Would something like this help with not hearing the noise floor on the jh16s? There are times when I can't use my speakers (roommate in the apartment or julie studying nearby) and want to use the jh16s but the output on my desktop is noisy (as expected). 

Why not find out empirically?

Before ordering the Fulla I was looking forward to the upcoming Oppo portable DAC/amp, but Schiit beat them to the punch.

After 1750% funding of soapstone to replace ice and the kid wanting to make potato salad, I don't think asking for $12 is a ridiculous proposition.

sure. any decent USB DAC is going to have a lower noise floor than your computer's headphone jack

Got an email back from schiit saying the dac was noisy with the grado gr10 which is not as sensitive as the Jh 16. recommended I cancel the order since it was not the tool for the job. Extremely impressed with their honesty. Will likely buy from them in the future.

It may not be the product for you, CJ, but the manual and the FAQ's are good for a chuckle. 

Hold your horses a bit longer. Jason said that a certain amount of current production Fullas (Fullae?) have been manufactured with a wrong oscillator for 48KHz. I'd wait a bit until they get their act together.
