Just got 16 gig 3 GS Iphone friday. I have 3 itunes libraries on seperate computers. Music is on home pc and podcasts only on laptop and workplace pc. I set iphone to manually manage files (no synching). I do the same thing with my ipods (5G 30 gig, 80 gig Classic, and 3G nano) and am able to go back and forth from library to library. The iphone will not let me do this. When I try, I get message that it is already synched to a library and will wipe out what I have on iphone and synch to new library. The iphone is set to manualy manage music and videos, not synch. What gives?

I'd like to give my son my old 3G iPod, but the Apple volume limiter only applies to 5G and later, as I understand it. I looked into rockbox, but it does not appear to be a feature. Does anyone know: a) can rockbox limit volume or is there another solution. Basically, I don't want him to blow his eardrums out (he's almost 3).

So I was reading a review of the ElectroKID in a recent issue of HFN, and they said that the Krell is one of the few docks that takes advantage of the fact that the iPod actually has a the requirements for a true balanced line out (I.E. both regular and inverse signals). Is that true? Do any of the DIY cable makers take advantage of that fact?

Recently upgraded car stereo to Alpine CDA9885 so I could use my Ipod in the car. Original plan was to buy Nano and leave it in the car all the time, but have been reading on a few car audio forums that the new Ipods (Nano and Touch specifically) are having problems interfacing with pretty much all car recievers. Don't know this for a fact but that is what I have been reading. Now the plan is to buy new Classic for my everyday use at work and move my 5.5g 30 gig to car. The reason I had originally planned on the Nano was no hard drive to be affected by vibration (if it would). I found a good solution to the video transcoding dilemma in the for of the Xilisoft Video converter. I endcoded a couple of videos with it yesterday and it worked great and only takes about 15min. to transcode a 40 minute show which seems perfectly reasonable to me. I haven't decided whether or not to install the 5 App pack from January since I don't really need any of them. I can check my gmail through the web interface and even that is hardly necessary. Hey all. I am new to this forum, so please be gentle. I have read nothing but praise for the RWA iMod at head-fi. RWA's other products have received favorable attention elsewhere (e.g. SonicFlare, 6 Moons). So I am all ready to send my iPod to RWA for modding. Then, I spend a few minutes here and I am skeptical. So what's the deal.

Have the opportunity to get a 16gb version. Right now I'm fairly content running my 2gb Nano/Hornet combo, but wondering if the line-out of the touch is superior the the line-out of the 1st Gen Nano with the Wolfson DAC. I read somewhere on head-fi and other places that Apple has cleaned up the LOD portion of the docks with minimal PCB traces and a clean signal. I just can't remember if the touch was part of that "cleaning up". The only advantages the touch (DAP wise, no other features taken into consideration) would have over my Nano would be the storage space with the SQ. So is it a worthwhile upgrade? Or should I just stick with my Nano? If anything, I may pick it …

Basically I cannot use my jh13's with the case on my iPhone, the shell around the headphone out is raised and bulky enough to prevent a full inserted connection. But i like the case because it's slim and pretty durable (casecrown). So I am thinking a female to male 1/8 inch headphone adaptor of sorts and the male end is long and thin enough to insert completely without being obstructed by the case ( yes go ahead and make a joke but then after you must answer my question ok thx).

I didn't get to hear the JH-13 Pros, but the massive hype around these is messing with my head. Would I be crazy to just forget about full-sized phones/amps? I just got these from a computer store for about $90. Since I got my iPod Shuffle 3G (4GB) last year, I've been looking for a reasonable upgrade from the stock iBuds. The Klipsch X10i were about $280 in the same store, which was tempting, but I thought the S4i were more appropriate considering my "active" lifestyle and my use of lossy compression. We'll my iPhone 6plus is getting laggy and the 7 is a non-starter for me (no headphone jack). I am giving up hope that Apple will go back to a 3,5 mil hp jack so enter the LG V20. I am trying to strip down my smart phone and basically use the phone - dap- camera-maps-email function but get away from instagram/facebook blah blah blah. So anyone here use the LG, I know Peter was a pretty big supporter. I would likely use Neutron as a player and load a large micro sd. I'll post this in portable audio, since I'm going to talk about my car. My head unit is borken -- it won't play CD's. I suspect it's just an alignment problem, but since it's a proprietary system built by Clarion for Suzuki, I'm thinking I'll probably have to replace it. So I'm having a hard time finding what the dimensions of the unit are without taking it apart. Clarion incorrectly labels it as a Euro-DIN unit, which it's not. Euro-DIN is close to single DIN, but mine is closer to a double-DIN. A couple of months ago I finally got a DIY iMod. It's a 4th gen unit, modded with blackgates from the headphone out, and with a cap-less modded signal path from the lineout, that goes into a Sonicap dock (same as Vcap dock, but smaller & cheaper). I am selling my ipod classic 160gb on ebay as we speak and I want a new music player that isnt so large. for real portability I want something small and light but some fairly decent hardware under the hood that can really take advantage of my moda vibes or my soon to own yuin pk1s. also i might use the pico with it when i own the pico next year. I would need at least 6gb space. also I have been encoding using apple lossless however I dont know if other players can play them.
