So I bought a lot of modified headphones on ebay, SR-Lambda Signature, SR-007Mk2 and SR-009. They looked to be in rough condition so I thought, worst case I'll tinker with them and have some more spare parts for my stock. Hello Everyone, Stax noob here. I'm fairly new to electrostatics, but I did do my research before upgrading from my SRM-3. I managed to snag a 717 in what seems to be extremely good condition for around 670 USD a couple months ago. I've been really enjoying it, but I want to make sure the thing will last. I've read several times now that the electrolytic caps are a concern with aging Stax amps, and I want to know if they are any parts that need to be replaced in my unit in the near future. Having owned a DCA Aeon Noire for a while the DCA Stealth got me interested. I like what Dan is trying to achieve, with the introduction of the Expanse I couldn’t resist the urge to buy another flagship. So I have an Expanse incoming, will be pairing it with a CFA2. I do not like the dicky naming of the products, minor gripe hopefully I’m happy with what the Expanse brings to the table being that I love what the Noire achieves at its price point. Will be updating with impressions when I’m ready, has anybody heard or owned a DCA Stealth or Expanse?

Sadly, I have a noisy family. No but seriously they are real noisy. I listen currently to SR-007A Mk2 with KGST, but need a pair of closed back non-stats, which will be run off my PureBipolar. I have collected names, and have so far Focus Stellia or ZMF Verite Closed or Kennerton Rognir. A shop some hours away has 2/3 of these in stock. The question really is, for a stat devotee listening to acoustic music (classical and jazz) will any of these be acceptable in the aim to help me forget my family? Or will they all make me run screaming from the house instead?

I’m going to post this in its own thread as so many people are asking me for X9000 impressions, and it makes sense to have them somewhere where they are easy to find. I was also going to take some pictures to add to this review but I’m just wiped. Might add some later if these ever present storms let up for some good light. I've had my eye on these for the last year or so but waiting for a cheap set to come up. There are three versions they sell and I found the cheapest one for sale, brand new in the box with the transformer adapter. I'll take some pics of the system tomorrow (shortest day of the year here so... yeah not great for photos) but I've at least a pic of the headphones and the internals of the transformer box. Does anybody else not give a flying fuck that it sounds “artificial?” I’ve had Max for a while (and I adore them), but my shitty Ankers that I used for exercise gave up the ghost (they were good enough until they didn’t work anymore), so I bought a pair of AirPods Pro (my backup “Letscom” weren’t doing it for me). This pair had the non-spatial firmware out of the box. Took a day for it to update (Apple seriously needs to fix the firmware update situation). Does anyone know where to purchase a replacement elastic band for the Stax 007? Ideally same brown color. I have a larger head and the stock elastic is too tight, ideally would be great to have a looser fit. The rest of the fit is Ok the earcups seals pretty good but not as good as my 009. Hello, I have a vintage pair of Realistic PRO-50 headphones which I believe are the same as the AKG K250 600 ohm. (Made for Radio Shack by AKG.) They sound fine except for a very poor bass response. If I play them through either a software or hardware equalizer with the base controls pushed up high I do get a better bass response. I am using them with a Schiit Magni 3 amplifier set on the high position. I also get the same results with other headphone amps. Is this normal for this headphone? Are there any modifications to the headphones that I can make to improve the bass response? Many thanks in advance for any help.

My late 90's RS-1, which is my absolute favorite headphones (I don't know what words to use; is it a trouser or a pair; if anybody should know it should be me) in the world, need to be fixed. I think it's just a solder joint that became brittle. They have been like this for a while, but I could sort of nudge them. I called Grado about replacing the cable, and the woman (I assume a Grado relative, given her accent) could not promise that the drivers would't be replaced. I sold my HD650s a little while ago and now I kind of regret it. I'm thinking of picking up another pair of 650s or 6XXs, but there are rumors that the newer ones that are assembled in Romania are somewhat different than the made-in-Ireland sets.
