  1. Fogless misting system for my mill I'll be able to turn this on and off from the milling software via the solenoid on the left (below)
  2. What do you mean blurry? That's precisely how I remember it...
  3. Never have I been more happy to spend 9 hours in a car in just over 24hrs. Was so good to see a bunch of you again for what I think was the first time in 5+ years.
  4. I love that I love sushi and love that you can get good sushi (and brussel sprout salad) at the grocery store! Trying to eat healthier so I got rid of the rice.
  5. Sorry I didn't get to hang with you guys outside of the meet ,But it was great seeing & talking to you at the meet. I also was impressed with the Sony System.
  6. We look OK now, But the fractious small child proximity alert has triggered. Deploy JH-13's, stat!
  7. Appropriate luggage tag
  8. Good to meet friends old and new. So long NYC
  9. Was I that out of control last night?
  10. Happy birthday, Jeff! Hit me up later and I'll help you buy you something fancy that I want and can't have. **BRENT** Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
  11. Are you talkin to me?
  12. That more or less makes it sashimi. I approve.
  13. It is a very Dusty (which my phone wanted to correct to disturbing) haircut.
  14. Still kind of in love with the bartendress and choosing to believe the altercation was just a mutual misunderstanding. Do hope you won't listen to any of the shitty life advice the third-oldest, second-drunkest* fart was so freely dispensing, though! (* Estimated.)
  15. Great time folks, thanks to all that were able to make it out and to the new members of the travel team. Headed back home on the train now feeling rung out but grinning ear to ear.
  16. "OK Stretch, here's the plan. You tackle that douche and then I'm going to stab him right through the fucking eyeball." "Not sure that's a great idea Al." "Who's the lawyer here, me or you?"
  17. Anybody remember how angry he got at CJ'10 when Justin lent Tyll some of his headphones to test?
  18. Imperialistic golem.
  19. Agree with everyone above. I'm probably never going to do a real write-up, so just going to post a lazy personal ranking from top to bottom of the non-Stax headphones I heard, which is not many because I spent most of the time in the AP room. Sony MDR-Z1R - pretty damn good, a bit too much bass at times but very easy to EQ that down a few dB Hifiman HE1000 v2 - surprisingly good, I liked it better than the Shangri La. But then again, I liked everything better than the Shangri La. Not gonna go into the whole build quality thing again Focal Utopia - there's a bit of an upper mid to lower treble peak that makes things sound "forward" (or ear stabby depending on your view), and it's slightly bass light. Stax usually has a small bump in the upper mid/lower treble region but the electrostat treble is smoother than dynamics which makes it less offensive Sonoma Electrostats - there's a lot of weird stuff going on as has been discussed before. Single-stator driver, converting D to A to A to D to D to A again because of DSP EQ, etc etc, but somehow it didn't sound too bad in the end IMO. Nothing to write home about though MrSpeakers Ether something or other - Not too bad but I did the hand dipole test (waving my hands in front of the back grilles) and strangely did not hear any change in sound. The "open" version doesn't seem to be as open as you would think... maybe there's a lot of acoustic damping. Audeze LCD-4 - typical underdamped ortho sound. Bloated bass and everything else kind of hazy, and the large dip in the treble makes it sound a bit sleepy as well. Would be interested to see what happens with some damping Hifiman Shangri La - the first one I heard was so damn bad, I thought it might be broken so I gave it a second chance the second day. I compared both Shangri Las connected to the 300B amp Sunday and one of them was noticeably brighter than the other so the manufacturing process isn't great. Neither of them was as bad as what I heard on the first day, but probably around HD600/650 level. I would recommend saving the $49,700
  20. Happy Birthday Jeff! For the day, stop being so moderate!
  21. 1 point
The King is still the King! Shot (and game) of the NBA season so far.
  22. It does kinda have that same floating on top of the head look, don't it? Sent from my mind using id, ego, or superego...
  23. A hearty, "that was fun". It was nice seeing those that I saw, sorry I missed those I missed, and it was nice to meet the people I met for the first time. No-one said anything about my haircut, though.
  24. That bit is well backwards! Great to meet you and Tom and Kerry and special thanks for the cognac.
  25. I thought that was for 1950's housewives?
  26. That would be a badass name for a Ziggy cover band!
  27. I accidentally spent the vast majority of my time at the meet in the Audio Precision room. Got some juicy measurements because I walked in with my vintage headphones as they were trying to measure various flagships. The measurement pdf they gave me for the ECR500 was the wrong one with messed up data, so I emailed them and they said their test gear was already being shipped back to Oregon so they'll send me the right pdf in a week, and then I'll post the full set here. Will post listening impressions later.
  28. Utopias sounds damn good out of the GSX and the Sony Z1R headphone and HA-ZH1ES dac/amp was quite a nice and compact setup.
  29. Really enjoyed myself this weekend Safe travels.
  30. Great to meet you too, Tom. Fly safe Peter. One more...

  36. Finally finished casing my Blue Hawaii today. Running on my "universal" PSU that also powers my HV Carbon. 400VDC and 18VDC rails, 20mA plate current. The heatsinks warm up to about 42C (108F) and stabilize, about 22C (40F) rise from ambient temperature. The chassis is a Breeze Audio 3608A, one of 5 chassis I bought from Breeze Audio at TaoBao. I requested that the front and rear panels be left plane, un-drilled. Works quite well.
  37. I hope little monkey grows to be 6'9". Dinny works hard, and deserves to get to be carried around in a papoose.
  38. Monkeys of assorted sizes have been spotted at the show.
  39. This is awesome and great the Monkey showed but where did you pick up the loser with the jacket and tie?
  40. Hi guys (waving)!!!!
  41. ^^This! Have fun travel team.
  42. Okay,.. now I'm bummed! Hi Monkey!
  43. Can I get just one more chance? I can change.
  44. Now that it is confirmed that Brent will not be attending, I guess I can look into making this trip myself.
  45. Interesting thought. There's a reason you're my lawyer.
  46. I’ve had yet another terrible experience with Cam-Expert, a relationship of years has come to a head after getting back a front panel for the second time that was very poor workmanship indeed, the brushing was coarse and rough, the rear side screw holes for the stax sockets were still slightly out of alignment again (I managed to fix this by making the holes slightly bigger on the sockets themselves). Anyway... I did a bit of experimenting, I removed the anodising via a caustic soda bath and wet sanded for a brushed polished look. I did this for all panels, the result isn’t bad and I prefer the shiny appearance to the duller clear anodised panels, but it does leave the panels vulnerable to fingerprints and scratches easily. Here’s a pic of the results...
