Who know headphones that van been transfered to 3M Peltor Optime 105 H10A/III H540A earmuff, without soldering or using soldering glue. To create ultimate sound isolating headphones. Noticed that Urban Ears Plattan version 1 can been used for this. But i search for another headphone that can been used, without removing wires from drivers.

I am probably starting to much thread here but anyway, here is another one. I heard about the Bamaslama amp, and now I want to build one. schematic: PSU amp Is the relay needed because of the power supply design ? Does it make a "plop" when you power the amp ? Can I use cheap dual op-amp or something special is needed there ? Then what kind of relay do I need ? Are all resistors 1/4W ? Do i need matched pair for the second stage tube ? What will be the DC offset like ? What is the filament wiring like ? What will be the approximate price to build it ? I will use cheap coupling caps in the first time. Lots of question as always,

So I am getting ready to order a Hakko 936 as my cheap-o irons have pretty much had it. Which soldering tips do you guys recommend? I'm not real big on single use tools, so which tip would you consider the swiss army knife for the Hakko? I will be soldering my first SMD parts so something that runs the gammut would be great. Had a few transformers from ToroIDY with two 115V primarys I needed to serialize, unfortunately no markings of the phase. Hook'ed up one of the secondaries to a function generator, and serialized the two primaries. Having two free leads and two connected leads (CT) Measured the voltage V1 from CT to one lead, and V2 from CT to second lead. Finally measured the voltage V3 from lead to lead. If V1 + V2 = V3, then the two windings are in phase. If V1+V2 ≠ V3, the the two windings are out of phase. Are there an easier way of determine the phase of transformer windings?

folks, if i wanna build a single ended amp (amp for headphones, but not electrostatic amp), which model(s) is the best choice?

I got to thinking, that my source outputs PLENTY of voltage, so I could possibly get by with a headphone amp in unity gain, only suppling additional current. Is it possible to properly operate the dynahi this way? I am aware of how to change the gain, and fortunately dgardner socketed the gain resistor for me. My understanding of gain tells me that this resistor would essentially be bypassed to run unity gain, correct? The unusual nature of that setup is what made me wonder if it were possible. Certainly I could stick in a 100ohm resistor to get to a gain of 2, right? At any rate, is there any point to this? I figured that lower gain would equal less noise, since the v…

hi! i'm new here.. i'd like to ask for some help. diagnosis and repair.. i have a A4tech hu-200 usb headphone. now it only plays the right channel.. but before that happened i noticed that the audio is like panning from left to right til it could only be heard in the right. i researched about repairing headphones and all i saw is that the problem could be a loose wire or something similar but when i open my headphone there were no loose or broken wires. what could be the problem? and how do i fix it? i don't wanna send it to a repair shop cause i wanna see if i could repair it myself.

I'm looking for something that adds basic control functionality to a computer IDE drive (pause, previous track etc). The front buttons are just eject and play/next track. Is there a simple solution for this?

So I recently picked up a couple of niche audio control modules. They're unusual passive summing boxes/mixers controlled entirely by midi. It's 8 inputs, 8 outputs, and then a summed out. The 8 inputs and 8 outputs are TS unbalanced, with a TRS out that's 1-4 TS and 5-8 RS. If I were to make an XLR patch panel that has 4 XLR inputs that send each channel to pins 1/2 and 1/3 as TS cables, would this result in a 4 channel balanced mono summing mixer?

Hi folks, the Soldermizing itch has started again...I am in possession of a Stax SRM-1/Mk 2 "energizer" that, apparently, is in perfect working condition. Still, that is no reason not to f*** with it! Elsewhere, here or on one of the other "headphone" sites, I found guides to such things as re-biasing the unit (mine is a tad off), and thanks to (uh...) the person who pointed me to a schematic of this unit. The SRM-1 looks fairly basic and is within reach of my admittedly dodgy soldering skills. I would like to, at minimum, replace the power supply caps. They used to do it for classrooms, and I have a similar program for 16 listeners. I'm on a small budget and can't afford a headphone amplifier. I want to use an old stereo amplifier of about 5-10 or 20 watts (which is really two amps in one box) on a TV output source. A switch on the panel will unify the stereo to mono left amp, and right amp. I have a Telex model 753 mono passive headphone splitter with 8 each 1/4" mono inputs, for one channel, and parts to make an identical splitter for the other channel. Where do I get started with case work? Obviously you get a case, drill necessary holes, and mount everything, but how do you pick cases and what kind of tools are necessary for plastic or metal?

So, I had a bit of fun last night and experimented with stacking a small (valued) cap with a large valued cap to get extra WVDC capacity from the two caps in series. Works like a champ and it looks that my little psu scales up quite nicely. Of course, now I see where the danger lies, in that the sleeve of one capacitor can be near lethal to touch. Also, unequal values seemed to work better than a pair of equal values, which kinda makes sense. So, I started thinking... Would just strapping a pair of HV supplies, say two 400v supplies to make a single 800v supply be a better approach (or four 400v supplies to make a +- 800v supply, etc.) This way I can use 500v caps and …

Bought a piece of Rosewood and churned out a couple of woodies. It is an amazing specimen as far as wood goes and I hope to use it again in the future; it had a brilliant graining that shines up pretty nicely if I do say so myself. The cups on the left are a commissioned SR225 woody, and the big 'un on the right is my D2000 that some of you might have seen over on the other site. Hope to try out Cocobolo for my next project, just not looking forward to the cost :/.
