I just applied for two jobs at Sonos. My experience and skills are a good match and one of my references is a good friend with the HR manager, so I have a good chance of at least getting an interview. I applied via their web site. The last real question on the form was to enter your favorite musical performer or band.

I'd like to buy this t-shirt from the UK Comic Relief charity, but unfortunately for me they don't ship outside the UK. If someone in the UK could help me -- I would really appreciate it and, of course, cover the cost of shipping and the t-shirt.

  5. Today through a newspaper supplement article I've learnt about Chloe, the 10 year old kid who has a rare disease that only suffer 12 people in the planet. There are millions of people suffering in the World, so why care, you may think. One of the reasons making this case worth our attention is that there's an investigation going on, they know what gene is causing the disease and they know they might be able to produce the missing substance causing the problem. They estimate that the whole process until a cure is produced would cost about 200,000€. The important part, as I see it, is that contributing to this investigation we're opening the door to finding cure to other di…

Well, actually runs again. Karen is running the Chicago Marathon for St. Judes on October 11, 2015. I actually made a mistake in the year count so this is the eighth straight year she will run it. The total that has been raised over the last seven years has been close to $10,000. As usual, I am a little late in posting this year but if you can donate, that would be great, but well wishes are also very welcome. You can donate at the following link: Click To Donate Thanks for the Support.

I know there are more than a few of you on here. My grandfather was a woodworker by hobby, and also worked in boatyards (old lakeside marinas selling/servicing Shepherd, Chris-Craft, Century type boats) from the late 40s, though early 60s. I acquired a small stash of lumber from him in the mid 70s, consisting mostly of 5/4 rough oak and mahogany, with a few other odd bits. Sadly, he had cut several longer planks down to about 4' to fit the trunk of his car. Some of the boards were odd material, and all were fairly dusty and dirty. Most are reasonably flat, but a few are somewhat warped, or have big knots and/or checking, so have gone largely unused this whole tim…

I need to build a new set of steps from the attached garage to the house. I always like the ones a friend of mine has, and went out and bought the materials for them. These are what I would call box steps, but I haven't had any luck on finding plans for something like this online. I was planning on doing these with 2x8 framing on 12" centers and 3/4" plywood. Bottom section would be 5' x 31" and top 36" x 18".I attached a pic of the ones at my friend's house. I'm not sure how the overhang is done on these. Is it just the plywood, or something else? Any suggestions welcome.

You know, sometimes their descriptions are just plain daft, but I particularly enjoyed this one. I mean, instead of getting all technical, they just took what was going to be the definitive misinterpretation of things, and embraced it.

I don't know if any of you HCers took off your headphones stopped listening to your speaker rig long enough to notice, but the totally-in-his-right-mind, totally-a-rational-actor, totally-legitimately-elected, totally-not-a-warmongering-despot "President" of Russia invaded one his country's neighbors and may have kicked off the third installment of the much-delayed Word War series (srlsy even George R. R. Martin isn't this slow between volumes.) I've made a couple posts in Slow, but there's more going and at such a pace that a shitpost or two isn't going to cover it. In the MicS Discord we've been discussing it (well, shitposting about it) at great lenght. Even one of …

  16. Its now winter break for me and I have keys to the ceramics studio and am trying to think of some stuff to do. I was reading that RSA amp thread and noticed that ray was using a ceramic headphone stand and thought some people here might like for me to make them one. I wouldn't charge anything but shipping as they would be pretty cheap to make. This would be for established head-casers in the US only. Sorry to leave you canadians and europeans out in the cold but ceramics are heavy and shipping would be probably more than it's worth.

Okay Kansas seems to have a pretty diverse collection of bugs. I almost feeling like I am living in the south with the high temps and humidity. Well today I saw this bug while pumping gas and I don't think I will ever be able to sleep the same. It would have been okay if it was an average size bug but this monster was about five inches long. No idea what it is but I hope I never see one again. Sleep tight.
