hey, I was wonder if a 400 VDC rated cap would be suitable for replacing the interstage coupling caps in my MPX3 SE? There are 2 caps. I got a tip from Mr. Hansen about a line of capacitors I'd like to try, just don't know how to go about verifying they will work.

Of course it's not an exact clone due to several changes, but I was wondering what opinions of the project might be. Check it out here/. I'm considering taking that and doing some mods to it or taking the Buffalo and building a DAC around that, or maybe even the PCM1794 or PCM1704. I'm just throwing this out here to see what kind of opinion I get.

It occurred to me a while back that my rig has gotten to a point that in terms of headphone amps it'll be pretty damn hard to beat what I have and that continuing to build more headphone amps is probably pretty silly. I'm looking for some new hex keys/allen wrenches. I have the typical cheap set and assorted ones that came with furniture, but those suck because they tend to corrode or get stripped by tight screws. I need a set that is well-made and has more torque than the typical L-shaped keys. I know Klein makes sets, but they can get pricey. Any recommendations?

I am having some PCBs made, and I have a 3.5" x 3.9" spot left empty on the panel. If anyone has a small board they want made, and it will fit within that spot (that size or smaller), I am happy to add it. Board will be 2oz copper and RoHS if that matters. Cost is Free. The only complication is that I am sending the order in late Sunday, or possibly very early Monday, so I'd need the files before then. I guess the other complication is that if you did not do the board in Eagle, there is no guarantee it will work. We'll see.

cable talk, how do we react when we facing cable?

For the last few months I've lost all my motivation for DIY. I have parts to complete quite a few projects but all my motivation is gone... I haven't been listening alot of music too... I'm not sure if this is the right place but I guess DIYers should understand better whats going on inside the DAC. Basically the Northstar doesn't lock with the upscaling activated and just blinks wildly, If I turn off the upscaling before it starts blinking it will play without a problem but if I let a few minutes with it on, it goes wild and won't let me deactivate the upscaling. When this happens if I connect any transport it immediately does that even without music. Any idea what this could be and if it can be fixed ?

So I am planning on ordering a bunch of the BC546 and BC556 for the Unbalanced\Balanced board and I'll need to measure, sort, label and store them. 1. can I store them in a regular plastic parts bin with dividers? 2. can I stick labels on the pins and fold the labels closed?

I have some Grado Aluminum headset blocks that I got from the guy in Malaysia. I've been trying to find someone who will do a small job like this but have been unsuccessful so far. I would like to get R and L milled into them with the square border areound the letters like on the Factory plastic blocks. Anybody have any suggestion for someone who would do something like this?

Hi All, I would like to mod my SRM007Tii so that it can use 6S4A tubes. However I am almost new in messing around with electronics circuit. Need some guidance from you all. Hi All, I have been going cross-eyed of late poring through the various threads for the projects required to get a complete amp together and hoping to get a few pointers. I was originally looking at building a Dynalo based amp but after some feedback from Pars and others I had a look at the CFA2/3 boards and think I have decided to go with a CFA3 based build. So over the past two weekends I re-cased my original Dynahi. It's always had a slight 60 Hz hum from the transformer (my best guess). The amp boards, psu and tranny are all in one 16" x 12" x 4" case from par-metal. This time I put the transformer in it's own aluminum project box with a cover and then put that in the case. Then I put an aluminum barrier plate that runs the length of the case in between the amp boards and the power side. I used unshield twisted pair wire to hookup the input and output of the amp. The hum is still there as it was before without any of that. My guess is that aluminum project box is not a good shield and I should use shielded twi…

Hi guys and gals, I bought a gamma2 and I'd like to plug in to the wall and use the trasit to send it data across toslink to avoid ground loop issues. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what to buy for a 5v 300mA supply to use with it. Sorry for the dumb question but I'm having no luck finding one and I'm obviously looking in the wrong place.

I don't know what's going on, but my solder just isn't flowing. It's Wonder Solder 0.031" and I tried every temperature from 390F to 800F, it melts but just blobs on the iron and stuff. I was able to desolder some previously connected wires, but I can't tin my new ones. I'm thinking the solder is bad (I bought this new since I used up the last batch of Wonder Solder I had is used up) but any other insight is appreciated. I'd really like to get going on these projects I've had on hold for too long.
