primary problem is the thickness of the legs. 1 3/4” and the ultimate is only 1 1/4 so I had to start with handheld router to copy the template onto the wood and now I will use that cut out as the template for the big bit.

  15. I’m interested in the new doc and don’t pretend to be objective here. SNL has had over 600 musical guests during its run and by my estimation two have used the platform well. Costello is in the number two slot. And I’m talking about her less commonly discussed appearance (strangely missing from web). Sure it was only a couple years, but Sinéad practically defined the rock&roll-punk mindset there for a bit and who else would tell Frank Sinatra to fuck off? It hardly seems an exaggeration to say, for a while it was like Sinéad versus the world and some of us weren’t sure who was going to win. It’s hard to ignore everything after, but if you squint and can, there are not many who flashed so brightly, staying pretty true and avoiding the rock star trappings… for a short while. Last indicator I’m probably taking this all too seriously, when Melissa got pregnant and I thought about music to play when they arrived Pet Sounds immediately came to mind. When we found out it was going to be a girl I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got was first album to be mentally added. EDIT: In other news, the doc, Nothing Compares, can't use Nothing Compares 2 U, because Prince's estate thinks his version needs protecting. That’s funny.

  17. That should fit. I think my primary problem was following the instructions and letting the motor pull the belt tight, but the shitty design makes it bind up and not get the belt tight enough. I ended up flipping a squeeze clamp and push the motor down to get a stretch on the belt.

  18. Jeff, Home Depot has steel bar stock in all sizes. They have 3/8" bar stock that you could cut to the length you need.

  22. Did a ton of bandsawering for the legs and seat edges for the chair and managed to make a giant, expensive pile of weirdly shaped cutoffs I need to come up with a project for.

  27. Close. There are other subtle reminders of differences, like the all the Fuck Newsom flags on surrounding properties and the 60ft Trump Nation banner right across the street. Still other similarities inside the time warp bubble…

  33. Took my 13 year old grandson Logan up to see the Mariners vs Padres yesterday. It was his first ball game as well as his first train ride and his first time to Seattle. Fortunately we squeezed in before the rail strike caused a bunch of cancellations. It was a great day. Perfect weather and the short walk from King Station to T-Mobile Park takes you right by the Seahawks stadium so it was cool to see that. It was Hispanic Heritage Day and Rodriguez and Suarez both homered in the 1st inning so that was pretty badass. Mariners won 6-1. I am really liking the M's this year. Rodriguez is the real deal and Saurez is a beast, and they have good defense and pitching so the pieces are in place for a deep playoff run 🤞 I am a bit of a purist so in the past I was always a National League guy because I hated the DH rule and I loved the chess game-within-the-game and small ball type baseball. Now, given the ubiquity of the DH rule, I have decided to dump the Dodgers and go full rabid fan on the Mariners. I just can't do the Dodgers anymore. They are the new Yankees (best team money can buy). So GO MARINERS!!! The other American League team I thought about are the Angels. The Angels and I were both born in LA in the same year and I really like Ohtani but I don't think he's going to be an Angel for long and in the end I decided to go NW local. I also looked hard @ the Rays because I admire how they are perennially competitive despite their relatively low salary and TB is my initials 😆. Speaking of purism: stop fucking with baseball! The rule next year forbidding shifts is ridiculous. They should play wherever the hell is most strategic and if it's causing you grief as a hitter then learn to go opposite field. Adapt. Although I suppose the shift is a relatively recent phenomenon so I dunno. Seems like they are trying to make the game more offensively oriented and for me a 1-0 pitcher's duel is a thing of beauty. So crack a cold one Al, there is one less Dodgers fan 🍻

  35. I've been without AC for a week but finally getting a new condenser in. They originally thought a crane would work but then decided there were too many power lines and went through the fence instead (there isn't enough room on the side of the house to get it through... dumb builders). Phew. Sleeping in the heat sucks (though I finally broke down and got a portable AC unit on Sunday).

  39. I say you anonymously send a to-scale TICE wood carving as a "thank you" for your first negative review in 40 years, and it's inspired you to work harder for any similar jobs going forward, being either with new clientele, or the thousands of satisfied customers. And, in case you don't want to do that, I'm going to go get a biscuit in about an hour and a half. If you PM me their phone number, I can make sure they get a picture of it "on accident" with a "thinking of you!" message to go along with it.
