I've never had any trouble getting any headphone gear on airplanes, even crazy handmade amps in project cases. I really doubt THAT setup would set off any alarms

What kind of handmade amps?

I am planning on making a battery powered hybrid amp, more for a fun exercise than anything serious for use, if the tube board ever gets to me from the place I ordered it from.

oh, just things like the xin supermacro v3, cmoys, etc. If anything, I'd think having a tube amp would make it even more clear it wasn't a bomb. WTF would put a vacuum tube in a bomb?

A bomb maker that loves tubes duh.

I could easily see Mikhail making a bomb with tubes, it's just lucky for us that it most likely wouldn't work.

I have flown with both thunderpants and diy p2p tube amps in my carry on luggage with nary a problem. No one even asked me about my thunderpants that trip.

For the first time, my headphone bag (with Thunderpants) was selected for additional screening. No hassles, just an additional screening step. The bag is packed so full of electronics gear including a Nook Color that I was not real surprised.

My beautiful new Thunderpants. Wenge cups and I kept the Fostex pads. I find they seal more than adequately. These phones thoroughly and delightfully blow my mind. Smeggy, you're a DIY demigod sir. Godspeed with your business.

Oh and sorry for the somewhat mediocre pics. I'm not much of a photographer and still trying to figure out the ins and outs of my camera. I hope you enjoy nonetheless. :)

I've not seen Wenge with that smooth of a finish before. That must have taken some work. Beautiful!

Finally made it to my house to get my Thunderpants out of package storage.

The One Pant to rule them all! Actually, maybe this set should be called the ThunderEnts!

Congrat Jeff!

Thanks guys.

And yes, Steve. That Wenge was a total bitch to get smooth. Took me weeks of finishing/stripping/finishing rinse, repeat before I got them to look how I wanted. The stuff is a huge pain but it looks sooo nice when done so it was worth the effort. Can I use some of the pics you guys took to put on my gallery page as I forgot to take pics of some and some pics are better than mine :)

Oh, and any testimonials I can post would be great as well.

Thanks :)

Feel free to use any of my pics Smeggy. I will try to get some better ones when I dig out all my photography gear from my luggage.

Gary - you should feature Tyll's measurement graphs he took of Steve's old pair at CanJam 2010 somewhere on your site (and he may have measured another one as wel, I'm not sure exactly).

It sort of highlights the fact that your TPs measure better than average compared to many other headphones in the market.

I'll pm you later for a testimonial if you want.

That would be awesome, just a small snippet to put as a quote on my site would be ideal thanks :)

Gary I'd be delighted to send you all the pics I took of my TPs, along with a testimonial. I am madly in love with them.

Every single time I see VPI's TP's, my heart skips a beat....absolutely stunning!
