Check out the state of my R10s after I got them back. I am pretty sure they were like this before they went out on loan. The foam has completed melted/congealed into a sticky mess on the wood around the drivers. There is even a bit on the driver grills. I sent these pics to Alex to see if he was willing to resurrect them. I can get new pads and foam from Mikhail. Please let's have a moment of silence for the speedy recovery of my R10s .

So I read through EdipisReks' thread here, but I have already brought back one thread from the dead and decided better of it this time. So here is a new thread. Just got the MB Quart QP55x's yesterday. Got them through eBay for $45 shipped. Brand new, unopened box. I mainly got them for the velour pads to put on my Sextett's. Anyway, currently I have been listening to them and so far I am impressed. Build Decent quality, not as high quality as AKG or Senn's; but they should hold up to plenty of abuse. All plastic and retro looking. I won't say that they look "cool", but c'mon does that really matter anyway. The cord is higher quality than any Rat Shack cord, but n…

Wikia Impressions: @n3rdling's HE90 Clones (out of BHSE): For those of you who might have missed the opportunity to listen to these you need to put it on your must listen to at the next meet he attends. Personally having never listened to the original Orpheus but loving my 007 MK1 out of the Headamp BHSE and hating the Stax 009's I felt at a loss. I mean the 007 MK1 is my favorite headphone I own but at times want something a little more refined that my HD800 SDR isn't doing. Well enter the HE90 clones I have heard these at one other meet I attended and it was out of the Headamp Aristaeus (oh yah the other e-stat amp Justin makes) and with the BHS…

Tyll seems to like them a whole lot. http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/i-love-these-headphonesthe-nad-viso-hp50 Color me interested. I suppose nobody else around here has heard them though. Some people say that are more open and brighter than the Momentum which would be nice.

Kevin probably already has one of these working in his lab, but this is nevertheless an interesting read: Hot nanotube sheets produce music on demand - nanotech - 31 October 2008 - New Scientist Tech The video of the nanotubes being stretched is kinda cool too.

Ahoi, I've been searching for quite a while now. What I want is a comfortable, good sounding headphone which offers a bit isolation. First, let me sum up what I already heard: Shure SRH840 (good overall but not good enough in the end) Audio Technica ATH-W5000 (very nice overall but the strange coloration can be a problem, I really loved the bass and highs) AKG K-271 (I liked the bass and the mids but overall I found it to be a bit too boring) Compact Monitors Stage 3 (custom inears from Germany, almost perfect but my anatomy has problems with inears so I left that path completely) Westone UM3x (before the Stage 3, also nice but in absolute terms a bit lacking) …

So I've been looking for a solid pair of earphones (under $100), not in-ear phones (they feel like Q-tips to me), and not headphones....just something like those earphones that come with your Ipod but sound much better. Now I can obviously see why stores won't let you test them, because who'd want to wear a pair that's been in 100's of people's ears? That being said I come to you, and look for some advice on a good pair you'd recommend. Quick info: • I listen to a lot of classic rock/ballads, not sure if this helps recommend a pair? • I am not a fan of bass, the whole thump-thump sounds people obsess over isn't something I care for much. I like the sounds t…

hi, i'm kind of an amateur at this, though i have been lurking for quite some time. i'm looking for closed cans that i can use in public places. up until now i've used iem's, but they get uncomfortable and my ears get all stuffed up wearing them for long periods of time. so i'm thinking closed are the way to go with me. another thing i'm looking for is a warm, non-fatiguing sound! i have ety er-6i, and koss ksc-75, and while i appreciate the detail and neutrality they give, they are both somewhat fatiguing. so i'm looking for phones that i can wear for a long period of time without getting fatigued...and i'm thinking a warm sound would be good for that. yester…

So recently i have been trying to find a headphone that is within my budget of (Below $80) i've done some research and found some headphones that might be right for me. I use headphones mainly for enjoying music and playing games. I currently have the Philips SHP805 and I enjoy the quality that this headphone provides me, but now I’m looking for better headphones. I'm not a hardcore gamer and just need a headphone that when I’m playing first person shooter games i could hear where the footsteps are clearly. Sound Quality is what matters to me at most. Sorry I'm completely new to buying headphones. Thank You! Here's a list of headphones i think are the best f…

First of all, while typing this, I have a strange urge to jump out of the window while stabbing and choking myself at the same time. Why? Because I really think that I am not posting this in the correct sub-forum or even the right website. I browsed through this website and all the forums (the music one looks brilliant) and not only does the front page have a welcoming "I VOMIT ON GOD'S CHILD" on it ( ) but I also couldn`t see any similar request threads. So, yeah, here is my apology in case I am a complete douchebag. So, to the point. I am looking for some good headphones and by headphones I mean big ones like these, not little ones that go into your ears. Also: *…

Hey everyone. I know how much we all hate these threads, but I need some help. My cousin needs a closed full sized can for under $100. She already destroyed 2 pairs of K81DJs so something strong is a must. She uses them obviously unamped out of her Zune. Can you recommend something decent? Thanks

Hey guys, I'm planning on designing some leather Grado pads but I would like to get some suggestions as to whether people would prefer the pads being more bowl shaped or GS1000 pad shaped. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks

I'm having trouble with intermittent signal loss due to problem at strain relief/cable entry. If I hold the cable near the strain relief and twist it, I can get the signal back, so naturally I'm guessing that something is loose. The problem is that I have no idea how to take the strain relief apart, let alone any experience with a soldering iron to fix it. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to get this fixed? I've noticed that Yama's is not the best place to go, and besides this pair is beyond its Japanese-only warranty period. I'm cool with a whole recable or something like that, but I don't see any examples of work done on any of the small-time headphone cabling sho…

The price is not yet a problem so I have no price range restriction, although I don't want something over 1000$... if you know what I mean. I want my headphones to be completely wireless (no wire, no usb dungle, no dock station). I want to be able to lay in my bed or walk into the house without the laptop with me (especially for Google/Skype Phone Calls) (this let me conclude that any IR (infra red) wouldn't be suitable since they require the headphones to be in sight of the IR signal transmitter to communicate. I will be using these both for phone call and listening to music as long as playing so games (so It requires a Mic for the phones calls and must have some decent …

My name is Jesse Milstead of Lackey high school and my engineering team and I are desiging/creating a tracesable arrow using both a knock that lights up and a very small speaker. The speaker part is what i need your help with, we need a speaker 3mm or smaller and it doesnt matter how long it is. But the smaller the better in this case since we need to not mess with balance of the arrow as much as possible. Thanks, Jesse and JCD Engineering

So where to start... I didn't want to post anything until I actually got my hands on at least a few of the new "un-veiled" LCD3s. I've heard three of these new ones and measured two so far. I suspect these new LCD3s don't quite sound the same as the "un-veiled" ones heard at CanJam, because they depart from the Audeze house sound quite a bit. The two pairs I've measured have excellent driver matching, and they even match each other quite well too. This would be a first for Audeze (at least from the cans that I've heard myself.) BTW, I'm not going to bore anyone with graphs - you guys know where to get them - or you can just ask. On that topic, I would like to see Audez…

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=MDRD777LP&DCMP=Redirect_ss_MDRRD777LP Looks scarily similar to triports in some ways... But it is a new contender in the closed headphone market, and seems to have something PTH like built in. Ultrasone also have announced their Edition 9, which seems to be a repackaged Edition 7.

Story from Engadget about Apple's new ear buds. Here is the story below: Remember those new in-ear headphones we heard about from Mr. Jobs himself back in September? Well, he promised them for October (see the giant slide behind him), and here we are, in December, and they've finally appeared. Each earbud's got its own woofer and tweeter, so be prepared for Master of Puppets to sound better than ever. They've got a built-in remote and mic -- yet curiously aren't compatible with the iPhone -- and they come with three sets of interchangeable silicone tips for small, medium, and large ears. Are you rocked to the very core of your existence yet? Well, the $79 price …

I had suspected this for quite a while, but I've only been able to say it a few times. At the Los Angeles Meet, after I had heard everything I wanted to hear, I picked up Headroom's K701 and tried to find the perfect SE amp for it. the idea was that eventually I'd find the perfect synergy, and I did. No, it wasn't some maxed SP amp or that lovely ZD, or even the powerful blockhead... but, a humble DIY dynahi that really brought it up to life. fast forward about a year... Over this summer i've been blessed by the opportunity to baby sit Humanflyz's GS-X. It really did some amazing things to the HD650 (fully balanced of course, with Daba's Benchmarck Dac-1). And that is…
