So, bored at work, I stumbled across head-case from another link. I've been a part of that other site, but kinda trailed off for a while...thought it was because I'm not really doing headphones anymore. More like everyone worth paying attention to ran over here. I'll probably just lurk anyway, but thought I might as well pop in and say hi. And damn, I was so oblivious to what was going on over there. Me = teh dumb.

Anyone care to review some gear they haven't ever heard? The HE90 is a great headphone, especially paired with the Orpheus headphone amplifier. The Orpheus has the power in wattage and ampules to move the electrostatic weave band very quickly creating beautiful transient response and superb imaging akin to the best speaker systems ever made. Its like being there with the musicians when you listen to it. I was listening to jazz with it and it is like Miles Davis is alive and in my room with me blowing horn. Its like finally i stop listening to my gear and start listening to the music. After all, isn't that what this hobby is all about? Also the HE90 has a blacker backgr…

My three flavors of Bacon Salt arrived today (original, hickory, and peppered). I bought some fries and put some original on. First off all it doesn't stick very well. But more importantly it doesn't taste very good either... very "mesquitey". Tastes kind of like bacon, but crappy bacon. I'm earth-shatteringly disappointed... :'(

Does anyone have a guide that one could use to tell apart real and pirated CDs? Yesterday I received an Arcturus disc from ebay. The seller has 80+ positive feedbacks, and most recently (before I won this auction) got a negative from a buyer saying the CD was a fake. It was for an import CD. Everything from the booklet, back insert/inside insert makes it look authentic. Even the front of the CD looks authentic. Then I look at the matrix info on the underside of the CD and it says Tocano 2001 DK 47169, IFPI LP51 and then a barcode. Googling Tocano brings up: http://www.hugohein.com/other/complete.main/specs.tocano.htm I'm going to rip it, and then look at the s…

I've noticed this for a long time on head-fi but the last 5 or so threads in this topic have really driven it home. what games are you playing?, Post what you're watching, What are you EATING right now?, book-buying compulsion, Post the last thing you bought!, and What are you reading now? These are all grade A compulsions to disassociate from our emotions on top of our big obsessive compulsive disorder, audiophilia. So to make a long story short, tell us how baddly you were abused as a child.

Am I the only one who can't resist buying a book every time I go into a bookstore? I am almost compelled to buy a book whenever I walk into a bookstore, or else I feel like something is not complete. And sometimes I would buy books which I already have, but simply because I have an urge to read it but don't have it with me at my current location, and not to mention various different translations of the same work. Make no mistake, I read all the books that I buy, but because of this compulsion, I've built up a huge library, scattered in my college apartment and my parents' house. And I'm one of those people who doesn't have the heart to get rid of books, so every t…

I am making this my official thread for pet peeves. Every night the cleaning people empty my garbage can, and put it on the other side of my cubicle. Every morning I move it back. You think they would catch on at some point. I guess there is a reason they are night time janitors.

This girl made friends with me on myspace because we had similar interests and we wrote back and forth for a couple of weeks. After a while I began to see that she was more than a little crazy and started backing off. She then wanted to come and visit me and that's when I got out it entirely. I told her that she was too chaotic for me and we needed to stop talking. That was about a month ago. I just got two phone calls from friends that said that she had written crazy harassing messages to them. They were both on my myspace friends list and I now have no idea how many of these letters she sent out. I wrote everyone explaining the situation. My question to you guys is …

I have a slight Tinnitus in my right ear, that is the result of having my eardrum ruptured. BTW: having an ear drum torn sucks. Music was distorted for me for about two years, and I still dont have perfect bass response in that ear, I believe from the presence of scar tissue. The ring I have I only get when its silent around me. For example, right now I am in my cube at work (where it is quiet to begin with) and I have my er6i in , with nothign playing. I can hear the ringing in my right ear now, and only slightly if I take the etys out. My left ear has a normal amount of background noise. Is there anyhting I can do for this? It's really not that bad, but sometimes…

So I was writing a review of a new pen I bought over at the Fountain Pen Network, and the wood colored ebonite inspired me to take some pics of it in juxtaposition to my RS-1. I thought I'd share. Kind of a pipe dream, but it would be cool to see ebonite used in a headphone design, even though it would be both pointless and impractical. The pen is a Bexley Deluxe II in Antique Cream.
