March 28, 201115 yr comment_437082 I just wished there were more people there. The place was dead while I was there. It's not so bad now. I find plenty of stuff to do on campus and in Rochester (but it sucks if you don't have a car.) Report
June 13, 201115 yr Author comment_452305 We've now got internets at the new house on the Vineyard. Damn sight faster than I get on the mainland. Of course it's sodding Comcast and probably bandwidth capped at some absurdly low level. Report

June 19, 201115 yr comment_453353 Just self installed a Docsis 2.0 Modem I got at a garage sale this morning for $5. Slightly improved performance over the leased Docsis 1.0 modem which was EOL'ed ( since 1/11 - thanks for the heads up comcast - not) So thats $7 + tax, less a month that I now have to hand over to comcast. ROI of < 1 month = WIN ! Report

July 4, 201115 yr comment_456329 Speeds at work, where I've been not able to use internet for a while, due to their giving new login credentials. I wish I had this at home, though there things have improved quite a bit. Report
July 18, 201115 yr comment_458823 My folks' Roadrunner service up in Maine isn't all that great either, though in their case, both download and upload speed are atrocious. Of course, my in-laws' service (cable) is so bad that it's noticeably faster if I leave my iPhone on 3G than use their WiFi. Edited July 18, 201115 yr by Salt Peanuts Report
July 18, 201115 yr comment_458826 Predictably, this same cable company recently reassured my father-in-law multiple times they offered HD service in his area, only to tell him otherwise after he had replaced the TV. Report
