Euthanasia Yolanda is history!!! Showed up to protest today. Was a little bummed that only two others were there, but it ended up not mattering. A Mr. Hooker (yeah I know) came out to ask if we could talk. After listening to my story, he asked if I would be willing to give a written statement. I said yes. As I was finishing my statement he came in to confirm that "she" was no longer employed there, and that her actions were in no way in compliance with policy. It feels good to stand up and be counted!
  2. my daughter drove me to south western va (on our way to tn) so that we can pick up keys to my apartment and drop off my turntable, records, and calfee.

I highly recommend my portable headphone amp. It's a few years older than some current portable amps, but they don't give me the same warm sensation...

  5. My favorite event was last weekend, the Texas Mile. It's a standing mile event and the first and largest of its kind. Basically we take over an ex-Navy airfield that's a private airport now so there's a mile and a half length "track". Always a bunch of great folks willing to help each other out and visit about their vehicles. Some neat cars and bikes there. Chrysler had a press crew there and my boy and I got sucked into an interview. Got our pit crew some swag so I guess it's all good in the end. Managed to beat my modern MOPAR record once I got my boat anchor of a 4L80E (GM truck transmission) to take overdrive. Really excited that the breakage was down to small stuff like a chin spoiler with a steel belly pan supporting it that sheared from the front bumper fascia and I cupped the steel pan and dragged all the way back to the pit...whoops. I had an end link come loose which woke me up. For one of these two reasons she was all over the place on the big end on a 211mph pass, but we went into town and double nutted it back on the coilover and all good. Zip ties FTW!!! HS

I'm picking up my second amp from Doug tomorrow personally at an LA meet. I can't wait to see how she turned out.
  7. Ah. Thank you, EdipisReks, and my apologies cetoole. Well, I was measuring ~21psi at the manifold as a result of the turbos. I'm guessing in the order of 1300+ rear wheel horsepower. The car weighs over 4500lbs with me in it...she's a piggy and the coefficient of drag is right up there with a big brick (hence that wrap that can be seen on the nose of the car). I don't have the heart to gut her for weight reduction although I should... Most things I have done in the way of modifications added weight (e.g. 10 point chromoly roll cage, bigger brakes, turbos, big transmission with sfi rate billet bell housing to help keep my legs where they belong, 9" rear end, halon extinguisher system, etc...). One of our cats used to be the scourge of local rodents. Her specialty was rats. These were big buggers and clearly faught back from the state of the cat afterwards. But she always ate a large chunk of them after the kill. Then we had to worm her each time. She's 14 now, and has a bit of arthritis in her legs, and had had to hang up her rat catcher credentials.

  12. I swear to Christ, Stretch, your stories are the best.
  13. Speaking of shitholes, I got dragged to the worst strip club in the world today during a corporate farewell. Sad, fat Bulgarian girls with mustaches and maybe three teeth between the entire English van driver clientele. I am permanently less horny for having ever darkened their door.

  16. Every once in a while (like every 6 months) something goes ping! in my brain, and I feel the naughty urge to have a McDonalds or Burger King meal. But a bit like sex with someone ugly, you feel almost instant regret and remorse once you're finished.
  17. You say, "a little cunty"...I say, "this is news?". Someone change my personalized subtitle to "a little cunty", I can't figure it out. That said, still want.
  18. That sounds a little...cunty.

It's nature, it's going to happen. You're doing so much, don't beat yourself up. BTW I'll be back protesting tomorrow. Last weekend 8 others showed up to protest. The lady called the cops, but the cops told her we we're not breaking any laws. The cop did ask me "What's the point?" WTF? I just replied "Life is the point".

Bloody well done Steve. Thank heavens right won the day.
  22. Absolutely! Fit and toe out/in is critical for the best results. Meets are not a good place to audition headphones in general, but even more so with the K1000. I really miss mine! Even more than I thought I would. That pseudo speakeresque quality just worked for me, even at the expense of the lower frequencies.
  23. Downloading demo now. I think I'm free to play later tonight. **BRENT**

  26. Yes, board ground, should be the same anywhere on the board, probably the middle terminal on the 3-pin connectors.
  27. Hey you guys - it is the small hours of the morning here, and far too late for me to lust after pizza and profiteroles. Mmmm.

  33. No, I see what they're doing. If it turns out that you're unable to use usb devices and the internet at the same time is an actual problem with the new macbooks and it's unrelated to 3rd party adapters, I'll buy brent biscuits.
  34. Plus they're awful! Like getting fucked in the ear with a dog dick. The PS-1s on the other hand I covet, as you know.
  35. We went to see him five or so years ago. We played the game of guess the song - his ability to mumble has increased as he gets older. I have no idea how many we got right, but I suspect not many.

  37. Not audio exactly but my new modem has been overheating causing it to drop connection and restart all the time. I took it apart and the silicone pad for the heatsink wasn't installed right. Since I had it open, I grabbed a bigger one out of the old parts bin, tapped a couple new holes in the sink to fit the board mounts and notched the cover so the heatpipe could fit through and used proper paste for the mating surface. Works perfectly and runs way cooler now. I need that reliable internet to waste time here after all. Old sink on the right

  42. It'd be nice, IF low distortion defines the quality of the sound. I found These on a site, which name is so obvious that I don't need to give it. And I assume from your post, Dr. Kevin you saw that too: Well, he describes O2 as "transparent-fi"... along many other things he knows... Impressive. I'm not sarcastic for this question, I'm asking this cuz I don't know really: Isn't 280ppV little bit low for a measurement of an amp which allegedly can go as high as 1600ppV? And numbers again... i guess THD measurements replaced 80's RMS... And I guess i have a pretty bad DAC, noone knows it's THD... MHDT Lab gives so little tech info about their products... But I must have shitty ears cuz i love my Atlantis. For I cannot hear that low THD numbers, I must have pretty bad ears, so I don't want to hear anything below %0,1 THD for i cannot hear anyway. It's bullshitness is so obvious, why people can not see it I don't understand. Don't care about THD, it means no effing thing below one zero IMHO. As I know you have Sr-207. Can you hear the distortions at 20Hz, 200Hz and 2kHz?
  43. Not cooking right now, but there were a lot of good tips in here: I'm curious if you all agree with the advice to take the oil well past it's smoke point -- that's not at all what I did. I also probably left too much oil on, as per the video.
  44. Biscuits and gravy.... sorry Brent
  45. I remember my first touch based interface. It was way back in the 70's. I think they called it a clitoris. I never got very good with it.
