Hi, I'm going to buy my new DAP so I need your suggestions on these 3 players. I'm listen to R&B most the time, Dance, Pop.... so which one will be the most fit one for me? Thanks

I know quite a few of you guys had either at one point, and I wonder what you guys thought about it. First of all, the difference between the two. The dj has line and variable headphone out with the volume knob. The io has line/headphone out and line in. The question is basically about the outputs. The dj headphone out seems like a dedicated headphone thing, while the io seems like it's a combined headphone/line out, BUT the advert claims both have "high quality headphone amps" built in. So I am confused. I have a feeling the only way to settle this is to buy both, listen to them, and then take them apart. I would do all that if anyone is even interestedin something…

I have most of my CD's backed-up/ripped in ALAC. While this works well if I want to burn some songs or albums on to CDR, I really don't need to these files to be in ALAC for my iPod. I suppose I could just convert them all to lower bitrate onto another hard drive, but I really don't want to do that (i.e., lazy). Are there any OSX software that would down-convert the music as I put them on my iPod?

I have ordered a Fostex HP-P1, DT1350 and an iPod Touch for new portable setup. Looking forward to receipt of components.

My faithful Creative Zen Touch needs upgrading, and an 80 gb iPod looks like it might be the current sweet spot. From what I have discovered, it looks like if I install rockbox, I can play flac files on an iPod. If I'm right, looks like I need to choose between flac and apple lossless. Ideally, I only want to rip my CDs once. Down the track, I may well start using a squeezebox or something similar in my home system. Are there any sq advantages of one type over the other? What about storage space?

Basically I cannot use my jh13's with the case on my iPhone, the shell around the headphone out is raised and bulky enough to prevent a full inserted connection. But i like the case because it's slim and pretty durable (casecrown). So I am thinking a female to male 1/8 inch headphone adaptor of sorts and the male end is long and thin enough to insert completely without being obstructed by the case ( yes go ahead and make a joke but then after you must answer my question ok thx).

I made a long and detailed post elsewhere. The high points are: The new model is moar better. More extended on top, better detail throughout the band, better background (or microdynamics), removable cable and nicer physical design. They need a crapload of break in - a couple hundred hours at least - and as they break in, they may actually sound worse than straight out of the box. I hear that the etymotics are rather bass shy, but I'm not a basshead, as long as I can hear it and its nice and tightly controlled. Here's some other information. I saw that the SA-1 has been launched by my boys at Sleek. 3mm dynamic driver, not balanced armature . I heard this a couple weeks ago when I went down for custom impressions, and I'll say that for $80 this thing is pretty cool. Didn't bring my own source so I ended up borrowing an iTouch from Bill@Sleek. For now I'll blame a bit of treble strangeness on unknown encryption or something. These shine in the bass and midrange, and for the price could be a nice pair of beater IEMs, or an awesome gift.

I'll miss having the option of an inexpensive iPod... my 3G 4GB iPod Shuffle is serving me well, but sales have probably fallen off a cliff in recent years.

I got my friend a pair of OK2s for his birthday to use with his iPod and he's all so I was thinking of throwing in something basic for his PC. I know this is one of those questions, but I guess I'm looking for a cheap and cheerful USB DAC/amp that will leave some room to grow with harder-to-drive headphones. Thinking Total Bithead budget -- is there a better way to go (including used and DIY) for that kind of scratch? All suggestions welcome. Except "buy him a Pico." We're not that kind of friends.

I'm a budding audiophile. I just attended CanJam NYC and was blown away by all the amazing options for beautiful hi fidelity sound. My first purchase a few months ago was the ATH IM-02 IEM's. I also picked up the 1more triple drivers for times when a need a little more bass or just want to be rough and don't want to injure the ATH's. I am using an iPhone 7 with the provided Apple lightening to audio adapter and listening to Apple Music. My question... what would be the next step towards improving my sound? Bonnie is participating in a charity secret Santa at her work, It's pretty swinging, actually. Each employee gets to expense $100 for gifts for some disadvantaged kid. Bonnie's kid is a 13 year old girl. She wants some typical "girl stuff" and an MP3 player. So, we need a circa $50 MP3 player. A quick perusal of Amazon suggests the Sandisk Sansa. But I have no idea what features are valued by the typical 13 year old girl. I do notice that the Sansa doesn't appear to support AAC. Is that a big problem? Do kids buy music from iTunes? Is 8 GB big enough? Would 4 be enough? (4 GB Sansas come in cool colors. The 8 GB one seems to be only in Model-T Ford black.) What about …
