July 9, 201213 yr Author Rest in peace Ernest. He was one of my favorite actors since childhood. I probably saw every episode of McHale's Navy a dozen times growing up. Acted in an amazing list of movies I love. Glad he got a lifetime achievement award last year. That is cool. And he was 95 years old so he had a pretty good, long life.
July 9, 201213 yr RIP. Yep, watched a lot of McHale's Navy, as well as Airwolf. I thought he was great in the Bruce Willis movie not that long ago (name escapes me) as well.

July 9, 201213 yr This. Yes, well expressed, Al. He was a convincing character. 95 is wonderful age that far too few people ever have the opportunity to experience.
July 9, 201213 yr R.I.P. Mr. Borgnine. When I was in my early 20's, we had a drag queen in Anchorage who looked just like Earnest Borgnine. As you might expect, a dress and makeup really didn't produce a pretty package. I think The Dirty Dozen and The Poseidon Adventure are the standouts for me, but that rough exterior coupled with a vulnerability really made for some interesting characters.
July 11, 201213 yr I'd like to say that his Oscar winning "Marty" was my fav but McHale's Navy was. And they wonder why "sticking it to the man" has been the favorite sport of my generation! RIP
