July 20, 201114 yr Tried to install the baby gate that arrived today. The gate came with few extensions with which one could use multiple combination to accommodate different opening width. One such combination accommodates up to 44" opening. The next combination up starts at 44.5" opening. Predictably, the opening I wanted to use the gate is wider than 44" and narrower than 44.5".
July 20, 201114 yr Yep, which is what I'll be grabbing later this week - hope it works well enough with the gate. Edited July 20, 201114 yr by Salt Peanuts
July 20, 201114 yr Author We actually used some oak boards to mount a gate at the top our stairs a few years ago for the very same reason.
July 21, 201114 yr I work in Special Education (severe). awesome, work pays for the nosejob! It's not broken THAT badly. It just looks slightly bent. Edited July 21, 201114 yr by Salt Peanuts
July 21, 201114 yr I work in Special Education (severe). It's not broken THAT badly. It just looks slightly bent. Jeebus. You don't get paid enough. No matter what you're paid.
July 21, 201114 yr Sorry Salty, but you are doing good work and outbursts seem to be inevitable in your field. My niece and her fiance both do similar work and have various scars and stories. Heal well and straight.
July 21, 201114 yr Sorry to hear about the accident, I hope your new nose does a better job of dodging obstacles. And hoping there was no pain involved. Edited July 21, 201114 yr by Augsburger
July 21, 201114 yr Really sorry Salty. That is an extremely tough job. Its complicated to restrain a child in the school system, its you who its ok to hurt somehow. Feel for you, hope it heals quickly.
July 21, 201114 yr That sucks Salty. I had an awesome day today. I arrived, jet lagged, to my office this morning and had a card in my mailbox. It was a thank you card from one of the 15 year olds in the summer program for high school girls I run each summer. She had written a thank you card saying how much she and the other girls enjoyed the program. She also told me that she had used the stipend she got at the end of the program (each girl gets $500 at the end) to start up her own 3 day cheerleading camp for some kids at the local homeless shelter. She used the money for t-shirts, bows, snacks and gift packs consisting of crayons, pens, candies, and stickers. She also sent a picture of the kids at her cheerleading camp - they looked so happy. It is hard to express how moved I was by this. It really made my day and every time I look at the picture, I get a little choked up. Edited July 22, 201114 yr by shellylh
July 22, 201114 yr Awesome job Shelly. When I begin to think the whole world is full of fucking assholes, things like this give me hope for the future. Good on you for helping to inspire her.
